Michael Bradley

He's nowhere near as good as Fletcher, Cleverley et al. He's a headless chicken who was absolutely shite last night.

Very good engine, can harass well, but don't think he has the vision or short-passing game to play as a starter for a top team in a top league. More of a "keeps it ticking" type of player - American Cleverley, if you will. Good enough for Europe's best leagues but only as a role player or starter for a smaller club.

Based on what I saw in the game against Ghana.....Nothing. Just trotted over the field, didn't track back or mark anybody then wasted the ball with awful passing. The Germans will bury him.

It was one game, imagine judging Rooney solely on his performance against Italy

I'm genuinely curious, how many of the folks who rate him/think he's better than what we have are from the USA?

I agree he wasn't that great today but he's better than many are giving him credit for. I'd say at his best he's as good as a pre-illness Fletcher. Can't wait to see what he does against the Germans.

Pre-illness Fletcher made the premier league team of the season in 2010. I don't think Bradley ever sniffs that level of consistency and quality.

I'm Irish Canadian. I'd probably have him as our second best midfielder just ahead of Fellaini and Cleverley. As I said I earlier I wouldn't sign him but right now I'd have Carrick and Bradley in midfield. I rate Cleverley and think his potential is higher but he's been poor the last year so I'd have to give Bradley the edge right now.

I think he would have been a good signing for Everton or Newcastle and am surprised none of them seemed to go for him unless he must have expressed a desire to only go to the MLS. Would have loved to see him back at Villa. Transfer fee was only 5m or so too.

I've always been impressed with him and have no bias towards the USA or bald people.

He doesn't do anything glamorous but he's effective and I wouldn't mind seeing us being difficult to play against again. We were outplayed at Old Trafford by several poor sides like West Brom and Newcastle this season. Some of our fans said they weren't interested in James McCarthy either, similar to Bradley he doesn't do stepovers or flicks but he's a no nonsense midfield enforcer. People on here have admitted they'd prefer to sign Carvalho for £30m than McCarthy for £20m, even though they'd never seen Carvalho play. I'll never understand that attitude, a young player thats proven in the league or a gamble on an unknown, I know who I'd prefer.

Sorry but I watched him very closely. I usually pick one player in a team just to see what his strategy is as I have heard so much about him. He should have marked players much closer and in my opinion was responsible for opposing players moving into the box. Also when he did get the ball he gave it away far to easily.
Rooney is a completely different player but he did lay a great pass for the goal which is what its about.

No matter highly closely you watched him it doesn't change the fact that it was just one game. Judging any player on just one game is silly

Judge him on how many games you want - he's still garbage. Have we slipped that far that he is being suggested as an addition?

He isn't garbage, he did a very good job as a bit player for Roma over the last few seasons, especially while De Rossi was out injured.

He's a good player. Much better than how he was against Ghana. Better than Cleverley that's for sure. But I think it was stupid of him career-wise to go to the MLS. He easily could be playing in any of the top leagues for a good team. He was really solid at Roma. Disappointed that he's essentially done a cop-out on taking his career seriously by joining Toronto. Same with Dempsey.

I watched him closely for a reason the fact being I was asked to. In any case one must remember he had a chance with a Premier League team but was just not deemed good enough. He has one more chance against Germany, with me anyway.

Dempsey proved that he was a class player in Europe already with his time at Fulham. Bradley hasn't proved anything even if he was at best a bit solid with Roma. Villa had the option to sign him and didn't. I think if a relatively well known club in Europe wanted him, he would be here.

I doubt he would be for sure better than Cleverley even with his form this season.

He's not United quality, jesus, the transfer window really brings out stupidity. I mean what was he doing playing in the hole, I thought he was a holding player.

Cant believe people are saying he can actually play for us. Hell fecking no! He is no where near the quality we should be looking at.

When i saw he in Roma he looked like an ordinary midfielder, barely good enough to get some games for them. No wonder he moved to MLS.

Although could be a good signing for us. He wastes good chances almost as good as Cleverley.

He's been poor second half. Too many hollywood passes and slow in possession. Needs to advance forward a bit more, but I suppose he's their only central midfielder who is good in possession.

All he had to do was protect the ball at the end there

He under hit so many passes today it was funny hearing that he's the best American player. I might even take Cleverley over him.

Probably just Americans linking him to us to make it seem as if their football has advanced enough that top clubs like Manchester United are considering their players.

On that note, he's wank.

The only American you could see helping United is Fabien Johnson, even though he's nothing special defensively, because he's skillful, quick and apparently plays every wide position reasonably well. He just moved, so we won't be signing him, but if we wanted to get Varela a year of EPL experience on loan at a club needing a right back, we could sign him to cover both fullback spots.

I suppose Green too, if he's the talent people say.

Bradley has more quality going forward than he's had the chance to show, and the miss today was a bit of a freak accident, but he's not good enough for a top 6 EPL team. Good offensive instincts and not a weakling, but not particularly special in terms of link play or snuffing out danger. I guess he failed at Villa, but that actually seems like a good fit for him, playing alongside Delph and with Westwood behind him. Hull would be a good idea, too, since they tend to play Livermore, Huddlestone and one other and could use someone who can contribute offensively on the counter in that spot instead of marathoner and normally crap footballer David Meyler.

Had a much better game against Portugal but lost it for USA in the dying minute. NOT United material by any stretch of the imagination.

Yet some of our fans are desperate to throw £30m at Carvalho, if anything Bradley overshadowed him last night and during the World Cup as a whole so far.

The young right back that set up the final goal is pretty good and I'd have no hesitation adding him to United and see if he develops well. Other than that Howard and Dempsey are the only players worthy of a top 4 PL team.

Jermaine Jones is better than he is, and I wouldn't take him. Let alone Bradley. At his best he is a tidy player with a decent range of passing. That's as good as it gets with him. Not United material in a million years. The comment that he's as good as a pre-illness Fletcher is embarrassingly stupid.

Also played a key part in us getting to a European cup final.

Are standards slipping? He's not even better than Fellaini. And what happened at Villa?

So people seem to think just because our current midfield is dross, we should add more dross to it to make it better. We need to sign two world class midfielders or potential, who'd walk in our team.

People are REALLY desperate for a midfielder, so much so, that players like this guy are suddenly United quality.
