I took Lacazette based on you putting his name in your squad post and that he's the only striker in terms of hot ones on the market that fit with the criteria you laid out.

I did say that but I wasn't saying it in a way that was accusatory, just that I felt we'd ran it into the ground, you make it sound like you are defending yourself from blame, it was never like that.

Well both those players are already here so are you suggesting we not only don't buy a wide attacker but also sell one of those 2?

If he's the player you're thinking of then yes.

Sounded like that to me

Eh? What's with people putting words in my mouth. Di Maria and Mata are here. People are convinced they'll be competing for the same spot because apparently Van Gaal likes his 'inverted wingers' and all. However, he'll still want a player who can play on the left and right, which is Di Maria. Sometimes he'll be used on the left, sometimes on the right. That means we'd need a right footed player who can play on the left. We've currently got Young, but he could possibly be replaced by someone else.

Assuming Januzaj isn't here (loaned), it could possibly be:

Di Maria (Right wing, left wing)
Mata (Right wing)
Young or New player (Left wing)

Well thankfully our board and management don't agree with you and according to many reports we are after a new centre back like Hummels for example.

Depay is much further along in his development that Januzaj. I see no problem with loaning Januzaj out like @Raoul had suggested earlier and bringing Depay into first team contention. If you are talking about Januzaj in what people were saying a year or two earlier then I'm sorry that we adjust our opinions in consideration to what we see.

You know them, do you?

Ahh, the old 'according to many reports' argument. Based on 'reports', we should have had Sneijder years ago.

That said, I don't want to go on like Van Gaal won't buy a centre back. Maybe he will, maybe he won't. I'm just giving my opinion on what I would do.

Probably because he plays week in week out. Swap Depay and Januzaj around and maybe you'd be saying the opposite. But anyway, what will be will be. I'll be happy either way.

He's the player I thought you were angling towards with the specifics of your suggestion. Personally I'm not sold on him, but I'm not sold on Memphis or Firmino either so it's all the same to me.

It did? Ok then man, well it wasn't as there's nothing to be blamed for, just two United fans shooting the shit and getting off course, if I am going to be a dick about something I'm very direct.

Ah well there we go, I wasn't putting words in your mouth per se but I was also not really thinking much about Di Maria spending a lot of time on the left. Logically Young goes, he's had a decent season but mostly as a wingback, he offers very little in the way of assists or goal threat in a front 3. However LvG seems to love him and he's popular within the squad.

Either that or keep Van Persie. One of the two.

One winger will always spend time on both wings. Pedro for Barca. Sanchez for Arsenal. Milner for City, etc.

No, i'm pretty sure I don't live in a fantasy. It's just my opinion that I feel our defenders, given playing time together can be good enough. You talk about experience, but the only way they'll get that is by playing.

I mention nothing about Depay competing with Young, etc. Can't really be bothered to explain, but if you go back a page or two you'll find out what I meant.

Most people weren't saying that last year or earlier on this year. How times have changed.

We are going to need a new defender basically because of Evans. Evans contract expires in 2016 and it would be silly to give him a new one. And going next season with only Jones/Smalling/ Rojo would be suicide.

So in a nutshell:

RW - Mata/Januzaj
LW - Di Maria/Lacazette/Young
Striker - Rooney/Lacazette (for maybe 5 or 6 games)

Don't know how after I explained several times. :wenger:

Selling Young was not something mentioned as likely, all you kept saying was buy a striker who can also play wide as opposed to a straight up wide player. ;) I just realized how bad this makes the squad you actually listed, if RvP is kept and we sell Young we'd have just 3 wide players for a front 3 and 2 of them have no pace and 2 of them pose no goal threat.

This page reads like a draft thread.

Can we stick to the subject of Depay as a transfer target, please.

I can't keep explaining, because as usual, you're going over the same thing over and over again. I've given my view on Memphis, that should be it.

@Devil may care has a way of going off subject and always feels he needs to have the last say.

No, you keep explaining in ways that never actually admit the errors in your posting which is why I keep responding.

The team I posted and what I said is there for all to see. I shouldn't have to spell it out for you. If you don't understand by now then it's pointless. I mean, it's not the first time we've had a debate that went completely off topic. Fellaini ring a bell?

Yes I recall the Fellaini topic in which we discussed Fellaini in the Fellaini thread. It's not that I don't understand, it's that I'm trying in the spirit of a discussion forum to explain the reasons why what you posted aren't logically viable, but you just dig your heels in with no room to admit error despite the clarity in which the errors are pointed out in the discussion.

And before you quoted me, I was talking about Memphis competing with Januzaj. Just check my posts. Yet you decide to go completely off topic.

What errors have I made?

You posted a squad in your post regarding the topic, I simply questioned it, you opened the door.

You built a squad concept on a no injuries policy with limited senior cover that accepts RvP could stay, selling Young and only 1 senior CB for cover as long as it means Januzaj has a place on the bench. Basically your whole idea was built on Januzaj having the path clear, not on the best for Manchester United.

PM'd you

@NL Max i never watched Depay(watched only second half against Turkey) and it looks like you are the main expert on that topic :)
Is he "just" baby Rony? Can he impact the game without the end product?

Yes he can. Against Spain, he had no assist or goal but was arguably Hollands' most dangerous player. De Gea had to save shots from him twice (1 great save) and he sent Wijnaldum trough 1v1 but he blasted wide. He dribbled past Carvajal, passed to Willems who gave the assist for Klaassen's 2-0.

This is the point he's improving the most. He's becoming a team player who links up well with others, he doesn't force himself into dead alleys as much nowadays. He's learning to pick his moments, and not always trying to beat what's in front of him. He rathers tries a hollywood ball to the other side or give a trough ball/pass. He's spotting his teammates much better but his passing needs to improve still to become a top-top player. He's still raw in regards to this aspect, but compared to Memphis from a year ago he's completely different. He changed from always doing a Robben.

Also has the nasty habit to score even if he wasn't particulary good. Against Twente he didn't have a good match, but he scored twice and gave an assist.

PSV won 3-1 at home to PEC Zwolle (who went trough in the Dutch cup last tuesday). He gave the pre-assist for the last PSV goal.

Had a good game overall but was very sloppy and a tad unlucky with his finishing. Had 3 clear chances which got saved by Hahn (who was great for PEC, made about 17 saves, a record - shots were a bit too close to the keeper though) and was plenty involved in other attacks. Had a few more pops which were blocked.

Was great on the counter, was involved in teammates 3-4 big chances who were sloppy too with their finishing. Was looking for a goal a bit too much and really should've scored.

If Ajax lose tomorrow PSV will be champion, otherwise it'll have to wait untill next week.

The commentators here said he looked tired. It has been a long season for him.

Could be, he was still breaking on the counter 2 times in the dying minutes of the match when PSV were 2-1 up (and eventually was part of the 3-1). He was more sloppy than normal, had a few great chances. Props to their keeper Hahn though, he played a near perfect match. Not sure if it was tiredness, looked very fit still.

Was probably looking for a goal a bit too much but was still effective and very dangerous.

Just not convinced he'd be a good signing. Looks like the kind of player who would flop at a big club. Has potential but only worth buying at a certain price in my opinion.

Well nobody likes players who run at you with pace, so he is a real danger. He is good but with a bit a developing to do. LvG could just be the man to do that.

He will cost around 22m pound, or 30m Euro. Confirmed by PSV journalist Thijs Slegers.

He still needs to improve parts of his game, definately. Final ball/decision making and spotting danger at the back mostly, but he's been improving all of this already. He's on the way and I think van Gaal can get the best out of him. He's pretty much done in the Eredivisie imo, topscorer with 19 goals in his first season and as a winger isn't bad.

I'm still pretty convinced he's coming.

I am convinced both him and Hummels are coming.

I'm convinced he's coming and he will be a huge success. Simple as.

If we want him, we will get him! Even with other clubs intrested in him. Just think the Van Gaal factor will do it

Only saw the second half, had some nice bursts of acceleration on the counter and showed strength on the ball, but fluffed his lines with some good chances missed. He did show composure as part of PSV's 3rd goal even if his pass didn't come off.

@NL Max how quick is he?

Is he Ashley Young quick or proper rapid like Agbanlahor?

I just get the impression he is not very quick but could be wrong.

From what I have seen he is far quicker than Young. Saw a PSV game vs Twente recently where he shot down the wing at Sonic speed.

Also no mock up of him in a united shirt yet?
