Everton would be a good loan move for him.
Came on and scored 2 for Holland tonight. He's mainly looked good for the national team and was brilliant in the Dutch league, I really thought we had the next Hazard type of player with Memphis feck knows whats happened with him at United.

He's mainly looked good against poor opposition. That's the real pattern. I hope he's not one of those that excels based on physical attributes but has nothing left to offer when those attributes are matched, but it does look that way.
Memphis is a flat track bully, plain and simple. He has the potential to be more if he works hard sure, but two goals against Luxemburg change nothing.

Why on earth do people say this? How comes RAShford and Martial looked better last season under LVG? Why didn't he 'coach' their confidence out of them? We can blame LVG for some things, but I just don't get this particular argument.I can't really understand all the comments wondering whats went wrong with Memphis. It's painfully obvious he's suffered a massive lack of confidence. The lad has a lot of talent, natural ability as well as good physical attributes. He obviously came to the wrong manager at a crucial time in his development. LVG spent a full year coaching the confidence right out of him and trying to change his natural game. Now we're left with a player so different to what we bought, that he can't even get into the squad, yet the only way he will ever get back to his best, is by someone giving him a chance and having some belief in him and helping him get his confidence back.
He will always be a Nani type player. Someone who, in form is a devastating player and exciting to watch, yet can also look like a terrible player when going through a bad patch. The thing is, though, those types of players are match winners and crowd pleasers. I'd love to see him back to his best and I hope he goes out on loan and proves to Mourinho that he deserves a chance under him.
Sadly... The only matches I can recall being impressed with him in have been Midtjylland and Club Brugge :\

Not really, I can hate LVG for all the reasons but fact is that he's one of the people who very much trusted in Memphis, he played him in the NT, he brought him here, you can't really ask for more belief in somebody. It's just either lack of abiliy or proper attitude, or both.

Just because he bought him doesn't mean he trusted him as much. Memphis obviously needed the confidence from his manager but LvG and his trusting of players was misguided. Had he put as much confidence in Memphis as he did in the likes of Fellaini and Rooney maybe we could have seen a different player. Not really, I can hate LVG for all the reasons but fact is that he's one of the people who very much trusted in Memphis, he played him in the NT, he brought him here, you can't really ask for more belief in somebody. I don't get that either. If that was say Rooney with two goals against Luxembourg, some will put their house up in confidence that he will bag a hat trick against Arsenal. It's not like Holland were exactly cruising before he came on. Just give the kid credit, it's an international not a club match! There seems to be a desperation to discredit anything a player does. Especially Memphis. It's a good header and a good free kick no matter who is it against. I don't know if he meant it, but the free kick dips and bounces right infront of the goalkeeper, making it incredibly difficult to deal with. It's a good hit.

Or just a young lad struggling to adapt to a new country/club/football in his first season.
Bollocks
Talking more about talent wise. Never any guarantees(as we know only too well) but Firmino is a far better player.
That's quite a well reasoned, well thought out argument, you've put forward, there. Give me some time to properly respond to all the salient points you made and I'll get back to you in due course. Thanks for the input.Bollocks
Memphis was doing fine until LVG decided Martial would be better from the left wing, and that the captain "shall Always play" something then changed and his lack of playing time really hurt him. His cameos were never effective and it's gone wrong ever since then.
He was playing at a level we expected, a young dutch player getting used to a new league. He and Martial were linking up really nicely and there partnership was starting to look fruitful. Once Rooney came back it just wasn't the same.I disagree. He played well in one or two matches, but was invisible in most.

Is there absolutely nothing Rooney can't be blamed for?????He was playing at a level we expected, a young dutch player getting used to a new league. He and Martial were linking up really nicely and there partnership was starting to look fruitful. Once Rooney came back it just wasn't the same.
This I agree with. A lot of ifs and buts, but Martial had remained up top (who knows whether he is much better there) and Memphis was allowed to grow on the left, maybe things could have worked out differently. But the moment Rooney was reinstated, and Martial shifted to the left, we were never going to know what might have been.He was playing at a level we expected, a young dutch player getting used to a new league.
