Obviously Sky are quashing it. They've still got the Benatia announcement ready to go, once his plane lands, which supposedly has been orbiting the Moon since 2014.

Or in 2013, when they announced that we were interesting in Ozil only to be told about 15 minutes later that we weren't.

The overreaction in here to Stone's "feelings"

You guys need to get a grip, it's still happening.

Not really suprised. Few clubs in the world club can compete with Barca when it comes to pulling power. Griezmanm, De Ligt and De Jong in one window, they have gone mental

Wanking muppets have more pulling power

So how can he have already agreed a deal to go if they're using our name to improve the deal? There is no deal, until a deal has been done
As I said, I am not ITK but you can provisionally agree to a contract with the club without signing it yet. Verbally agree to £150k/week, create fake/use genuine interest from another club and say someone else offered £200k and ask them to improve their offer, even though you have no intention of going there. It's basics of negotiations.

These "updates" confirm no one in UK know anything but just speculating.

Simon Stone: I’ve no idea if United are going to sign De Ligt.

Red cafe: That’s it, it’s off. Goodbye, now. Bye.

Back to the Longstaff and Daniel James threads we go. I have a feeling that we're gonna have a disappointing window for some reason...
Look, this is your first transfer saga, you never give up at the first set back. Until De Ligt himself or Ajax come out and confirm he's off to Barcelona we don't stop believing. Did United give up while trailing 1-0 to Bayern? Stay strong, get on Reddit, see what the ITK's are saying, check Instagram, see what De Ligt is liking. It's not over until it's over.

Latest reports make sense, it would be in Woodward's best interest to control expectations. I think this is 50 / 50 and nothing has changed.

Ok, in all seriousness, problem here is that the only credible source came from Barca camp which did the exact same thing with De Jong and will publish often to create some narrative that suits Barcelona.

In this case, Barcelona Mes que un whatever beating money and winning the race for best young CB in the world. It can soften the blow after being humiliated in CL for the second year running.

Di Marzio silence and nothing or pretty much negative from British media is also telling.
But, this was always going to be a long shot and almost impossible to pull off.

Sky, ESPN, stones put out a tweet within space of half hour all pointing in the same direction. Looks like a briefing.

I'm so sad right now. Another year of Smalldini and Jones is not comforting at all.

So you're saying that no one has signed a contract therefore no deal has been done?

Until ink is on paper it's open waters.

From Barca source (Gerard Romero), De Ligt still not agree to sign for Barca because of United huge contract on the table.
From United source (Skysports and Mark Ogden), United will not sign De Ligt despite we offered most money to the player.

Just different views but same information.

Haha been coming to the transfer forum since the Sneijder transfer saga, I was depressed for months after. You never really get over your first heartbreak but I keep coming back for more. The addiction is real!...

Doesn't mean we're not going to sign him though. I remember some English journos saying we weren't going to sign Di Maria. If I remember correctly Jamie Jackson was saying he wasn't coming when Di Maria was on his way to Carrington for a medical. Ogden said we weren't in for Herrera then a few hours later a transfer was agreed.

It's depend on who's reporting on Skysports. James Cooper and Gullem Balague are both used as "Sky sources". It can be huge difference.

United are linked with loads of players. Why come out and deny this one? Hmmm. Because we genuinely won’t get him, worried about the figures being associated and impact that could have on future deals or so, when we sign him, we can sell it as an even bigger coup? It’s suspicious.

YouTube impressionist: this is my one and only football tweet ever and there's no reason I would know this, but De Ligt is on

Caf: OMFG!ITSON!WAAAA!COCKSOUT!feckOFFBARCA!RIO!RIO!RIO!

Someone will tweet something in the next 24 hours to bring the cycle back around again. At least its more entertaining than actually watching us play...

Guys, English hacks know absolutely nothing of this. Especially Sky Sports. Their credibility is laughably bad at this point.

Simon Stone doesn’t know what’s happening which tells you we’ve kept a tight ship in terms of what’s happening behind the scenes. Think about it in logical terms, if Stone doesn’t know, if we’re interested, then how on earth would Sky know that we're not?

Read back the two tweets from Stone. They are clearly his opinion and not a bit of information that he had been given. And it’s an opinion that makes sense actually. No way, we’d confirm or deny this, Woodward has learned about leaks getting out and deals falling through. It makes us look incompetent and foolish.
