I do like that the transfer has been so under the radar though. Very much reminds me of Evra and Vidic. Both well thought of in Europe but totally unhyped in England, and the transfers were basically done before anyone knew anything was happening.

So you decided to come in and denigrate the signing of a new players in a position that needs filling, where you admit there is no one better available, because he isn't another player in another position?

That makes no sense.

Signing this kid doesn't prevent us from signing Ramos, or some other 'sign of intent'. It's like waiting for someone to pick you up and being mad at the cars that pass for not being your ride.
 
He can cover left back as well cant he (not that we are short of options there) - seems a very good price when you consider players like Clyne would cost a similar amount - not that Im denigrating Clyne but he has not got the experience and proven consistency of Darmian.

Hope we can keep Rafael as well but I expect we wont

This is the kind of signing which doesn't send shivers through our rivals, but does drastically improve the team. As oppose to the likes of Falcao, where the complete opposite happened.

Correct. Too many people on the Caf seem to had have had all memory of Valencia 2009-2012 erased when he was giving Rooney assists every other week and went on to win PoTY. Was the best winger in the league for a while.
 
Actually surprised that so many people seem not to know him given he featured in the WC and games against England and Ireland. He was brought up a few times when people were talking about the better option than Clyne that must be out there.

Anyways, this looks done and for a good price too. Darmian, Schneiderlin and Depay would be three very sensible signings, good to see.

It's a picture of his farewell message in italian and the tweet says Darmian farewell message... I don't know Italian so can't help you with the message. Goes something like 3 great years at Torino, thanks the manager later on... Think he mentions how he's looking forward to his new quest? Translating italian based on my french knowledge works well clearly :lol:

Matteo Darmian: Man Utd close to signing Torino defender

Manchester United hope to sign Torino defender Matteo Darmian in time for him to be involved in their pre-season tour of the United States.

The Premier League club are not commenting on reports in Italy that a £12.9m transfer has been concluded, but negotiations are at an advanced stage.

Darmian, 25, can play across the defence and started all Italy's matches at last summer's World Cup in Brazil.

United are due to leave for Seattle on Monday.

So far, Manchester United manager Louis Van Gaal's only summer signing is £31m winger Memphis Depay, who is scheduled to be presented to the media on Friday.

There has still been no resolution to any potential transfer deal with Real Madrid involving Spain defender Sergio Ramos and United goalkeeper David De Gea.

United are also expected to maintain their interest in Southampton's France midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin, for whom they have already had one bid turned down.

He's basically thanking the fans and Ventura (their coach) and the whole squad for great 3 years, says that Torino will always be his second home and all that shit.

I can't speak Italian but it seems to be fairly understandable.

From a part-time footballer instagram stalker point of view, all the other Darmian instagram accounts are filled with just his official photos, or photos with either Torino or Italy. The account that posted the message, on the other hand, has a lot of personal photos, including quite a few with his wag and friends that it looks quite genuine. The only downside is that it was opened only 12 weeks ago.
 
This is the kind of transfer saga I like. Over and done in a week and 30 pages.
