Milan Jovanovic signs pre-contract with Liverpool

I was always bad at equations. But he tried giving the opposition a hickey.

Your right I asked if someone would prefer he bit the ear off.

Your reading way too much into it, it just shows he has a fiery streak on the pitch. If a United player did this he would probably be hailed.

You seem to be confusing this

with this

Why not?

If he goes to Valencia, maybe that's a sign that Villa and Silva are heading out [and maybe we have an outside shot of signing one, if not the both of them]

Well because of the way Valencia have treated Nikola Zigic. Ok he is not a fantastic player but he has scored important goals for them and has a very good scoring ratio too. I would have thought he would have earnt some regular football. However I can understand that he will never get ahead of Villa, and they seem to only ever play 1 striker.

So you basically hate them because of how they've dealt with Zigic but you understand their motivation?

I don't want another one of our players going through that, end of story.

Yes I do understand the motives, its called being able to look at both sides.

confirmed

Standard Liege forward Milan Jovanovic will join Liverpool on a free transfer in the summer, the Belgian club have confirmed to BBC Sport.

The 28-year-old had been linked with AC Milan, Juventus and Valencia.

But he told Belgian newspaper Sporza: "We have reached an agreement for three years, with the option to extend with another season.

"I opted to sign for Liverpool because they're one of the biggest teams in Europe - definitely in the top 10."

Jovanovic joined Standard in 2006 and helped them win back-to-back titles in 2007-08 and 2008-09, while he has scored 12 goals in 23 games to date this season.

The striker, who rejected a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid last year fearing he would not be a regular first-team choice, added: "I'm absolutely delighted that the deal is completed.

"From now on, I can focus on Standard Liege again. I want to leave the club in a good way."

Jovanovic, who has also played for Shakhtar Donetsk and Lokomotiv Moscow, made his international debut for Serbia in a 2-0 win over Finland in June 2007.

freebie .. but any good ?

 Those words did leap out of his speech didn't they.

Yes a good player, especially for a free transfer. He will be a hit in England if only for his interviews, can't wait to see one.

Note to haters: Not saying great

What do you mean his interviews?

Think they got a steal - good striker, decent scoring ratio, and someone to replace the trash they have lined up.

If his manager next season is Rafa= good for us, as we all know his record with talented attacking prospects. If someone with a brain comes in and replaces him = potentially bad.

What is this crap that Krasic has signed a pre-contract too? Apparently that idiot Tomkins, he of the scientific proof of Rafa's genius, claimed that reports in Russia said Krasic has agreed to join the scousers.

Probably a mix up or something? As Krasic would cost a transfer fee whereas Jovanovic is free to talk to clubs as he's in his last 6 months on his deal.

So once Rafa is done with him he'll be playing as a left back. Good, not too bothered by it then to be honest. Dippers need quality players to challenge for a title, and quality doesn't go for free in football these days.

Yeah exactly I never knew Krasic from CSKA's contract was expiring.. Surely something wrong there..

Thought I'd put this here rather than starting another thread.

Great interview, little bit drunk in it  but nice to see a professional being so humble towards a kid. Can't wait for his first interview in England

Can't be worse than Dirk Kuyt, can he?

I don't know what happened to Kuyt, he just totally lost his confidence. Though to his credit he was always quite handy in the big games.

Jovanovic thrives on confidence, if he gets an early goal he should go on a solid run IMO.

Works for me, what games if you don't mind me asking? I wouldn't say he is shit at all, yet by no means a superstar.

From what I've seen I'd agree. He's a decent player, but he's not fantastic, and honestly he's not going to suddenly massively improve Liverpool. To be honest I don't think he's good enough to be starting regularly for a side looking to compete for the league. Next rung down, competing for 4th - maybe.

Its a fair opinion, personally I feel Jovanovic will get better wiht better players around him and surprise a few people. He has a big game mentality and I think he will be very eager to prove himself upon arriving to England. We shall see I guess.
