I must say I don't really get this transfer. Not the best career move for him. For his sake I hope he gets enough games.

Such a random transfer for Madrid, a player still not formed into an actual position who needs game time and patience, things Madrid don't afford players.

Really didn't expect that. Not sure who's position he'll be battling for. Modric's bac up? Or will he be further up and battling it out for that spot between behind Benzema?

Weird move. Was not good and consistent enough for Inter so far and Real is a different calibre. Expected him to stay for 1,2 more years and establish himself as one of the best midfielders in Italy and help Inter back to the top. Now he will probably waste 2 years there, maybe he can step up.

From what i have seen he is not a midfielder in a two man midfield, suits a three man midfield while being the most attacking one and allowed to use his dribbling ability.

Yeah, the transfer make little sense, especially for the player because he's going to struggle to get game time over Isco/James/Modric/Kroos. He'll be a useful squad addition but at this stage of his career, he needs more game time.

Bad move for him.
Looks like you all were right.

SSNHQ... KOVACIC FUTURE UNCERTAIN

Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic admits he does not know whether he will remain at the Bernabeu this summer, although he has ruled out a return to former club Inter Milan.

Kovacic joined Madrid from Inter in a €30m deal last summer, but he struggled for first-team football at his new club during the 2015/16 season.

He has been tipped to head back to Serie A – AC Milan and Juventus are among his suitors – although a return to Inter is not on the cards.

Speaking to Sport Mediaset, the Croatian said: “Milan or Juve? You never know what will happen in the future, I do not know what is going to happen.

“I will not return [to Inter Milan] with [Roberto] Mancini on the bench. I had a strange relationship with him, but they are my things and there is no need to talk [about it].”

Should we take a punt on him?

Been meaning to bump this thread for a few weeks now. Great talent who will likely be available. Don't know if his head is right, but he is a great, great talent.

C.Ron pretty much public said he was sh!t so no!!! Not good enough. Go back to Inter.

Would make sense for him to consider his options as Madrid likely will not shuffle the cards in center midfield. Wouldn't walk into any other top side though and England doesn't really seem a perfect fit for him from a physical perspective - but then again Modric made it work so he could to.

On a sidenote it's another display of the problem Madrid is facing. They signed topshots for almost every position that all seem very powerful and therefore hard to drop which in turn doesn't allow them to satisfy the desired playing time of top personell on the bench. Barça faces the same problem, they don't even have a decent back up as replacement for the front three, because they can't get such a player to sit on the bench if nothing happens injury-wise.

This was the only way this was ever going to end. He's wasted a lot of time now development wise. Will still be a good buy for most tier 2 clubs and that's where he should go rather than moving to another big team where he isn't first choice.

Interesting that you think he'd not get enough game time at United.

I think he would.

Dortmund should be all over this, they are having a nightmare transfer window so far, could be getting even worse

He screams a Tottenham player to me.

I think he could actually be a good option for us, certainly not a downgrade on Ander in terms of creative central midfielder.
