MERGED - The 2010/2011 ASHES tour thread...all Ashes related chat here please!

Great innings from Clarke, real shame he got out right at the death, but he's showed more balls than our marvelous captain, who's done a disappearing act this entire test.

But that wicket has completely changed the outlook for tomorrow, and rain permitting England to now wrap things up, with plenty of time to spare.

:(

You trying to anti-jinx this, aren't you?

Drainage is really good, they'll cover things up really well. So if it is dry skies for any significant period tomorrow, play will commence.

Severe Thunderstorm Warning - South Australia - TIFS

Locations which may be affected include Lameroo, Naracoorte, Woomera, Roxby Downs and Leigh Creek.

Severe thunderstorms are no longer occurring in the Adelaide and Mount Lofty Ranges and the warning for these districts is CANCELLED.

No honestly i genuinely dont see it looking to good for England myself, everyone who's been asked about the weather have said the same i.e storms around the area and lots of rain and with that comes obviously bad light and heavy cloud cover, its not just oh if it stops raining get em out there light will be an issue as well.

I think there will be a window of play at most, maybe 20 overs maybe a session if lucky i don't see from what the forecasters are saying how there can be any more than that and i don't see it as enough time.

I think your boys will get out with a draw.

There's a New Zealand guy who works here, and all the cricket weirdos keep taking the piss out of him because they think he's Australian and gives a shit, when in reality he's neither.

Just waiting for the moment when he finally breaks the news to them.

Cricket fans.

 He should shout them all a pavlova to go with it!

Harris the only ray of light in that aussie bowling card, Cook probably doesn't need to score another run to finish up as the batsmen with the highest average come the end of the series...

So you're going to tell me, that an inform Katich, Ponting, Hussey and Clarke are not some of the best batsmen in the world :wenger: Watson and Haddin are also very very good batsmen although not to the standard of the other four. North is just pure shit.

I wouldn't say we're the best, but we're pretty darn good. I can't say definitively that the likes of Tendulkar, Sehwag, Dravid and Laxman are any better or worse than our top order when all are on top form.

Also, I think Watson has developed into our best batsman ever since he started opening the batting. He's proven to be consistent, sharp and aggressive in his strokes and should be replacing Katich in your four "best in the world" category IMO.

Both South Africa and ours batting line up is much better than yours. Sewhag, Gambhir, Sachin, Laxman would all get into your team quite easily so would Smith, Kallis and Amla.

Gilly 100 off 57 balls being showed over here at the moment. feck i'm glad I tuned in for that session. If not for the pathetic sport that was Hoggard he probably would have had the record. Old Monty got a bit of a battering.

Its funny seeing Aussies console themselves with former glories to try an ease the pain of coming to the realization that their team is 2nd rate.

Its funny because this is exactly how every English fan felt in the 90s and early noughties.

Just been watching the highlights and watching Broad have a go at Pietersen for not stopping a ball that even Superman would have had trouble reaching. Why does he occasionally have a pop at his teammates? He's also sometimes very unsporting to the opposition as well, shall we say? I reckon he's a bit of a twat, really.

Broad? yeah, I've started to dislike him. He's a spoilt bastard who gets away with murder because his dad's an international referee.

I like Broad. cnuts are winners.

Yeah but he's had about 3 decent spells in the test arena and thinks he's made it.

Now I wouldn't mind him being a cnut if he was averaging in the mid to low 20s with the ball and winning test matches for England game in game out. As it turns out he's only been a bit part player with a few outstanding displays.

i just saw this forecast -

Morning - Mostly Sunny / Mild.
Afternoon - Scattered Thunderstorms / Mostly Cloudy / Warm.
Evening - Rain Showers / Mostly Cloudy.

That'd suggest we might get about 40 overs (near half a day) - that might do it if we strike early.

Re - Broad, he can be a bit gobby but I think he's got quality, he's bowled very, very well in my opinion this series without much reward so far.

If I was playing against him I'd call him Jedward to wind him up though, he's clearly their elder brother.

Hussey & Haddin are the only batters left that can be relied on. The Aussie bowlers seem to be poor batsmen whilst North is North. Get Hussey early and England should win it before the rain comes.

Credit to Clarke for apologising for not walking when he was clearly out. He didn't need to do that, and there have been far worse incidents when players are clearly out and still not walked (Strauss is a serial twat at doing that). At the same time, players have the right to stand their ground until the umpire gives it out. I think (in the 'spirit of the game') they should tell all players to walk or not walk, it seems unfair some players walk when they know they're out and other's don't.

He's just in the moment, a bit intense and want's to win. It's fraustation as much as anything, I've been bowling before and a ball gets tonked past one of my fielders and although I know they don't stand a chance of getting it, I'll shout "fecking hell... come on man!" or something equally disgusting, they know you're not actually pissed off with them and you laugh about it back in the club house later.

I'd put money on the Aussies doing everything they can to not bat today and when they do, don't expecy anything more than a few forward defensives.

You know whats even funnier?? The fact that you're talking like the series is already wrapped up, yet you still haven't won this game yet :wenger:

Looks like there might be play this morning. Will the rain hold off long enough for England to win though?

Forecast for Tuesday
A morning shower, increasing to showers and a thunderstorm during the afternoon
and evening. Warm to hot with moderate northeast to northerly winds and a light
to moderate southwest afternoon sea breeze.

Wondering if it's worth waiting up for, given I've a fairly early start tomorrow.

Never thought I would see Aussies anxiously watching the weather forecast with fingers crossed.
