Miranda for 30m Euros?

Yeah obviously the right players but what I meant is if say Barca want £40m for Cesc then just pay the dam money, he'd improve us immensely. I still see us being tight arses this summer.
Cesc is something else, cause he is a great midfielder and has proven for many years that. He is still relatively young and has 6-8 good seasons above him. If we sign him for 50m, while overpriced I still would be happy with that signing cause it will improve us immediately and also will be here for a long time.

Miranda has been good this season but there are still questions if it is because of the system or because of him. Godin had an even better season. The likes of Thiago or Raul Garcia looked brilliant on their midfield, but I have my doubts that they would be as good in an another team. Same goes about him. He will be also 30 on September, so he'll have 3 good seasons here. And at that price (30m EUR + likely 5m for year on wages) he'll cost 45-50m EUR for three-four years which is ridiculously high. I am in the same position that I was with Baines last season, a big NO.

Maybe Van Gaal feels we need experience in our defence. Forget the transfer fee for a second and see that he would make a good signing.

He'll be 30 soon and I think the quoted 30m can be invested in a better defender. He's not really special , very good defender who looks good playing in solid Atletico system with a composed and consistent back 4.
Wishful thinking , but If we're going for a Atletico defender I'd have Godin in a heartbeat. He's the real thing.

Don't forget that Van Gaal is here for 3 years only, initially at least. He can't only rely on youth.

Actually think he'd be a good buy but sadly no one else worth their salt is reporting it. He's almost 30 but he's amongst the best centre halves around so would be a solid short term addition.

Not seen much of him, but for about £10m more we can get Mangala which is a better alternative. Garay is also another better option that I have seen played. So I call bullshite towards our interest mainly due to the price tag aforementioned.

Whoever we acquire at centre half has to be the least interesting aspect of our window, to be honest. We've got exceptional talent right here anyway, a solid, reliable man with experience would do. The price is a touch hefty, but this guy would be a decent signing from first impressions.

Systems are so much more important than the individuals. If it isn't right then even the very elite will suffer. We could have had Thiago Silva at the back last season and the reality of the situation is that our goals conceded column would have appeared scarily similar. When your midfield has been a vacuous, static hole since 2010 then the rest of the discussion is all quite futile. Sort out the midfield and place trust in what we have and the club will reap the rewards for years to come. Too many 'fans' see problems, too few actually attempt to look for the solutions, even when they're right in front of their face.

Talk Sport reporting that it is a done deal. :nervous:

Apparently Barca have lost interest ever since Marquinhos started looking like a goer.

Edit: I don't personally believe that LVG is that daft.

He is a rather slight upgrade on Smalling really. I'd rather stick with our guy. Godin is way better defender in Atletico's team.

TBH I can't see him leaving Athletico at all, not to England or to another Spanish team.

I think the press have got together and are collectively taking the piss out of the Caf!

The press have always been like this - it seems like people have just started giving more attention to them no matter what the source.

Yeah and most couldn't see us firing a manager in ten months either . I mean no one can reasonably predict or comment on how we do things these days ! I wouldn't be writing off anything at this stage .

Agreed. We're a very different club to the one we were 18 months ago. We can't really use the past to predict the future any more. Or at least, not to the same extent.

Miranda will be 30 next season and has had one good season. I'd prefer Garay!

Maybe a quick fix for a few seasons (if you deem that a quick fix of course) wouldnt be a bad idea. Would love Hummels, but for all the positives i've heard & seen regarding Hummels, i've seen/heard quite a bit of negatives too. His renowned passing from the back this season wasnt great i've read, but that could have been due to a number of reasons, i.e. team-mates not trying harder to get on the end of his balls :D

Moral of the story is - you never know what you're getin until its in front of you. Vida & Evra had shockers on their debut, but turned out to be world-class by the end of the next season, so - its always a gamble when signing many players.

LvG doesnt want all potential as far as i can see - he wants ready to go players. He knows United want to be challenging next season & its a risk gettin players in that are on the cust of being great players, when he's already under massive pressure to get us back on top asap.

Still cant get my head around the Kroo's thing though. Still rate Carrick higher - in his prime, than i do Kroo's, but Carrick had Scholes beside him. Bayern dont have a Scholes in their team - no-one does in all fairness...
