They were signing songs about Son all game which I won't repeat here.

Why are their fans so bad? Is it a particularly rough part of London?

Or do their fans enjoy living up to their hooligan reputation?

So glad Spurs smashed them today.

I used to live in the area and it's not great but no worse than a lot of other parts of London. Think Millwall got a reputation for violence in the 70s and 80s and a lot of scumbags have jumped on the bandwagon.

On social media it says whenever Son touched the ball they were chanting "DVD", not sure if we can take that as a slur as much as them just rehearsing the two letters of the alphabet they know.

Are they like this week in, week out? Or just when they play bigger teams because they know there's greater media coverage?

They love being infamous. Utter racist fecking scumbags.

Yes it's one of the songs they were singing amongst others, they were also singing about Wanyama.

Neanderthals the lot of em.

Doesn't make a difference as far as i'm concerned.

They did the same to Seol a decade ago.

Once more Millwall are being labelled racist...this time for shouting "DVD"! Paul Ince of Wolves is the latest to jump on the bandwagon in regard to condemning Millwall. Meanwhile, Liverpool fans get away scot-free after lobbing a mobile phone at Wayne Rooney! Some justice!

Cnuts

I'm sorry, but what does that mean? 'DVD'?

It's a stereotype slur towards East Asians about them selling DVDs in London marketplaces and mocking their way of speaking in English (i.e. they speak fast)

Milwall = Scumbags.

Who cares about a bunch of uneducated chavs that try act 'hard' and support a crap team, their fans and the club are completely irrelevant.

It's not the fault of the club, how do you think the people at Millwall feel?

Who cares??

Crappy pointless club
Even Crappier pointless fans

They aren't a crappy pointless club at all, like all the lower league and non league clubs in England they are a part of the lifeblood of English football.

Is chanting DVD racist though? I'm not sure.

They have been working really hard to get rid of this image, but sometimes you are fighting a losing battle. Maybe they just move the club to somewhere really peaceful in the middle of the countryside. It is sad. Thought fans were more educated now.

I'm not sure. Weren't some of our fans chanting about Park Ji Sung eating dogs or am I severely mistaken?

They're a complete bunch of dicks, probably the worst club in the league.

They were booing Son and Wanyama all game (have a look at the starting line up to see why), chanting dvd and stuff about five for thee pounds at Son and inevitably caused trouble before and after the match, despite all the measures the club and the police took today.

They were hissing a bit too, with all that implies.

I've not enjoyed a thrashing we've meted out as much as I've enjoyed this one for quite a while.

I'll never forget the way they chanted at clubs who Gary Speed played for in the aftermath of his death. Wastes of skin.

Seriously? I've never heard of that. If that's true, that's so fecking low. Absolutely disgusting.

The areas itself where the club is based and draws it support from (Rotherhite, Bermondsey, Peckham, Surrey Quays) aren't particularly problem areas racially anymore (Peckham has a reputation for roughness but is actually a very ethnically diverse multicultural area) The problem is the club and its reputation and the idiot fans who feel the need to turn up and portray an image which is at odds with the area itself.

These are areas (Peckham aside which has always been ethically diverse for as long as I can remember) that quite rightly had a reputation as having racist elements during the 70's, 80's and early 90's due to the BNP, Combat 18 and such organisations having a presence there, however its gone through huge changes since then and is now an area where you wouldn't expect ethnic minorities to encounter too many issues, the problem isn't the area its the club and its reputation.

I'm sorry, but what does that mean? 'DVD'?

Presumably some sort of horrible mix of 80s non PC humour about how oriental people bootleg dvds, hence always offering to sell them!

Yep, and no-one called that racist as far as I remember. Not sure if "DVD" is so different.

Do South Koreans even eat Dogs? If they don't, then clearly that's racist.

Exactly. I hate the 'pointless club' thing that gets posted at these forums a lot. It's so arrogant.

Yeah, they do. Over 50% of Koreans have eaten dog, a lesser percentage eat it regularly. It's fairly common outside of the West.

Ask anyone from the provinces to name an east London Club and the 1st name will always be West Ham.

Millwall have a proper inferiority complex and the fans feel the need to play up to their old reputation because frankly the club has no other relevancy.

Oh I know it's common in parts of the world. Can't imagine I'll be eating one anytime soon anyway.

It's not the club and it's not the majority of their fans either. Look at the trouble at Wembley a few years back, it was only 30 or 40 involved.

I actually feel a bit for the club, whatever is said, similar to Tottenham it's a bloody rough area and it needs its football club. I'm sure there's a lot of people at that club who work Bloody hard to try to improve their image and reputation.

Yes they did, not least Park himself. But even given that, there's always going to be lee-way (rightly or wrongly) if fans are chanting in support of their own player. There's a bit of a grey area around the intent, whether they are parrodying / taking ownership of the slur etc. Whereas if you chant it at an opposition player, then you are clearly, deliberately and knowingly using racial slurs to cause offence.

Bermondsey is in South London, Millwall itself is on the Isle of Dogs but it's not where they play.
