Truly awful game.
Was so bloody boring that it's insane, dulling the game out that way should be a def-loss for lack of sportsmanship.

Surely not Khan?

You can laugh but Khan would give Floyd more problems than Manny did tonight.

Khan's never been out-boxed and he has bigger range than Manny, his one real question mark is his chin but Mayweather isn't knocking out anybody anymore.

Khan against Mayweather :lol::lol::lol::lol:

As for tonight, typical Mayweather. It's effective, it's great but not what the viewer wants to see.

He won. End of.

You can see why UFC is overtaking the sport though

Is it? I thought the UFC was falling behind the last couple years?

I feel for the juice heads that dropped $25 cover to watch this at a sports bar. That is one unsafe place to be at now.

It was a clear victory IMO. Mayweather is as attacking as Mourinho, but he knows how to win. Pacquiao should have gone for the killer in the ninth round when he was doing well. Somehow he backed off and let Mayweather play his own game.

It isn't a match that will be remembered forever though. My dad still talks for Ali vs Fraizer. This match in the other side, was quite of boring. Maybe this is why Mayweather won't be remembered as Robinson or Ali. Tactically great, but a very defensive fighter.

Mayweather's defence is just incredible. The way he avoids shots is a thing of beauty.

Surlely may weather can't be up there with the greatest? This tactic couldn't possibly work in the heavyweight category Against the biggest hitters?

Floyd 'Coward' Mayweather. Boring cnut, knows he would've got knock the f#ck out if he took the fight to Pac, run around like a lil b!tc#. Disappointed.

Better boxer won and comfortably too, Pac wasn't even close.

This. Pretty much always in control tonight, another complete schooling handed out. Nobody has figured out how to beat him, every time they say "this is the one he'll lose" he goes and proves it again and again why he's peerless.

This reminded me why I prefer UFC over boxing.

Not really, been so many decent fights this year and not all are a let down like this. Mayweather is a Mourinho, both are good but both can be very boring to watch especially if you're paying big money. UFC is boring as well, lots of gay holding on the floor, wrapping legs and what not for about ten minutes. 10 minutes running off or 10 minutes pinning down is all the same to me.

Watching Mayweather is a bit like a team doing what West Brom did v United throughout the CL and winning it. It's horrible, it's ugly, it's boring, it's infuriating but feck me it's effective.

As much as he's obsessed with money and puts on a show that he doesn't care what the fans think I reckon a guy that arrogant and in love with himself has got to be hurt that he doesn't get the love his ability deserves. Then again, his shameful behaviour out of the ring has that effect on people I guess.

As the most casual watcher of boxing i can understand the technical brilliance of what mayweathers doing here, but i think the sport as a spectacle is dying if this is the pinnacle. One person came to fight today, the other came to win on points. and thats fine and everything but its not great to watch.
Yeah, that pretty much perfectly sums up what I think. I'm sure Mayweather is technically brilliant and all that, but that was boring as feck. Wait for Manny to commit, throw a counter punch if possible or hold him and reset. Repeat.

Because Floyd can hurt him. That's what makes this such a fun fight. Not sure why some are upset as it was very tense throughout, Manny had speed and his flurries and Floyd was aware of that. But Floyd was bigger and arguably stronger, at least on the initiative.

Mayweather's style will never lend itself to one of those fights that is talked about for years afterwards. Most people probably couldn't tell you who Mayweather has fought because they usually go the same way. Someone tries to hit him, fails miserably, and Mayweather picks them apart with jabs and counters.

Technically, he's fantastic, there's no two ways about it. It just comes down to the argument of whether you'd rather lose an exciting fight, or win a boring one. Mayweather is in it to make money while he's doing it, and do it for as long as he can. The fact that he's 48-0...without ever really being in trouble (except for a brief moment against Mosley) shows how ordinary he makes some of these boxers appear. Pac gave up size and reach to De La Hoya and Margarito and destroyed both of them. He had no answer for Mayweather's technique here.

Some will call if "running" or w/e else, but at the end of the day, Mayweather is ridiculously good at what he does, and he has the best technique of any fighter...just not the most preferred style.

You can't watch much boxing to think that.
Not at all, hecers.
I only watch a few Brækhus fights and some fights that are on the tv when i'm visiting my father.
I want to be entertained though, and defensive chicken-runner isn't entertaining for me.
I'm more into football, so a good defensive performance there I'm better suited to understand and appreciate, but when i hear "boxing" then I'm thinking of men hitting each-other and trying to get the K.O.

Mayweather just controlled it from the mid-rounds onwards, I scored a couple of rounds level that might have gone either way but I had it 117-114 and I was probably a bit more generous than I could have been for Pacquiao because he was more aggressive.

But whatever, typical Mayweather fight and win. Can't knock that defense and counter punching, Pacquiao barely hit him.

I gave Manny 2 rounds, 3 at most.

I think Khan would trouble Mayweather more than Pacquiao did. Styles make fights!

Thought he was going to win but I was still surprised at how easy he made it look. Pac looked like he ran out of ideas pretty early.

Except it was very close on the score by the judges?

It would seem that someone with Paqs speed but with an advantage on reach would give Mayweather problems....dont most think Castillo beat him? I missed that fight.

Tbh I've seen similar dross served up by the like of Lyoto Machida. It's why I pretty much gave up on mma a couple of years ago too as this shit style was becoming too common.

Jon Bones is was a marvelous fighter to watch. He's like a thug version of Mayweather, no weaknesses.

Truly awful game.

Yeah and it seems like them boxing fans prefer someone who dodges punches and slows down the pace. I don't know why the onus is on Pacquaio to be the aggressor and penalised if he fails to do so. In that case shouldn't points be deducted from Mayweather for doing almost absolutely feck-all from an offensive point of view?

Mayweather picked up something between $100m-$200m for that  fecking madness.

You have to admire Floyd's defense, it's impeccable, along with his controversial persona and being a mega cnut he's made a very successful career out of it. But you would expect a lot more from an all time great boxer than a great defense, to be an all time great you have to be great in attack and entertaining, these are the boxes Floyd comes nowhere near to. Would place him 10-15 all time wise.

Hardly running, Pacquiao just couldn't close the distance. The first three and mid-to-last few rounds were all in the middle of the ring. Floyd completely controlled it.

I don't know what people expected from Mayweather, that's his style. Manny could have done more though. We ended up getting a shit, uneventful fight. UFC provides better entertainment, but it isn't on the same level when it comes to attracting fans.

Absolutely outstanding from Floyd.
Anyone who thinks he wasn't doesn't understand how hard it is to be that good defensively. He is a freak.
Spot on. The epitome of his defensive ability was when Pac had him on the ropes in the second and backed off.

Good fight. Not great obviously, and I sure as hell wouldn't have wanted to pay for that, but it was a defensive masterclass from Mayweather.

He'd get knocked out and would it really fly as PPV? Feck, it's 6am and I'm not that sleepy:(
