Music Michael Jackson is Dead (All general comment)

I don't actually dislike Uri Geller, but after ten minutes of constant talk, he just claimed to be speechless.

And he's still talking...

'I don't think I should say this but...you know I might not be on the television again for the next ten years.'

Knob off Uri.

Wow, just read through this thread and it just goes to show what a massive fecking hypocrit Elvis is. Jade Goody dies = jokes galore and desiratory comments aimed at anyone expressing sadness; Michael Jackson dies = worst day in history of mankind, anyone not displaying signs of mourning is an unspeakably evil human being.

No, if you read my comments, I found how everyone suddenly 'cared' for jade Goody laughable, not the cancer itself.

But continue to make up stories, if that's what makes you happy.

I don't understand. The bloke claims to be a close friend. I know people grieve in different ways but if my best mate passed away I couldn't calmly re-collect memories about him. He just cannot stop talking.

Jackson had some serious skills and Off the Wall is a god damn classic album. peace at last i guess for michael.

Not that I want to get embroiled in this argument...but shouldn't the fact that many posters are not giving in to the same hagiography about MJ please you?

You don't get entertainers like him any more. What a talent.

Didn't really affect my childhood but his music was always legendary and still to this day something I keep noted. He will long be revered.

No modern dance routines would excist without him. His performance at Mowtown 25 is still the greatest individual live performance of all time (even though it was mimed, which is saying something)

He also, rather bizarrely, had a great impact on race relations in american music and culture

Don't like the man, but his legacy is great and will last a long long time

So you're denying that you made jokes about a dying woman, and offended a lot of people?

From what I can remember, I criticised people for jumping on the media bandwagon how, just because she had contracted cancer, she was now suddenly being hailed as a great woman and all that nonsense. The media had berated her on many occassions before but purely down to the fact she contracted a form of cancer that affects millions of people, they suddenly started to potray her as something she wasn't. She got famous for being on a shit show and being thick, to be frank. Jackson earnt his fame, and I think you would agree. He is the biggest pop star of all time, put simply.

I have no problems with people who aren't mourning his death or who aren't sad, people seem to be misunderstanding that.

The only thing I have picked up on in this thread is a) People stating as fact that he was a peadophile, and b) People making crass jokes about child abuse.

I used to have a Michael Jackson digital watch as a kid - the alarm was 'Beat It' and it had a graphic of MJ dancing across it - it was quality

Listening to his stuff again now, he was truly brilliant.

Can't make up my mind on his favourite song. The Way You Make Me Feel is up there though.

feck me. Just turned on Fox News and guess who's on the line...Only Uri Gella!

So that's 5Live, BBC News, Sky News, Fox News and who else?

Say what you will about Thriller, I think his best album was Bad

I thought I read that Jackson had nowt to do with Uri in the end, they cut off contact?

That's what I thought as well. Uri was the one who recommended Martin Bashir to Jackson. And that turned out to be a great move..

Be that as it may, media outlets work in partnership and share the same contacts. So no great surprise.

I know, I was just pointing out that he's been pimping himself out to all the news channels/radio stations since the news broke. He even had the Sky cameras broadcasting live from his living room, such is his obsession with media attention.

One can bet Sir Paul McCartney is going to go after the Beatles catalogue once it goes up for sale.
