I never once thought Messi couldn't deliver in La Liga.

He did it under Koeman so why would I believe he couldn't do it under a better manager and win a title for them :wenger:

Just as much as Coutinho and Hazard went from dominating PL to doing nothing in La Liga, how players like Forlan were a different player in La Liga compared to how they played in the PL, how Veron was regarded a different level talent in Serie A before joining United etc etc etc ....

Would Messi look the same player out of La Liga, the same player out of Barcelona.

So far I have my answer..

This Valverde is a shitter manager than SAF never bothered me, because Messi is winning Balon'dor's with Koeman, a manager who was only Everton level in the PL, arguably even lower.

Nobody rates players based on how many leagues have they played in, except you.

By that logic Paul Scholes is inferior to Kevin De Bruyne because the belgian was great in Germany and England, while Scholes only played in England, same can be said about SAF as he never managed outside of UK, unlike Ancelotti,Mourinho and Guardiola who were successful in more than one country.

About Koeman, it's obvious Barcelona hired him just for his status as Barca legend, not for his managerial tactics.

United hired Ole, a manager who relegated Cardiff and only won trophies in the norwegian league.... is that PL level? Or they hired Ole just because of his status as United legend?
 
I think Messi simply needs to play in a team which is built entirely around him. Tactically speaking, I think he and Barca is a perfect match, but perhaps not quite so outside of it. PSG hasn't quite manage to find a way yet, so maybe that's why he has been struggling.

But perhaps if PSG starting to play around him more, we would start to see the best of Messi more often.

I'm not rating some random couple of players like Scholes vs De Bryune - ps, next time choose a player that atleast managed to win the CL vs scholes just like the other Messi fan boys said that I rated Zlatan higher when he had not won the elite stuff in football.

Ultimately I'm rating Ronaldo against Messi - you are obviously not going to care about Ronaldo's ability to do it in 5 different teams so I'm not sure why I should be listening to your opinion about no one in the world caring about players not adapting to leagues when I showed you an easy bunch of players that were good enough in one league but wasn't good in another.

Messi vs Ronaldo has never been a proper comparison as Ronaldo has not proven himself as a world class playmaker, a consistently amazing passer/creator/ dribbler (other than his United years). They are equivalent in terms of goal scoring with Messi having more of the wow factor as he plays deep unlike Ronaldo. You are saying tactical DNA this tactical DNA that as if they are both poachers. That makes no sense. Wherever Ronaldo goes, he is the the center of attention for goal scoring where the whole team is designed to create chances for him. The adaptation of a poacher is much easier than that of a playmaker especially when surrounded by other greats such as Mbappe and Neymar who also enjoy being the center of attention. Is there anyone else at United competing against Ronaldo for attention & goals? Imagine Benzema acting in a competitive manner at Real against Ronaldo acting selfish or in his own interests (just like Ronaldo) half the time and see where Ronaldo would end up in terms of stats.

Messi had a slow start at PSG but was very unlucky with tons of 100% chances he created being missed by his teammates, hitting the bar 6-7 times etc. Yet, he has 6 goals and 5 assists in 16 games with PSG vs Ronaldo who has 13 goals and 2 assists with United in 19 games, very similar g+a stats not to mention one plays as a poacher camping in the penalty box playing for United where the whole team is focused on feeding him for goals just like at Juve & Real.

So, you believe Ronaldo brought success with Juve? As far as Juve fans are concerned, he escaped Juve in the last minute before his contract ended like a true hero that loves challenges after the epic collapse of Juve in three years. Signing him was probably one of the biggest mistakes Juve has ever made. United seriously regressed with him just like Juve despite having the 2nd most expensive squad in Europe as expected. Poaching, taking penalties (30% of his goals at Juve were penalties), tap-ins, yeah, he was an expert in those things, I will give you that. Playmaking, free-kicks, creativity, passing, dribbling, link-up plays, he was terrible in those aspects at Juve just like at United.

Also, Ronaldo still has to prove himself in an international tournament as he has zero MVP awards unlike Messi having four. Even, Zagorakis with Greece in EC, Forlan with Uruguay, Modric with Croatia in WCs were able to win MVP awards, surely Ronaldo must be capable of doing that with Portugal.

Just the same way Tielemans was a flop in Ligue 1, and now he is doing great in PL, and many Man Utd fans want him in Old Trafford to replace Pogba.

Is SAF inferior to Jose Mourinho, Ancelotti,Pep Guardiola, and Klopp because he never managed outside of UK, and the others were successful in at least 2 different countries?

It's not that hard when you outspend the rest of the clubs in your league ten times to 1 and the only challenge you have is one other club and a very distant third club behind you two.

And yet that 1 other club dominated CL, Atletico went to multiple finals and Sevilla dominated Europa. For a few years there la liga was definitely more competitive than the epl

So it's nothing like post fergie years, then, as the post you quoted talked about outspending all other clubs ten to one and that the only challenge to the club was one other and a very distant third. United post fergie were scrapping for fourth much of the time, definitely not clearly out in front alongside one other team most of the time.

Yeah, but It was Messi who was the key player in winning those league titles under Valverde. Most of their big money signings were mediocre at best.

They won a couple of Serie A only due to him, of course he brought success with Juve. If Juve fans don't like him due to the circumstances of his leaving, that has little to do with his ability on the pitch.

Again with the MVP awards and the Messi brigade, you lot would probably want football to be judged by judges like gymnastic or diving, perfect 10s for dribbling and all that, who cares about scoring. :lol:

How about you look at it this way : Ronaldo is Man Utd's best starting attacker while Messi has been PSG's worst.

The team can't have been that bad. Messi had 20, 22, 27, and 14 assists in his last four seasons at Barcelona. Unless they were unmissable tap-ins, that means the players had some capacity to score.

That comes out to 0.40, 0.49, 0.76, and 0.30 assists per 90 minutes. In his current season at PSG he's at 0.34 assists per 90 minutes. You'd think PSG players would be more capable of scoring than whoever was left last year at Barcelona.

How can you be a GOAT when your skill set does not go beyond poaching, goal scoring :lol: ?

How can you be a GOAT when Messi easily matches you in terms of your biggest strength area, goal scoring?

How can you be a GOAT when compared with the complete package, Messi, who is still gonna be considered one of the greatest ever even without goal scoring due to his amazing playmaking & dribbling skills? Where would Ronaldo be without his goals? Probably in the reserve team :lol:

How can you be a GOAT when you give little joy to watch as you lack creativity whereas the other is one of the most exciting players ever? Even Zidane, Ronaldinho, Rivaldo, Platini, R9 etc. are much more fun to watch than Ronaldo (excluding his early United years). Probably the least fun to watch player in the GOAT conversation, can count 10s of other players who are much more exciting to watch..

How can you be a GOAT when Messi surpassed you in Ballon D'ors (7>5), Golden Shoe (6>4), iffhs best playmaker award (4>0), Pichichi (5>3 in 9 years), La Liga best player award (6>1), international tournament MVP (4>0)?

I bet people who think Ronaldo is the GOAT are mostly Portuguese fans and some United fans. Most Juve fans definitely think he is no more than a great poacher, definitely not GOAT material just like Gerd Muller and even most United fans think Messi is better than Ronaldo looking at the poll. Can you imagine Ronaldo leading in a Barca forum :lol: :lol:?

Ronaldo hasnt been a poacher his entire career. And even since he streamlined his game to be a poacher, he's scored more goals past his 30's than anyone else. Drop the recency bias. Over the span of his career he's been amazing. He's just not as good at the dribbling and playmaking stuff as Messi.

I said Ronaldo was an exciting player to watch in his United years. Ronaldo had to make sacrifices, the trade-off for him was between continuing to be an exciting/creative player vs goal scoring. He chose the latter one and decided to leave his creativity on the table to maximize his goal scoring stats in the last 10 years or so. Messi never had to sacrifice anything. From the start, he was a world class playmaker, dribbler, goal scorer, there was no trade-off for him. That alone is enough proof that Ronaldo is a much inferior player without even comparing their trophies, individual awards etc.

They won a couple of Serie A only due to him, of course he brought success with Juve. If Juve fans don't like him due to the circumstances of his leaving, that has little to do with his ability on the pitch.

Again with the MVP awards and the Messi brigade, you lot would probably want football to be judged by judges like gymnastic or diving, perfect 10s for dribbling and all that, who cares about scoring. :lol:

Center of attention? He scored 91 goals as a false nr 9. Ibra, villa, and zlatan were shunted because Messi was one of the best goalscorers ever but at the same time he was the master of setting up his teammates. Just watch Messi's performance in the 5-0 demolition of real madrid.

And obviously juve were never going to win league without Ronaldo despite winning 7 in a row.

This is just plain dumb, and surely you know that(?).

If you think Ronaldo, for the majority of his career, was just a poacher, you haven't actually watched him outside of Juventus.
Just because he has essentially been a poacher the last few years, doesn't mean it was always like that, not remotely.

In his prime, Ronaldo was a terrific counter-attack player who was very dangerous 1v1, could threaten from range, a good crosser of the ball, solid passer, in addition to being a supreme goal poacher.

One can say he was always lacking as a playmaker compared to Messi, but that didn't make him one-dimensional.
