I hate people with this mentality. Who has Real ever bought from us who we didn't want to sell? Ronaldo and he is a lifelong Real Madrid fan and he is from Portugal as well. De Gea is from Madrid, his girlfriend lives there, his friends live there, that's why he wants to go.

Depay isn't a Real fan nor does he have friends and family there.

Ronaldo wasn't a lifelong Real fan. The city lights called him.

At a regular hospital yes but I thought medicals are done at Carrington now?

He probably had a tour around the facilities, talks with various members of medical team/maybe van Gaal too... don't know exactly what a medical entails, but given these transfers are worth tens of millions, extensive tests are surely done which can take a while.

There are loads of medical tests which require time. Checking blood takes at least an hour for a start, tests which require nuclear isotopes can take up to 24 hours.

Cardio tests with TC-99m sestamibi are commonly used and can take up to over an hour aswell.

I'm really looking forward to seeing him play for us. He's been very productive this season, and he's definitely improved himself in terms of his effectiveness and influence on matches. I do believe that van Gaal will make him even better and more mature in his game, and we'll finally have a winger who'll be a goalscoring threat after quite some time (Nani was the last winger with that label until his injury troubles came up).

I am really excited about his arrival, and I really look forward to seeing him play on our left side.

Van Gaal reveals plan for Depay development

Memphis Depay has been signed by Manchester United because of his immeasurable natural talent, according to Louis van Gaal, although the manager has warned Reds supporters not to expect too much too soon from the highly-rated Netherlands international.

After passing his medical on Monday, Depay will complete his move to Old Trafford from PSV Eindhoven when the summer transfer window opens on 1 July and the 21-year-old forward will arrive with a reputation as one of the most exciting prospects in European football, having scored twice at the World Cup in Brazil before netting 25 goals in all competitions this season.

Most recently, the Dutchman claimed the Eredivisie’s top goalscorer award and became the youngest player to win the Golden Boot since legendary Brazil striker Ronaldo bagged 30 goals for PSV in 1994/95.

All of this has prompted much excitement among United fans, who are looking forward to watching Depay in action at the beginning of the next campaign. But, writing in his United Review programme notes on Sunday, the manager tempered expectations and called for patience.

“Youth is very important to this club and is a very big part of my philosophy as a manager," van Gaal wrote. "We have a number of young players in our first-team squad who have benefitted from experiencing first-team football this season and that will help their development going into next season.

“Memphis Depay [is] a young player who has come through the PSV Eindhoven academy system," the boss continued. "I worked with Memphis during last summer’s World Cup with the Netherlands and he has great potential.

"The plan is to help him develop as a player, but we must all be patient. The Premier League is very different from any other league and it will take time for him to fully adapt to the pace and unforgiving nature of football in this country.”

 There's probably more Dutchmen in the backroom. They don't count.
Are you saying Jaap Stam does not count? Jaap Stam always counts. Across the world - in the White House, at Downing Street, even in NASA headquarters - every single decision is made with Jaap Stam in mind. If they think he wouldn't approve, they don't go ahead with it to avoid having their limbs ripped off.

Jaap Stam counted.

Edit: I now realise you mean currently at the club. My bad. Still, you should've mentioned Jaap Stam just to be safe.

Are you telling me Jaap Stam doesn't eat 10 Jordi Cruyff's for breakfast?

Jordi Cruyff can count, but only if Alex Buttner counts.

Why do medicals take that long, four hours?
It depends. We need sperm for later reproduction and depending on stamina it can take longer. That's why Rachel Riley has been spotted at Carrington, it speeds the procedure up a bit.
