I am one of the biggest Muppets on the forum. I refreshed the Pogba thread every 2 mins for 3 months.

But there is no joy in in used by Raiola to squeeze money out of Barca. He doesnt deserve our green hearted love

Someone commented on twitter than if United sign De Ligt with a shit poor structure at boardroom level, an inexperienced manager and backroom staff, no champions league football and in an absolute mess in terms of playing staff, you got to put us as the best club in the world. No fecker could pull that off.

Not to piss on anyones chips as I'm on the verge of going full muppet myself, but this whole reddit ITK thing where someone is claiming they have friends in marketing and scouting confirming things. How the feck would people in marketing and scouting know what's going on with transfer dealings? Scoutings job is done if we've already had a bid accepted and marketing won't be involved until we've signed him. Just sounds like utter bollocks to me.

Raiola doesnt care where he goes, he is only loyal to the green. The way he sees it, if de ligt comes here then so be it, huge payday for him and potentially another one in four five years.

I’m 39 and only just discovering this mad place , I’ve been a muppet all these years without ever really realising it , thank you for the clarification

Who’s the most miserable of muppets? That’s who I take after. I can’t get excited about this outside chance of him coming. The supposed wages are too high. I understand why most won’t care, though.

It’s not easy being green!

Marketing guys would know a transfer in advance to formulate a plan around the new player, especially one who cost 70 million pounds

They weren’t even saying the deal was completed, just that a bid had been accepted. I very much doubt marketing would be involved if a transfer wasn’t 100% settled.

It’s all BS, It’s just the first time he’s slipped up.

For those asking (and because I can't respond both people excited and now trying to worried about the validity);

This is the info:

  • Announcement today is VERY UNLIKELY. What is predicted is that news outlets will soon start popping up with what was already reported by Mundo Deportivo earlier and pushing it as their own news (some already have but I mean that actual reliable people will start - Tier 3's and possibly 2's)

  • The player contract is still to be finalised (it is said to be a fecking insane contract offer) and as with all things, it can still fall apart (Griezmann anyone?)

  • The current situation is that we have contacted VdS and he has accepted an offer of £85m.
Overall knowledge on this:

  • I have had 2 people outside of reddit tell me that we were in for De Ligt, but the expectation was that we were plan B for him, with them both expecting Barca to be where he ends up. That was highlighted in the very first set of posts I made.

  • The "first offer" was sent back and then we made a formal approach.
Tonights news

  • I (and several others) received a note that United had made a breakthrough. Before this ever actually happened (ie: just as others were posting it) I got a message from a User that I've been speaking to since I made my first post (/u/RightSaidFred_MUFC) that he too received that info. I reached out to my United guy, who after me confirming Fred as one of my "less reliable" contacts (and I only say that because he is sharing indirect info, where as the people I have been talking to are very much in the firing line so to speak so I can't verify where it is coming from), has verified that we have jumped ahead in the De Ligt negotiations (we have made a formal bid to Ajax that has been accepted) and that proper contract discussions with the player had already begun.

  • /u/rightsaidfred_mufc is someone that has taken some of my other comments and actually gone and helped show that they're not right. He is also the very first person to lay out details of AWB and Daniel James to me.

  • At NO POINT in time has Mbappe come up (until now when he says he was lied to and deleted it after I had removed it for being low-quality transfer rumours).

  • Together the two of us (using all sources available) have confirmed information that each other has heard independently on several occasions (De Gea, AWB, James).
An overview of everything I've discussed so far is here: https://www.reddit.com/r/spoofex/comments/bs2j3q/summer_2019_transfer_history/

The intention is not to dupe, or cause any false hopes knowing it was wrong, and I DO TRUST FRED. I was one of the first people to try and take the idea of the Transfer Reliability Guide (originally created by /u/cananada88) and took it to spreading it out of /r/reddevils after a few years too.

If anyone needs crucifying for something going wrong on this sub as a result of muppetry and hype getting out of hand; it's my fault and mine alone, please do not harrass the people that are genuinely trying to bring some legit info into the subreddit and have been given a platform to do so.

I've put it in spoiler tags incase anyone doesn't want to read it.

Covered their ass by mentioning the Griezmann deal changing and that their contacts feel he'll stillgo to Barca. The bit about the press is obviously going to happen because that's what the British Press do and that'll make them (spoofex) look reliable.

Same thing was said in the Pogba thread.

Just let yourself go, mate.

Key difference is that I always felt Pogba was at least interested in returning. Feels to me that De Ligt has his heart set on Barca and if he really is a 'teenage captain marvel' is he really going to turn down his dream move because his agent wants a higher fee

He's really bought into himself. Gone full IndiKaila. A youtube channel due any day now.

:nono: It's the best insight we've got! Twitter is tame these days.
Ah now he suddenly has underlings etc, it just gets in the way of proper discussion. It's one of those were posters on here will shit on the state of our club that will continue on for months when he does to go Barca based on a bluffer from Reddit who raised their hopes up.
There's enough to shit on our club for!

Whether the sources are accurate or it is a complete fabrication its still worth remembering that anything can happen with transfers so treat everything with scepticism. Shit we've had Moura drop out the week of his medical for a better offer, Griezmann change his mind due to a transfer ban. . We even signed a player (obi mikel) and he didn't join in the end..

I feel bad when good journos get hammered when things fall through, even though they were right up to that point.

As @Ajaxsuarez pointed out, Barca has never been his dream and he loves English culture as well as English football.

Embrace people. No proper club football for 3 months. Mupperty keeps us going!!

laughing at "van der sar has accepted the 85m offer"

What's more likely, A) Ajax has completely changed their organisational structure and division of responsibilities within the club etc for this one transfer or B) Overmars is in charge of all transfer dealings, as always, with a board of directors (of which vds is not one) that have to approve his decisions, and a fake reddit ITK is not familiar enough with other clubs for his fabrications on that front to be accurate?

Muppets move in mysterious ways.

 something about that phrase just tickles me

Very good point. That Mikel transfer...my god could you imagine if that happened today with Twitter and Reddit and all. Then there was Robben - didn't Kenyon hijack that one late from us?

Griezman I also felt was purely down to the transfer ban and him trying to be a good human, but coming off as a knob.

With De Ligt, I see all his Instagram action as a sign that he's trying convince himself this is a good move. So quick - hide all the evidence of our terrible seven seasons except for the big wins and positive highlights!

I'm no transfer Muppet by any means, I don't believe any newspaper, journalist, itk but I have a good feeling about this potential signing. I feel like we are due a big revamp and will make 1 or 2 statement signings this summer, we Ligt being one of them. It's just a feeling i have. I will wait and see.
