I don’t mean he is a bad player just not what we need at all. not even an upgrade on Eriksen IMO.

Carl Anka on Mount here if anyone is interested on what managers value in him. (Posted as someone who is skeptical myself).
It's all relative to our current budget so it's hard to call, but £60 million seems like a fair chunk of it whilst the takeover is still in progress. £60 million on a player with a year left should be reserved for world class potential talent, nobody else pays close to that on someone that's coming out of a season mixed with bad performances and injuries. If it's in the £30 million region then that means we can still afford a top midfielder potentially, but otherwise the value lies in waiting another year, and using that money to strengthen elsewhere in the squad. There's also the incentive of leaving Chelsea in a role rather than helping their books, to fund the likes of Ugarte or Caicedo. There's a big value to getting him in now and starting the process to bridge the gap between us and City. He alone obviously doesn't do it but he's clearly important to Ten Hag and the system that needs to be implemented in order to play the way we want.
I never understood the deferral idea. "lets wait a year and get Kane for free. Same for Mount". Just get the players you want in now if there is a deal to be done, and then you at least dont need to worry about panic buying 2nd choices if you lose out.
I never rated Mount - but after seeing why fans may not rate him but why managers do - it just makes me respect him as a player especially if someone like Ten Hag is going for him.
Fair play, we as fans know shit all about football because we only know it with our eyes.
Tony looks more like young Eddie than Mount looks like Eminem
Ha! BrilliantMason Mount… M&M…
Kane is quoted at 100M.
I don’t mean he is a bad player just not what we need at all. He is a worse version of Fernandes and not even an upgrade on Eriksen IMO.
Excellent point. We should have backups in place and be prepared to walk away and come back in January. Ideal is to get them both on a free but they'll likely go to the club who was most recently interested in themThis is my point. They’re in identical contract/FFP situations.
€80m for Mount guarantees Kane is worth €120m.
Mount should be going for €50-60m max. Kane should not be going for €100m.
We run the risk of setting an artificial market that only we are competing in.
Why doesn’t contract length factor in here?
One year left usually means the price is cut in half, or close to it.
Here Chelsea is pushing for +80m £ like they still have all the leverage. Same with Kane.
Its not strange, it's quite obvious. He wants an 8, Mount has the profile of an 8How are you saying this so definitively with no ball kicked yet?
The majority of his best football had come playing as an attacking midfielder either centrally or the half spaces between the wings. He also plays as an AM for England.
Saying what EtH sees him as so brazenly without any evidence is strange.
Would be pretty nuts for any club outside the state funded to buy a player for +50m (+200k wages..) and use him as a second string option. Wouldn’t make a world of sense for 24 yo Mount either to move to our benchYou're looking at it all wrong.
When Bruno or Eriksen is out we have to revert to Mctominay and Fred and he's a damn sight better than both of those... We need quality in depth aswell as the first 11.
Nobody is paying 80m for Mount.Imagine us paying €80m for Mount and then trying to negotiate with Levy and get Kane for anything approaching that figure.
Nobody is paying 80m for Mount.
Chavs will be lucky to get more than £45m for Mount so that should be our limit.
Has the comment “If his name was Mountino, everyone would be drooling over this potential transfer” been made yet?

Bit worried. Feels like when the Moyes news broke.
Hopefully it's one of those utterly uninspiring ones that turns out to be great.
Yeah like I have already said there is reservations but not just gonna write him off. I am gonna remain positive that Erik can get that 20/21 form out of him again
Mount is not FDJ or Modric, fair enough. He might develop in that direction. His progressive carry stats are good but he doesn’t have the dynamism of FDJ. His passing is good but he doesn’t have the vision of Modric. He will improve us in terms of possession though and will help us get it from the back to the likes of Bruno and Rashford without giving it away (leave that bit to Bruno, haha). He is tidy in possession but he doesn’t help to dictate the play at all. It just seems strange to me how we were chasing Frankie for so long who fits in that exact mould then we move onto Mount. Maybe the manager sees something completely different now which is understandable , but is Mount that guy who has both character and quality that we desparetly need

Mount is 24 and has high resale value and Kane has close to zero resale value.
If Mount was locked into a long term contract at Chelsea, they wouldn't want to sell him. But if push came to shove and he forced a move, they'd easily demand £75m from a rival in today's market. So £50m is about right in the current circumstances.
Madrid bid £190m for Mbappe when he only had a year left on his deal. Clubs are prepared to pay hefty transfer fees with a year left on a contract because they would end up paying close enough to the same amount in higher wages/agent fees if they got the player on a free transfer.
When did he say this?Didn’t EtH say something like there is no value in the premier league? I guess the only pros are Mount has substantial league and top club experience. He’s better than McFred for sure but we can use that money better elsewhere if he really wants Kane as well.

The Scholes type who conducts the whole match from the centre of the pitch is, I’m sure you’ll agree, incredibly rare. If we can / could get someone like that, great, but I don’t see many out there.
