MERGED - The 2010/2011 ASHES tour thread...all Ashes related chat here please!

Oh sorry as you were then..

As for Johnson, i agree its good to show aggression im just not sure hes the right person to be doing it given his record against England and the fact hes been pants recently to, someone like Harris i would understand.

I'd rather him go at it then sit back and dwell on how shit he's been. He looked good in those two overs. Should have had a wicket.

Worst possible 2 hours. Everything that could go wrong, did go wrong.

Not much there to salvage, might get to 250-260 tops in the 1st innings, and even that looks a million miles away truth be told. This test match won't be seeing a day 5.

Not a bad prediction!

Overall a satisfactory day's play on the basis that the Aussies don't have the bowling attack that we do, hopefully we can get a decent lead going into the 2nd innings.

First day scorecard (if someone could do the necessary ;)):

A good recovery for Australia but this isn't going to be pretty unless a few of their bowlers turn up and play. It's a risky move to go with the 4 seam attack, even if it is Perth, a spinner should always be picked in the team imo.

Good to see England's wickets were shared by all their bowlers, if the batters continue to play as they have done then England might just be bringing back the Ashes before Christmas.

England very much in the proverbial Driver's Seat.

EDIT: The Ashes | Cricket | The feeble and the damage done

9 gone, Johnson looks a completely different bowler, wtf happened to him?

England

ffsakes 78-0 to 98-5 :wenger:

All gone now for 187 - pathetic from the middle order

My actually be a good kick up the arse for them and proves the pitch will take a good accurate ball and there 's wickets in it if you bowl straight and pitch it up

Got to dig some out here and not let the Oz get a foothold

Good lord. Hubris bit us in the arse then?

Pretty sure I predicted this would happen last week somewhere in this thread. England still prone to collapses it seems and I didn't think they were anything amazing. With the state the Aussie batting lineup is in I can't see them getting more than 350 so looks like we will be getting an early result.

What a day of cricket!

Johnson bit us in the arse ! great bowling performance from him has to be said - swung the thing like a bastard

We were mocking him all ends up recently! Now he scores 62 (outscoring any of our batsmen) and goes 6/38! Hubris!

What the hell? Wake up and find out Johnson's taken 6 and Aussies actually have a lead? Incredible!

That appeal by England was shameful...People had a go at Hussey earlier, but every single fielder made it look like it was a sure out, but when it came to refer, they decided...nah, not convinced.

Appealing for decisions is probably the one aspect of cricket that really annoys me,

Phil Hughes prolly gonna get dropped again after this test. I don't think he should, he might not get to grips with it or anything, but the best bet for talent to flourish is to back them early in their career, England backed Cook and Bell(for a while before he got dropped on and off) and in both times worth it.

Although saying that, where is Jaques nowadays?

But still, FINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN. Got a damn good test on here, come on boys, finish it off here!
