I'm hoping we get a terrific fight. Can't wait for this to start.

Is the referee someone who could be a disruption? I always thought the ref in the Hatton-Floyd fight was too involved. Prefer referees who let the fighters get on with it.

I think the ref will be fine, there usually aren't many clinches in Pacquiao fights cause he's in and out so quickly.

Will the winner be remembered as the Mohammed Ali of our era?
I'd say more like the Ray Leonard.

I can see mayweather tieing him up more than he is used to... A bit like he did with Hatton though not to the same extent as manny steps out a bit quicker and with much more variation in angles

He is a lot faster on his feet than Hatton in fairness. Possibly the fastest in boxing. Mayweather is supreme on the inside though but Pacquiao is generally in, out and/or change the angle. I am hoping that Mayweather won't be able to deal with the foot work as he seems to have definitely slowed down in that regard recently.

Aye, that was Joe Cortez and he was appalling in the Hatton fight. I think referees with always favour Floyd.

With this being such a huge, profitable fight however there's a chance that Bayless will be less willing to break them up so quickly. It's one thing marring the Maidana fight but this a completely different level of event.

Why do referees favour Mayweather? Why did Mayweather have his prison sentence deferred by an Vegas judge so he could fight? Why does the Vegas commission take no action against Mayweather for domestic violence convictions when they have against other fighters for lesser misdemeanors? Why does Mayweather never leave Vegas to box?

Floyd Mayweather is big business in Vegas, a significant industry. There is a vested interest in keeping that gravy train on the rails. In layman's terms - $$$.

Isn't it also because Nevada is the only State in the USA which allows the use of Xylocaine, something Mayweather has been using for quite a long time? Or is that just one of the main issues?

In Vegas he holds all the aces. He can dictate the terms to everyone. He is a massive industry in that state, as is evident right now. His prison sentence was deferred because the Vegas economy would have lost $100m if he couldn't fight. That is serious power and tells you all that you need to know.

I mean, if the question is - do certain referees understand their role? What do you think, how much do they get paid for working this level? There is no central controlling body. They are independent contractors essentially. Boxing is a good lesson in the inherent problems of free market capitalism.

I sent out a link to a few of the users. It's what I usually use to stream football and boxing. But I'm ordering tonight so I don't know how it'll behave.

The 2 ring announcers will take turns in announcing the result if it goes to the scorecards. I hope they don't start fighting between themselves as to who speaks more!!

For someone who isn't a regular boxing watcher, am I correct in assuming these things:

1) Pacquiao has a stronger punch but Mayweather is better defensively and is faster?
2) Mayweather always chooses wisely when to fight. He avoided the match 5 years ago when Pacquiao was at his best.
3) The referee is with Mayweather.

I'd say that's quite accurate but I'd suggest Manny is quicker than Mayweather.

What time do I need to wake up for this? UK time please

Any room for one more in this great big streaming orgy?
