Introducing our new #4! Welcome to Manchester Matthijs!

Matthijs de Ligt said: “As soon as I heard that Manchester United wanted me, I felt an excitement about the opportunity for a new challenge at such an historic club. In the conversations that followed, I was impressed by the vision that the football leadership set out, and the role they saw for me in it.

“Erik ten Hag shaped the early stages of my career, so he knows how to get the best out of me and I cannot wait to work with him again. I know what it takes to succeed at the highest level, and I’m determined to continue that record at this special club.

Could be a transformational signing when you consider what we were forced to field in defence throughout preseason and in the Community Shield. Dalot - De Ligt - Licha - Mazraoui looks really good on paper.

Might be the signing I'm most excited about, think he'll bring a lot of stability to our backline and will form a stout partnership with Martinez.

Perfect profile for a youngster like Yoro to learn from as well in terms of experience and leadership intangibles.

Wouldn't surprise me if he's on of our vice captains within the next 2 years

Happij daijs that we signed him. Hopefullij he can plaij Fridaij and is worth the moneij.

With him and Lisandro at the back we have two brilliant characters.. very exciting signing.

extremely happy with this. He'll be a fan favorite in no time and people will be pleasantly surprised with what he can do!

Twitter admin seem to have gone a bit early, no page on the website, nothing in the app

Usually we announce this kind of thing on the hour, 20:10 seems like
a bit of a random time to post it

It’s working now. The webpage is up.

The guy was once a biggest talent in his position type of player who hasn’t fully realised that potential and has levelled out to a decent CB at this point in his career.

Hopefully the foundations here, playing under his previous manager, will get him back to that level.

Completely different positions but could sort of see it like an Odegaard thing of finding the perfect club and really elevating his game accordingly.

But, but I heard he's too lightweight.....delighted with this, will hopefully be a great signing for us.
