Interesting, I guess our best bet would be at Bayern balking at the price as we're not really in a position to compete with them at the moment.

Wish we had a good working relationship with juve.
Whaddya mean good relationship? We give them players for free and buy them back for 100m, then give them back again for free. Basically, we are their Abu Dhabi laundretta.

Would you say you and the guy who mugged 30 dollars of of ya on the street have good working relationship?

If he’s open to joining us, I’d rather pay an extra £15-20 million for De Ligt than get Martinez for close to £50 million.

He's not choosing us over Bayern
That's a battle we'll lose in every universe

Bavarian is a terrible accent. We may win that one

Really? Which accent would consider as ear pleasing?
Coming from Rhineland Palatinate myself I always thought Bavarian is one of the better sounding dialects in Germany.

I think everything not swabian, bavarian or saxonian is tolerable. But that may of course just be me.

Oh and don't get me started on austrian and swiss 'german'

Guess you haven't been up north much then. ;-)

Just seems these dialects are more common as they are proud to use their accent e.g. Beckenbauer. Most others parts only use dialects in their hometown

Since when bayern buy players for huge amount?
And why Juventus are selling De Ligt if he's really good?

Didnt they pay about that for Lucas Hernandez as well

As for Juve I think they took a reasonably big hit during covid and have been trying to get their wage bill down (Ronaldo, Ramsey, Dybala etc)

Only defenders, somehow. Second 80m+ € transfer after Hernandez.
Well... money? And apparently the player wants to leave.

They typically don't but they've paid quite handsomely for defenders in the past, they spent 80m on Lucas Hernandez 3 years ago.

Juventus are acquiescing to his demands to leave because he's refusing to renew and will have a year left on his contract soon so this is their best chance to sell for a good profit

Every time I hear or see this overrated cnuts name the 'Afternoon Delight' song from Arrested Development gets stuck in my head.

That's all.

Lucas 80, Upamecano 40M, Pavard 35M Javi Martinez 40M(10yrs ago)

He's going to Bayern.
Don't even consider him.

Apparently only a year of contract left and he’s going to cost 90M euros of a deal? Isn’t that too much or are Bayern too rich?

Don't believe that is correct

His contract is until 2024. 2 years left. I also doubt Bayern are offering that much. 90 million Euro are Juventus asking price.

Two years and Bayern will not pay a fix sum of €90m. I‘d expect €70m.

Anyone on the outs at Bayern now that De Ligt is coming in? Bid for Pavard maybe? Way better option than our shower of shite at the back.

Pavard is pretty shite himself, earned himself a move to Bayern off the back of that worldie against Argentina and he's been the weak link in their defense since.

Can do much better than him...

This tactic worked so well under Woodward.
Just because his reign was an unmitigated disaster doesn’t mean every little part is wrong.
I fail to see not offering money for players the manager wants to sign being a great strategy for the rebuild.

What happens when the next player says “if X is on Y then why would I sign for less?” it’s a fecking stupid tactic designed for short term boosts that long term does serious damage.

I heard Barca were preparing a 50m offer

What a joke Barca have become.

It's kinda funny. Barca needs to reduce wage bill but makes bids for about every top player in Europe which is only remotely on the market.

Christiansen? Oh, we'll take that.
Kessie? Oh, we'll take that as well.
Lewandwoski? Yes please.
Raphina? Oooh shiny, want.
de Ligt? Here, here, where do I sign up?

They can't fit any of these players wages into their wage budget for next season, but hey who cares. :wenger:

I just wonder when they will ask to get Ronaldo as part of the de Jong deal.

Oooh I have a great idea for them. Instead of selling parts of their TV rights and other commercial rights to companies, they should just use it to pay their players, this way they can get around the salary cap completely and sign whoever the feck they want. Lewa will simply earn 30% of their game revenue for the next 20 years. Foolproof plan. :D

Everything to do with signing players and contracts was wrong. Throwing money at the problem was definitely a massive fail and is why we're in this mess.
