Gaming Mass Effect: Andromeda (PC, PS4, Xbox One)

That quote wasn't the one I was referring to regarding kids.

I heard the quote myself without realising the furore - only after realising how much of a fuss it had caused.

Anyway - I still believe the game wasn't written maturely (hence my flippant comment about it being done for kids)
Fair enough, I do agree that the writing, although intentionally light hearted, isn't quite as tight or engaging as the previous.

Those forced lines of dialogue ruin the atmosphere for me. Those unbearable 'jokes' completely disregard the supposed gravity of the situation - being in a deadly environment lightyears from help, relying only on your own capacities for survival. It's so game-y in a bad and obvious way that it never allows for immersion in the game world.

I think the pcworld review posted here summed it up well. RPGs have come on a long way since the original trilogy but Bioware haven't, it seems they thought that as long as they made a game with the ME logo and the same core mechanics but on a bigger more open world scale that they'd be on to a winner. But fetch quests and wooden dialogue are no longer acceptable. Huge world's without any depth are no longer acceptable.

To be fair the amount of similar side quests make the game feel like an episode of Teletubbies - "Again, Again!"

Over the next two months we’ll be rolling out additional patches which will go even deeper and look to improve several areas of the game:

  • More options and variety in the character creator
  • Improvements to hair and general appearance for characters
  • Ongoing improvements to cinematic scenes and animations
  • Improvements to male romance options for Scott Ryder
  • Adjustments to conversations with Hainly Abrams

Priorities.

Priorities.
The upcoming patch aims to fix most of the bugs that people have been complaining about. Nothing wrong with them also stating what they intend to do after those are all fixed. Hopefully they also find time to fix the shitty baddie.

Inventory size doubled and cut-scenes in galaxy map skippable - two of my big issues being addressed.

It'd be nice if they had statistics for the game, like which squadmates you've used the most. Number of headshots. Number of -insert enemy here- killed.

Although I might be the only person sad enough to want that.

Does this game has a set of characters comparable with Garrus, Liara, Tali and Wrex? If yes, then it has one of the best set of characters in video gaming.

Drack is Wrex levels of awesome. Jaal has huge potential also. Garrus potential.

Who's Hainly Abrams and why are they an issue?

Nobody is Garrus potential my man. Wash your mouth out!

The guy is a legend. He is more than a companion - he is a loyal brother.

So they aren't playing the artistic integrity card on this one? That only applies when they insult everyone with their horrendously written ending?

This is a problem of their own making. Their aggressive attempts at being inclusive combined with their recent bad writing was always going to end this way. I'm surprised more people weren't up in arms about that mage in DA:I that made you go talk to his dad about him being gay while you were trying to fight big crap demons. Being inclusive is fine, but Bioware seem to be really bad at it. Like they have to be so in your face about it that it stops seeming genuine.

Yeah, watching a YouTube clip it seems extremely heavy-handed.

This is the truth.

Not what you're asking for, but I came across this a while back.

The way they did it for the minor character in DA:I (Krem? One of Iron Bull's people) was done pretty well by all accounts - they do seem to try way too hard most of the time though.

Miranda being the second favorite companion was very weird. Would have thought that both Liara and Tali are more popular than her.

Garrus being the most popular companion winning was the least surprising thing ever. He's really one of the best characters in video gaming.

Yeah they do get it right on occasion and there's nothing wrong with being inclusive. Gaming isn't just for straight men and everyone should feel welcome. Bioware's issue is that they are mostly shit at it. It's so in your face that sometimes the only thing you know about a character is who/what they want to bang. It's like they write characters based on their sexuality instead of a character that happens to be a certain sexuality. Not that you should bloody care one way or the other when you're fighting off invading armies of demons or shooting stupid aliens in the face, but they chose to go down that road.

Yeah, she should have been first! I'd follow her into any situation, provided she's walking in front and there's no tripping hazards for me. Tali was a creep that should never have been made bangable. That was Bioware pandering to perverts that wanted to stick it in an alien that lore said would get very sick and possibly die if she left her suit. You don't change your lore because some people want to have an imaginary feck with an alien. It's absurd. The romance options eclipsing the games should have been embarrassing instead of embraced.

Liara and Tali were a bit annoying. Not to mention, there's a reason ME2 inspired a '(D)at Ass' meme.

(Used to circumvent forum meme word block)

Downloading the 1.05 patch now for PS4. Just need to find something else to do for about an hour.

The Nomad is so much fun when you get a few upgrades on it.

I liked Liara and Tali. I think I liked all of them, actually, except Kaiden and Ashley.

New vs Old look.

Loved this game. Shame I completed before all the annoying bugs and glitches got patched. Fantastic game, always enjoyable.

There's a huge difference in the eyes. What were they doing in those 5 years of development
Apparently - no QA control.

Also didn't help that they cancelled the multiplayer beta - that would have picked up a few things too.

Pissed off. Started what I now think is an important mission on Havarl, died because I dropped my mouse (ffs ) and didn't pick it up in time, now every time I talk to the questgiver I get stuck in a seemingly infinite loading screen. cnut twat wanker shit feck.

85 hours playthrough. I thought it was excellent. Ran into more than a few bugs but it didn't take away too much from the overall experience. I found it strange how EA let us play the first 10 hours early though, this was definitely the part of the game with the weakest dialogue, wonkiest animations and least inspiring gameplay. The 2nd half picks up greatly. Really liked the new crew, the humour and the satisfying ending. I'm fairly surprised by the level of negativity surrounding it. Yes, it's not perfect and it did need a bit more fine tuning before release, but honestly, I think it's a very solid addition to the mass effect series.

Is Eos meant to be before or after the stage where the game gets better? As I've just completed that mission and I'm struggling to continue with this game
