He may turn out good you never know. That's exactly what I was thinking. Di Maria was incredible, and it looked like there was no way he could not thrive at United. How did it all go so wrong?

oh come on you know thats not what was meantYep, let's stop signing players because they might all fail.

He wasn't robbed at gunpoint, the burglars didn't even get into his house. He and his family got robbed at gunpoint? Could mos def fcuk someone up mentally. If reports are true.

@NL Max isn't posting when Memphis is playing. More proof.
Seems like a top top talent, i think he will do well for us. Can he only play left wing or is he decent in any other positions? Just curious if he could play striker if needed?
It’s funny that I’m a little bit skeptical about him in general, and yesterday when I looked through this thread I saw a lot of people saying he was having a superb game, yet when I turned on (around 65’) for 20 mins he lost the ball 3 times in relatively easy situations, and made a couple of sideways/backwards passes. It seems my timing is bad
For those who missed the game.
Is there any attacking player in world football with a 100% cross completion? That's a typical Ashley Young performance. Some wasteful crosses, some excellent ones.

I rate Young and am very happy that he's been offered a new contract (I think) and I agree with you to a certain extent but Memphis has youth and room for improvement on his side and with the right development we have a potential 'world star' in our hands. Young is very industrious and a very good winger but I think his development has reached the limit and what you see is what you get...no more than that. It's neither lazy nor inaccurate. That video has pretty much been the average level of an Ashley Young performance this season when he's played on the wing. Except he'd probably beat his man a lot more often than Depay did. I rate Young highly so I'm not criticizing Depay. Not unless you're one of those who think he's next Ronaldo or Nani.
Probably not. The only difference is those dangerous crosses that Young makes that don't quite result in an assist is often an excuse to bash him, call him wasteful and shit and one of the reason why United have been so shit etc....Depay on the other hand gets compared to Ronaldo for doing what Young has been doing on a weekly basis.

Hardly unthinkable that.
Young isn't anywhere near as big of a threat as Depay is, if Young put in the kind of performances that Depay did last night on a weekly no one would dispute his place in the side. This was a good performance from Depay, if it was Young it would've been considered an awesome performance by his standards.
Nonsense.
He's put in better performances than this and against better teams than USA.
When?
Man City for a start.
That's not weekly.

I'm well aware of that.
That was an example of a better Young performance in response to bullshit like this:
Could have also mentioned the Arsenal game if I wanted to.
Only one word was important in that quote and it was 'weekly'.
Young has been putting up very good performances on a weekly basis since he's played on the wing and in a better league at that.
Better than last night performance?
It hasn't yet. See how he does next season. That's exactly what I was thinking. Di Maria was incredible, and it looked like there was no way he could not thrive at United. How did it all go so wrong?
And the chance for Huntelaar 1 vs 1, pass to Wijnaldum which put him in a dangerous position in the final third..It was more threatening than Young, as it was more diverse.Last night he had 1 assist + a couple of dangerous crosses and a few wasted crosses and shots. Never beat his man out wide either which Young does a lot these days. So, yeah, he's had plenty of performances better than that. In recent weeks alone, Arsenal, City and Palace have been better than this.

It was, the standards for Young have been so low in the past, that every match with 2 decent crosses is seen as brilliant. Young himself has no goalscoring threar, while Depay brought that far more in this match. He had 3 crosses which could have been goals, 1 should be assists, and a key pass to Wijnaldum which split their defence open in the final third. This isnt the weekly Young performance. It really wasn't but whatever....

Young put in good balls, but often they dont really actually come on someones head. Although Huntelaar is a far better header of the ball than Rooney is, that's Huntelaar biggest asset. Not saying Depay is better, but Young isnt brilliant week in and out. And I actually think this was one of Deoay's better matches this season, all threat came from him. That sounds suspiciously like something posted in the Ashley Young thread. Except in that thread it's a reason to ridicule Young.
He had 1 asssist, some decent balls in, some really wasteful moments, a chance where he should have had a shot at goal when he has 1v1 with the keeper only for him try something elaborate and give the ball away, never beat his man out wide. Depay looks more of a goal threat but other than that he appears to be at the same level as young and it remains to be seen whether he can replicate his goal threat in a much better league when the team isn't built around him.
One thing is certain, he won't get so much freedom to attack in van Gaal team. Young biggest asset is that he works very good with his teammates and is very good tactically. IMO as long as Depay won't learn to do the same he won't be a starter.
Whether he gets the same amount of goals as this season remains to be seen, I personally doubt that.
