Milan Skriniar

I meant the Italian clubs seem to have some secret between their dealings. Some good players move between Italian clubs for price that would never be possible for foreigner clubs. It may not just ice as I did remember rumor about us with Skriniar back before his move to Inter.
The total cost of Skriniar was in the region of €40m IIRC. That includes Caprari going the other way

A lot of money but i suppose it would kill to birds with 1 stone, as while he is primarily a centerback he could also cover for matic.

Smokescreen to try and bring down the price for Toby.IMO
This Guy is not for sale.

I am not that sure about that. We're used to SAF's way of doing. He had this fixation about the players he wanted so we got used to either buy that player or we settled with what he had. Mou is a continental type of manager. These people tend to have a list usually on different expenditure bands and then they choose according to their priority and work accordingly.

Taking this as an example. Mou might want to spend 40m on CB and he would have Toby that fits that valuation, Skiniar on a higher band and lets say Lenglet on a lower band. Now if Levy asks 60m for Toby, Mou is still not 100% certain on Lenglet and Skriniar is on 70m then wouldn't think twice to switch for the Inter player simply because at that valuation its worth spending a bit extra for a younger and better player. We've seen that happening with Morata. United wanted him badly only to drop interest once it became evident that Real wouldn't move on the price. At 60m Morata would have been the player Mou wanted. At 70m though we could attract a better player to the club.

I agree with a lot of that, but in the case of Morata I think Lukaku was obviously Mourinho’s first choice. Once he became available Morata was dumped like yesterday’s underpants.

Its not as clear cut at that. I think Mourinho thought he needed to spend decent money for a striker without actually breaking the bank.Hence why he moved to Morata (ie a Real Madrid reserve and thought to be unhappy there) instead of Lukaku who was more expensive. Once Real asked for ridiculous money for Morata then his estimate entered into what Everton would have asked for Lukaku and we simply switched targets

If it's genuine it's quite refreshing.

It goes beyond him though, I mentioned it yesterday about Nainggolan about how loyal he's stayed to Roma through the peek of his career just for them to dump him off to Inter? Then you go back to the likes of Buffon, Totti, Nedved & Del Piero (though granted Juve were legitimately up there as one of the best in Europe at their time)

Have we told him how much he'll get paid, yet?

Hence the disclaimer, if it's genuine which I'm not at all sure of. If a player is wanted but not for the money his club want, it provides a chance for an easy "show of loyalty".

Well Inter are big club too and with new management. They signed him last season and rate very highly. He wont leave this summer, Inter would have rejected any offer.

This is the key here. He knows that they would never let him leave, so he is singing the correct tune that he knows the fans will appreciate.

If Inter accepted our bid and we dangled £150k\week in front of him he'd come running.

There was news that he will sign new contract this season with big pay raise.

So him, Varane, Alderweireld all looking unlikely, we must be down to our 4th choice on one of Jose's famous lists.

Inter will never match what any of the big clubs in England and Spain would offer.

of course they can't/won't, just saying he will sign new contract at Inter and I really doubt they will sell him. He will be part of that club for years.

VVD money and they would probably sell. I'm not sure about their financial position.

Boateng, Koulibaly, Romagnoli, and Soyuncu still to go, if the MEN report about the shortlist was accurate.

I still think we'll land Alderweireld, Levy will have to bend over eventually on that one and take it

Worth mentioning they've put together a very solid and promising team too.

Yeah, now they have signed Asamoah and de Vrij on free transfer and Nainggolan for around 20 million. Looks very good signings.

Heh, about that....they're giving Naingolann the equivalent of £170-180k a week more or less, same as Perisic, and should be giving Icardi something in the range of £350k a week

But they're offering Skriniar €2.2m a year after tax, so yeah, you could definitely offer more

It would still take the player pushing for the move AND an €80-90m offer, or an offer upwards of £100m to dump him

Skriniar is reportedly very happy with Inter's offer, too. It's bizarre, like he doesn't realize his own value. Long may it continue!

I think Alderweireld is still on as there is no way levy turns down 50 mill for a player that could leave on a free the season after. (I think he’s out of contract then)

The fact that out of all the central defenders in the world, he ended up buying Lindelof last summer (and he wasn’t cheap!) doesn’t fill me with confidence. What number choice on the list was he!?

Nah, Spurs have a one year extension written in his contract. They'll activate that so he's effectively got two years left. However, once they activate it he does then have a £25m release clause so he'll be available for that much next season.

Ah ok still can’t see levy losing out on any money if he can avoid it.

How good is this guy folks?

€80m is his price if you believe the papers

I’d pay it
Wow, is he that good?
I haven't seen him outside the YouTube videos but from them videos he looked very good 1V1,OK on the ball like Bailly good or just above v that level, physically imposing and nothing great in the air.
He also seemed a bit slow off the blocks, can't really comment about his top speed and felt he lacked agility.
I'm guessing you have seen him more than I have , so do you agree with my assessment?
From what I've seen, he's not worth 80 million euros and currently is not significantly better than what we have, but again that's from the little time I've watched him

Honestly I think this guy could be the next ‘best defender in the world’ within 2 years. @devilish watches more Italian footy than me, let’s hear his opinion

In my opinion, he's the best CB of his age group. However what persuades me that its a good idea to break the bank for him is that he's the complete package. He's an excellent passer of the ball (an astounding 91% pass success rate), he's solid at the back, he's strong, with great positioning and he's also a leader.

His weakness is his lack of pace. He's not exactly slow but he's no Kanchelskis.
