Mason Mount

Pulisic and Ziyech would be nowhere near our first XI right now.

Their stock is low because they don't fit Tuchel's style so people naturally reach for the 'overrated' line but they've shown how good they can be in the right kind of side. We don't need them anymore but a couple of years ago I think they would've been great for us on the right.

Yeah couple of years ago as we didn't have this Greenwood, we didn't have options like Rashford (this Rashford), Sancho, Ronaldo, Cavani, Bruno.

Now? Chances are very slim.

Well done.

Out of all the stupid takes in this thread including not rating Mount, this one stands out. Congrats.
Thanks for your congratulations. I told what happened with Bruno in el final and what happened with mount in cl final.

I responded to post with Bruno mount nowhere near in my team. That's the stupidity of the post. I will happily accept Bruno proved otherwise with all your new addition including one of the greatest in Ronaldo and win something even a carabao cup.;)

have you ever watched football before? can I say Nicky Butt is better than Lampard because he won more trophies?

Do you really think I am 5 years old? No I won't say butt is greater than lampard and I didn't even say mount greater than Bruno. I will say Bruno is similar to Chelsea version of Mata. He won t bench mount in Chelsea either.

Whenever I watch him Bruno was underwhelming in general play at least Mata was robust in first touch and ball control . Sure he got better output compared to mount but with him you won t win anything and that's my opinion.

With penalty duties will change over I don't think he will repeat last year output as well. You will realise when you fail to jump the final hurdle in winning trophies with him.

Bruno Created most chances in top 5 leagues but "his general play is underwhelming". It's like few copy the content from twitter twat accounts.

That's the only possible explanation for the "he's shit" comments. You can't have seen us over the past couple of seasons and actually think that.
Well the ‘he’s shit’ posts are generally a reaction from England fans in the heat of the moment. He is ludicrously overrated though. Chelsea fans watching him will be watching through a Chelsea lens and think he’s amazing. We all have our biases.

Where do you get that stat? Even if it were true, dig deeper and see a lot of them are from set pieces. That could be why people think his ‘general’ play is underwhelming.

I meant Bruno created most Chances. Somehow people come up with usual bs if he doesn't score or assist when he created most chances in top 5 leagues.

Not sure how people like these are promoted here.

Edit: He isn't. Makes sense.

Yeah and I just have to point out that counting trophies to say who's a better player is very stupid unless Chelsea fans here want to admit that Wes Brown is better than any player in their history

 Now started personal insult. If you believe he will win things for man Utd coming season then fine but I don't think so. Most man Utd fans I knew also think he was underwhelming towards end of last season.

Bruno didn't even bench B.silva for his NT let alone mount from Chelsea.

He’s shit. He couldn’t even bench Pepe. And when Semedo got injured who was it they called for? Not Bruno but Dalot. Says a lot about how shit Bruno is.

Last 3 Champions Leagues were won by highly sophisticated, devastating high pressing schemes

Mount is one of the very best high pressing players in the world

Why is Bruno being discussed in a thread about Mason Mount?

This is madness . Chelsea aren’t really a high press team? 3 at the back means they don’t have to

Someone said Mount was good for Chelsea but underwhelmed at the Euros. Same for Bruno I guess which is why he was brought up.

I see that's a fair comment, I feared it was because someone was comparing their quality or something daft

Since Tuchel came in we've pressed extremely aggressively and effectively - if you look at the structure out of possession usually there is no more than 20-25 yards between the forward and defensive lines. Our wide CBs routinely make defensive actions in midfield - whilst we usually have the spare man in defensive transitions they will always step up to leave us 1v1 at the back so as to pressure the ball.

We're arguably the best counter-pressing side in the world at the moment - it's what overwhelmed Atletico and Real Madrid last year in the CL more than anything.

Mount seems to me to be a very specialist player that needs to be played a certain way to be effective. Chelsea looked half the team without him as he is the one that drops between the lines to give their CM an outball and he also harasses the opposition for 90 minutes and gets through some serious yards.

Not sure he'll ever work for England as we don't have a CM like Jorginho or Kante, whilst the attacking players also play within themselves and try to play hero ball too often.

I think Mount is one of those players who individually is nothing special, but under the right coach and system can be effective. I see him as a Lingard level player and would rather him not be viewed as a guaranteed starter by England. I'm also not a fan of Southgate, but that's beside the point.

I feel that somewhere in the recent past, football has shifted in its view of certain players. Players who were once universally considered to be the 'unsung hero' are now overrated beyond belief. I see Mount as one of those, along with guys like Kante and Firmino in the past. Just a pet peeve of mine.

When have Chelsea looked half the team without him?

These days all you need to do to be highly rated is run around alot. It's absolute madness.

Completely agree. Those players were looked upon fondly, albeit in a slightly condescending way 10-20 years ago. Useful, handy, workhorse types. Never let the manager down. Vital cog in the machine. Now however, they are labelled as world class and nominated for player of the year and ballon d'ors.

England need some players starting who are more direct if they want to play attacking 433.

You rarely watch chelsea matches mate. It's clearly showed up in your posts. So don't worry about mount. If he is not good enough managers will throw him away for better runners. Oh yes Foden,Sancho and grealish wonderful to watch for england again it's against Andorra.

Think he's just suffering from Euros hangover, I'm sure he (and all the other) England players will find their form sooner or later.

To be fair he doesnt really rate Bruno Fernandes so I don't think Mason Mount has much of a chance.

Yeah he's fatigued. It shows in his game, but he showed signs of his old self when he came off the bench against Southampton. I'd hoped he would get the international break to rest further but alas not to be. I'm glad Tuchel has taken his time with him.

I watch almost every Chelsea match. Well, as we've seen Tuchels trust in him has gone down a fair bit this season. He was worse than all those against Hungary so you ain't really saying much with that England comment.

I questioned his quality some time back and all your fellow Chelsea fans could come up with were stats on his 'pressures'. I mean, he's playing the position of a technical leader at Chelsea and England and his biggest quality is 'pressures' so go figure.

So why I said you didn't watch chelsea much mate. He was off form in this season sure but you only seeing him running was comedy gold.

We have seen enough to say he is a very good player. Imagine a 22 year player playing more than some 175 games for past three years will have some impact in his body. So I am not worried about it all. He will need some time to regroup. In fact if Southgate left him on bench for Hungary game too I would be happy. But I don't know how much mins he played though.
