MERGED - The 2010/2011 ASHES tour thread...all Ashes related chat here please!

Tremlett's bowling beautifully, though. His wickets were due to batting error, but I'm enjoying his bowling.

I don't like Finn..

Worst possible 2 hours. Everything that could go wrong, did go wrong.

Not much there to salvage, might get to 250-260 tops in the 1st innings, and even that looks a million miles away truth be told. This test match won't be seeing a day 5.

Tremlett again, Smith gone.

I'm not sure how the selectors thought Steve Smith was a test no.6? He can't play the short ball, and can't play the full delivery...what does that leave us with?

And he's not a test quality bowler. They've hyped him up too much.

He looked good in the 3rd warm-up game against England.. that's probably why..

Losing at home to the english! How the mighty have fallen. It seems India is indeed the undisputed best test team on the planet.

Wouldn't shout my mouth off for another 3 weeks at least..

Even with no four-day cricket under his belt, Brad Hodge would have made more runs than Ponting, Clarke and North combined in this series. An absolute ubermensch whom the Aussies don't deserve to have playing inside their country.

What a ball by Swann there, Hussey gone.

With that Green top, looks like a par 300 wicket.

It's green, but it's not an English or Kiwi wicket, we lost the 1st 3 wickets to daft shots, not because the pitch was doing something amazing.

Watson got done by a quick yorker, Smith shouldn't be playing test cricket, and Hussey got out to Swann.

375 is par for this pitch.

England will be delighted if they bowl Australia out for 250 or less, its not a green top in the sense its seeming everywhere in fact hardly any balls have seemed really its been more the bounce and really loose shots outside off stump that's done it, Clark's was a hideous shot, Pontings the same, Smith defended to extra cover which is a cardinal sin at top level cricket, Hussey got a peach from Swann Watson missed a straight full one and Hughes cant bat against the short or full ball.

You cant really say the pitch has accounted for any of the wickets really.

What a stupid shot by Haddin, again, the pitch had nothing to do with it.

He and Johnson were the last pair so to speak....

Harris is a real bunny, just a matter of time now.

England's catching have been brilliant. Aussies have done well to reach 190, considering the start they had.

Was listening to the ABC commentary earlier today and they mentioned the idea of opening the batting with Hussey. To me, this sounds like an absolutely brilliant idea as in this, and the last test, he's been exposed to the new ball and has played very well. He's found some excellent form of late and he used to be an opener in his early days anyway. The change seems unlikely though as the selectors would probably want to stick by Hughes.

No hes got a tight calf according to the England camp you dont run in and bowl if youve done a hamstring, probably not best to listen to channel 9 its made up of utter doofuses.

I was joking, sorry... be interesting to see how he goes in the second innings.

As for the comment above, what does it matter if he hasn't taken a wicket. Its the bit of aggro this Australian team needs. feck what hasn't been done.

Oh sorry as you were then..

As for Johnson, i agree its good to show aggression im just not sure hes the right person to be doing it given his record against England and the fact hes been pants recently to, someone like Harris i would understand.
