He'd be snip at 50, and we'd have the best midfield in the league with him, Matic and Pogba.
Not a United player in my opinion. Would be better suited in the Serie A.
A joke, surely? He's better then Pogba.

I'm usually against the idea of signing players that already played for Madrid/Barca. I don't think they know how big Manchester United is. And let's face it, nobody wants to leave those two teams for us. It's seen as a "step down" for them. Why not?
Release clause 50 million Euros. I'd take him in a heartbeat over the rumored Sergi Roberto.
What happened to the Nzonzi deal?Kovacic is talented but immature as a top-level player with respect to decision making, synchrony with team movements and matchflow management. We have had a poor man version in Lemina for two years and he just couldn't be relied upon, thank goodness he is on his way to Soton. I think the 85m+Kovacic for Dybala is fake, Allegri is looking for a far more experienced CM at this stage, he got Bentancur from Boca as a prospect already.

table tennisAt what?
He has, but he's not wrong. Kovacic is still quite raw overall. The problem is he's just about good at everything, but great at nothing. He's got good vision, passing range and quality, yet he doesn't make much with it. His workrate is good, but he has a tendency to stop thinking and make stupid mistakes. Nobody quite knows whether he's at his best in a more defensive role, a box-to-box role, a string-puller, or an attacking midI think he's progressed a bit further than you're giving him credit for, but I don't really see him fitting in at Juventus all that well.

There's a lot of untapped talent there, problem is it's been a few years now and he hasn't shown much progress...

True that. Was too lazy to mention itGreat at nothing?
He is one of the better dribblers in the world as a cm, has one of the best touches, and his ball control is great. His passing is good, and can vary to great from time to time, he is pretty strongly built and works hard while only being 23, those are the ingredients for a top cm, if Madrid don't want to utilise it then sell him to a top team in England and see how its done.
Perhaps it's too early for that, the same things were said about Isco and Varane as well while being at the career stage Kovacic is at now. Unreliable, subpar decisions, not enough progress, they'll probably never make the final steps, and so on.True that. Was too lazy to mention it
Everything else i said stands though. He's still far from being the finished product, and i have doubts he ever will. He's still only 23, but he's spent the last 4 and 1/2 seasons between inter and real madrid and the only real improvement from when he was 18 was adding a decent/good shot and working harder on defence. I dunno, for a top talent his development has been pretty slow. Ceballos is better than him imho, and he's 2 years younger
Oh yes, you make a valid point and i'd be happy to see the club give him more time. I also wouldn't be against selling him though, for the right offer. Simply put, he's a great talent, but we have other great talents in midfieldPerhaps it's too early for that, the same things were said about Isco and Varane as well while being at the career stage Kovacic is at now. But these issues improved significantly towards their mid-20s, after several seasons of gaining experience as rotation players - similar to the phase Kovacic is about to enter. Now they are part of the first team. Vice versa, the James case: a young player did very well when he was given proper game time and looked increasingly lost the more he was denied playing regularly. Composure and a steady rhythm are related for young players, I guess.
So maybe Kovacic just needs to mature in a similar fashion to the two players mentioned above by patiently gaining more and more match experience. I certainly liked what I saw in 2017 so far, and I think he has the tools to be a Real Madrid CM. This season will probably be crucial for his future.

He really isn't. Offensively he's nowhere near the top bracket.I like him a lot but Herrera has really grown on me. I feel Ander is almost as good as any other central midfielder out there. At least he keeps improving every time and that's a sign of great potential. Kovacic also plays as a deep lying playmaker so his versatility gives him that extra edge. Having him, Pogba, Matic, Herrera and Perreira as options to choose from for the midfield would be incredible.
