It's painful watching him play football.

Yeah would rather see Young or even Fred the Red this guy is horrible.
 
He should come off at half time to compensate for the red card. What a terrible player.

But yeah I think with west ham being 1 man down and are going to defend more, subbing him for blind and martial ahead of him would be good to break them down.

Just that blind is not on the bench.
 
I don't recall seeing anything particularly shocking from him, in fact before the red when we were on the back foot he made 2 very good tackles on Payet and Lanzini.
 
It's almost funny how bad he is, when you consider the knee-jerking over his one/two good games.
 
told you he was shit, some believed in him... baffling that he still gets some minutes, when we have better options - even rooney would do better there..

He doesn't have to make a few howlers to perform poorly.
 
That 2015 transfer window will go down as one of our worst. Only Martial was a good buy that summer.

Darmian should not be here next season.
 
Overreaction! Wasn't a great performance but you'd think he scored 3 ogs with some comments here

So bad that we should have sacked LvG that summer! I mean what the hell was he thinking? He fecked up our transfers big time.

Yeah shocking transfer window.

Even 2014 was a flop too. LVG failed in the transfer windows completely.
 
The problem with some of the weaker players in our squad is that some people seem to be happy with: "well, he wasn't that bad." Fellaini and Lingard are two other examples, meanwhile, notable contributions are expected of everybody else. The likes of Darmian doesn't make a howler, wins a couple of tackles and, that's it, not that bad...

I don't want "not that bad." I want bloody good. Like Pogba, Herrera, Ibrahimovic and Valencia.

Darmian is a full back for United and offers absolutely nothing to our attacking game. It's not good enough.
 
I don't get the hate on here at times. He wasn't woeful. Defensively, he was solid. Offensively, erm, well, we know how he is. A 6.5/10 for me.

Are you saying Valencia was bloody good today ? He was responsible for the Antonio chance with his poor positioning. Or that Jones was really good ? I don't understand the logic. Every team is going to have a couple of players who are slightly above average and give you the sort of performance you'd normally expect from them. The same was expected from Darmian defensively and he delivered. But the overreaction in this place is unbelievable.

Darmian isn't good enough. In fact, he's nowhere near good enough.

We played our second game in 3 days. He's good enough to be a squad member and get the odd game here and there. Just like Lingard. Not everyone is built like Valencia to play so many games in a few short days. Our first choice LB is injured. Blind was probably tired. Darmian is 3rd or even 4th choice at LB. If you have that in mind, he performed like he was expected to.

No, but he's been good all season long. The entire side was poor today, but the vast majority of our players have a purpose, or a role, in this current side. Darmian is merely there, doing absolutely nothing noteworthy at all.

You seem to think what Darmian is offering is good enough. Well, in short, it isn't. I don't think so, anyway.
 
He was fine, the overreaction is bizarre. There's no inbetween I swear.

He's a squad player, when Shaw is back firing he'll be first choice LB.

I can't agree. I think over the past few years we've given a free pass to far too many players who are apparently 'good squad players' when in reality, a fair few weren't / aren't good enough to be here.

Darmian, for me, simply isn't good enough. He's iffy defensively and offers nothing going forward. There's no way he should be here.
 
Not a fan of his but he wasn't as bad as people are saying in here. Made a few good tackles and had some nice forwards runs. Far from his worst appearance for us. Still, at the end of the day he just isn't good enough for United.

I expected a typical Darmian in a United shirt performance and I got it. He was good defensively, dominating most one vs one's and offensively, he made a couple of decent runs. It wasn't helped by the fact that Lingard also didn't offer much ahead of him. I'm not defending him because I'm a huge fan of him or whatever. It's the overreaction I don't get. He's good enough to be 3rd or 4th Choice LB.

Darmian isn't even the first choice or second choice left back at the club. Are you suggesting we go spend 30m and more to bring in a 3rd choice left back ? Don't suggest CBJ now since his game time and exposure has been very limited and it's almost impossible to tell how he'll develop and fare.

Lets be honest describe his performance however you want, but what he offered today isn't good enough even from a squad player. Buttner was better and thats saying something. He offered nothing going forward today, nothing making the odd run forward isn't enough. As a full back half his game is attacking, and he is awful at it. He needs to contribute to the teams attacking play. Against 10 men he didn't feck up defensively fair enough, but he didn't have much to do after the red.

He also doesn't work hard enough either in my opinion, at one point the ball came to his side and he just jogged towards it with no haste to launch a counter. Kouyate just ran past him and got the ball and could have set up an attack and caused us problems.
 
I'd be quite interested to see how many times he's managed the combo of 90mins without a yellow card.

I'd be amazed if it's over 5.

Weak, slow, constantly booked, and very often substituted, often to prevent a red.

When the heck is Shaw back?

We weren't exactly creating a lot of chances in the first half. Up until the Rashford substitution, we were pretty average. It was a collective problem, not one that can be pointed at Darmian specifically. Even Valencia was pretty poor by your definition then.

I don't think he's good enough to be here, that's it really. As an Italian international, I imagine he himself, won't be too happy to be 3rd / 4th choice, so thankfully I can see him leaving this summer.
