Milan Skriniar

I watch a fair bit of Serie A . And imo he would be a great signing . Huge potential and very solid as it stands . Personally I would rather him than any of the other options including Toby

He did extremely well last season and has all it takes to become a top CB at international level, but still needs to be assessed while challenging for the league week in week out and playing in the CL under more pressure.

Is Skriniar better than Koulibaly in the Italian league? or does he have better potential than De Ligt?

How reliable is that Italian source that claims that we have bid for Skriniar? Is there something genuine about the whole thing?

Koulibaly is more established, which makes it a better choice for us, but most likely would be more expensive.

Both excellent, I like Koulibaly a bit more, he's the better athlete and faster on the deck.

Neither are particularly spectacular on the ball tho and doesn't make it complimentary pairing with Bailly but both quality so not much big of a deal anyway.

Can I start a rumour about him going round the United training facilities and being impressed? Seems to have created a stir on the Martial thread :D

Naahh, we can't match the new state of the art facilities over which Spurs fans wank themselves to sleep.

No, Koulibaly is the best defender in the world together with Sergio Ramos(who's not as good at defending but brings more than anybody else in attack). Don't know De Ligt so can't judge

Skriniar is really good. Not the fastest but not a plodding slow footed pole, not dominant in the air but pretty good, and one of the best 1vs1 defenders in the world, great positional sense and decision making, very good with both feet

Tremendous pace is a bit overrated when it comes to central defenders. If you can read the game and can position yourself, and provided you are not ultra slow, you manage fine. Vidic, Terry, Cannavaro, Nesta etc.

Especially at United where the CBs are pretty static, staying close together at all times and in a low block. Not much pace needed at all.

For those who watch Serie A regularly, does this guy has leadership qualities?
Because right now we have good players, but lack leaders on the pitch, specially at the back. Players who could read the game well and stamp their authority in critical match situations.

none of them could lace Godin's boots as a CB. easily the best CB in world football for the last while

United need a new manager to make the players performing near 100% or even more as a unit, if you get someone like Conte, instead of 70% or less. Until then, you are just burning money, time, patience and your own sanity as fans, which is unforgivable for the richest club around.

Huh? Koulibaly may well be one of the best ball players at CB.

Really? He's competent but I don't think that's one of his outstanding features. Certainly not compared to Toby, Ramos, Pique, etc..

Not really. A RW and a LB are more important, so we can get good this year if we want

Everybody will be after him next year Id rather we go for him now.
If we can afford buying him along with a LB and RW, I’m all for it. However those 2 positions should be prioritised imo. I’m guessing we will get a CB anyway, considering the Alderweireld rumors.

I think we have a normal budget and a Eds shiny toy budget. I think if we can get Bale that will be from the shiny toy budget. I think we need another CM but if Fellainis renewal stops that then we should go for Skriniar

Do we think signing Fellaini would allow us to bid something in the region of 70m euros for Skriniar now? and something similar for a RW?

There were reports than Inter Milan was interested in Darmian. If Juve move falls through, I hope we can sell him+65 mil to Inter for Skriniar

They'd be two separate deals, but yeah, net cost I think we could look to be 60-65m. No reason we can't get 15m euros for Darmian.

Yeah 15 million is pretty cheap for the Italian National Team's starting RB.
But I think Darmian has an agreement of sorts with Juve and that he would prefer going there, that's the reason why we keep having meetings with Juve (if you believe the reports ).

Played RB tonight but liked what I saw again. If we really are willing to spend £100m in a centre half, he looks far and away the leading candidate.

Then we watched two different games. He was terrible tonight. Moura turned him inside out and beat him for pace so many times it was ridicilous. He did not do himself any favors tonight if he wanted to put himself in the shopwindow for the PL. And I actually like what I have seen from him earlier. Tonight he didnt perform though. At all.

Well having to track a rapid winger of course isn’t his game. But I saw some other things from him over the course of the 90 mins that I really liked. He tackles well and looks really composed on the ball. Good size and power too.

Yeah, maybe.
I was a bit disappointed not getting to see him playing CB and up against Kane. I dont watch Inter enough to have a good opinion on him and I thought that would be a good test. Him playing RB fecked that up a bit.

Great player but strange time to bump this when he played crap and out of position.

He is among the best CBs in the world without doubt. His tackling is so good, also his passing. We should try everything to sign him next summer, chances are very low as he likes at Inter and good chance we might not be in CL.

Hopefully it's either ManUtd or Inter for him. Don't want him to play for any other club.

Vs Barca away :D
