Has the comment “If his name was Mountino, everyone would be drooling over this potential transfer” been made yet?

Wind your neck in mate or take a breather.

Bringing in Weghorst and wanting Arnautavic are both very concerning - pointing this out isn’t ‘abusing’ Ten Hag or ‘trolling’. It’s expressing care at what’s best for Utd.

I also added that Mount may well end up a good signing. But it’s for sure an eyebrow raiser given the context of what the squad blatantly needs.

Achieving 3rd and winning the League Cup doesn’t make ETH some kind of infallible Demi God to anyone other than the thickest of cnuts.

He will make mistakes and it’s fine to point them out. Fergie signed Bepe FFS.

Why don't you take a breather and actually look at the big picture? I'm sure EtH would have loved to sign someone better than Arnautovic or Weghorst, but he was given a budget and had to work within that. His job is to put a team together and then get it to win as many games as possible. He probably worries a bit less about your sensibilities.

We can all see what the squad blatantly needs, mate, but this isn't Football Manager. We don't know what's going on behind the scenes, what conversations are taking place. The player you think might fit the team perfectly might be a complete non-starter. Besides, a majority of fans thought Carrick was going to be an expensive failure, but he turned out to be a very astute signing.

I don't think he's some kind of demi-god and he'll obviously make mistakes, especially in hindsight, but I trust him to make those decisions and get them right more often than a thick cnut on the internet, like you.

Would seem to indicate the disruption predicted by the sale is not happening and the club are doing business as normal, even if the normal turns out to be the Glazers with a loan or the Qatari ATM.

Why?

I thought going and spending money so early and quickly felt like we might have a new owner set up more than it looks to be.

We would spend money regardless. Even if the Glazers are staying they'd let the club spend its money. Conversely, It doesn't affect the sale price of the club if we spend money.

I don't think it indicates a thing other than Ten Hag has a plan in place.

He's not a bad player to buy for about 40 million. But we obviously will need to pay twice that. I hope we have our smart hats on for this.

If going ahead with this transfer means less money for a world class striker, I'd rather not do it.

International form is irrelevant. Look at Pogba.
Sorry, but I dont follow this logic. Its a game of football, albeit an International game and generally the level of International football is below the level of a Premier League game. So going by this blunt assumption, Mason Mount for England should be a superhuman football player if we are comparing to Pogba.

Arguably it could be more down to how Southgate asks him to play, just so frustrating as a supporter, screaming at the screen for Mount to release the ball, forward and faster to players in space ....
Not far off, but I'd go even lower than that.

I'm not the biggest fan but think he'd be an improvement on some players. Saying that, if I were to value him with my vast football knowledge, I'd have him down as a £40-£50m player at the max - and that's with him on a contract with a number of years left.

£20-£30m with one year left would be fair or I'd just ask him to sit tight and sign on a free in a year.

Same for Kane and £100m with 1 year left for that matter. Too overpriced for a soon to be 30 year old with dodgy ankles
Well hopefully, if we do move for him, those making the purse decisions will see sense. I think 20-30 mill is a little low due to "British Player Tax" but we agree on the main thing, he should not be going for big money due to the length left on his contract. Im wondering where this would leave Sabitzer, unfortunate to get injured when he may have shown more worth in his time in a Utd shirt

You seem irate mate, and are now chucking around personal insults.

I’m genuinely not really sure what you’re raging about.

Many people are questioning this transfer, no one has insulted or ‘abused’ ETH as you bizarrely claimed.

Go and have a cuppa and a biscuit or something before you end up in trouble.

Assuming Ten Hag is sticking with his current system I'd say the right hand side of the three behind the striker.

The main worry with Mount right now is is his form of the last 18 months a bad run or early burnout like Rooney suffered? It's that slight doubt in my mind that makes me less gutted than I usually would be here.

One way or another one of our clubs are going to look silly in a year or twos time.
Rooney started to drop off when he was 27-28. Mount is too young for that sort of a drop off.

I feel a bit better to see a Chelsea fan being slightly gutted to see the back of him if it's anything.

If not a 10. But Mount as a nr.8 in a 433 might suit.

But like i have said. Mount is not a player to buy to play the nr.8 in a 4231 formation.

A nr.8 beside Casemiro in a 4231. Require really high level of set the tempo of the build up. Really high basic ball skills or a box to box nr.8 like Jude Bellingham. Who Mount is not that level.

But Mount finish and scoring ability and end and final third ability. Is there where Mount has his skills.

Ten Hag want more sharp, clinical and ruthless from his. Special attacking players. It is the biggest reason why Ten Hag want Mount.
Mount has a high level of a potential goalscorer. Agree United need cm attacking player who has high "potential goalscorer " ability. Player with the end product.

And if Mount will use as a nr.8 most of the time. I think Bruno has to drop back as a nr.8 too

Like this: Eriksen/Bruno - Casemiro - Mount

Playing with high press then Bruno and Mount can work really good. But to build up. Example like Frenkie De Jong, Iniesta or Kevin De Bruyne. Bruno, Eriksen and Mount is nowwhere that top level.

I can set up this comparison. With 2 main ability of a creative and offensive cm player, a nr.8.

+ First build up abilty from the deep. From your team area:

Frenkie De Jong & Orkun Kokcu & Kenneth Taylor & Rabiot > Mason Mount. But...

+ As a nr.8 with scoring and finishing skill ability:

Frenkie De Jong & Orkun Kokcu & Kenneth Taylor & Rabiot < Mason Mount. But...

Like i have said earlier.

He is similar to Frank Lampard in scoring and finishing ability

Paul Scholes < Lampard > Gerrard. With finishing and scoring skills. Lampard is better than Scholes and Gerrard.

But in the build up playing. Scholes > Lamaprd < Gerrard.

Why i would set up. Beckham - Gerrard - Scholes - LW + Lampard + CF

But sometime the current England head coach bench Scholes for Lampard in that nr.8 role. Reason why England didn't get the max out of Scholes for England than United.

Same with Mason Mount. I will not use him as the player like Frenkie De Jong or Iniesta. That kind of nr.8. Top level nr.8

De Bruyne - Busquets - Iniesta. Then you can see the top level of 433 with 2 nr.8.

But Mason is still young. With his finish, sharp and scoring ability and under the development of Ten Hag. It can works out in the future for United.

Every team knows we're mugs. Some of the prices getting bandied about for players with one year left on their deal are absolutely batshit. Mount wouldn't even worth as much as they're asking if he was tied down to a 5 year deal.

I’d love him at the club, but they can Fcuk all the way off for €80m. He’s an €80m footballer with a three year deal left to run.

Boely feels like a full on ‘Name the biggest number’ kind of twat.

United, Bayern, Arsenal and Liverpool should just all have a chat and agree to not pay more than €50m.

The player is simply not going to move to whoever pays the most. I’m fully behind the signing as I think he’s great. But €80m is insane and nobody else would pay it.

I'm looking forward to this signing because unlike the rest of you lot I know a thing or two about kickball.

Anyone mentioned how Malacia looks like Morgan Freeman?
I know right? Pulp Fiction. Great movie.

The man who brought in, and regularly started Wout Weghorst…

The man who wanted Arnoutavic…

Mount might well be a great signing, but ETH has already made some very questionable transfers and requests.

I think he’s been spot on. Criticising him for an emergency Number 9 signing to enable the shedding of ronaldo feels a little churlish.

All of his signings have been great in my opinion. All have enabled the football he wants to play. All have made us better.

Imagine us paying €80m for Mount and then trying to negotiate with Levy and get Kane for anything approaching that figure.

I think we just put €50m offer (or whatever our first bid was) on the table, let them decide whether to take it or leave it, and wait until end of the window.

Meanwhile we could go get Rabiot for free first, just in case...

It will be exactly as you said, with Bruno slightly deeper, with Mount doing the running in behind.

To me, Bruno's better games this season have come when playing in the slightly deeper role.

That said, I would prefer a more consistent ball playing midfield than Bruno, if he is to play that deeper role.

Don't bring biscuits into this, that's going too far!

I think he’s done a great job this season overall - I also think he deserves criticism for the Weghorst move. The two aren’t mutually exclusive for me.

But it’s for a different thread isn’t it and hopefully is in the past now anyway.

He isn't worth anything close to £85m with multiple years left on his contract, with a single year it would be a ridiculous fee to pay for him.

He's worth £40-50m tops.

If we pay Chelsea anything more than £50m for him then they've basically put their Gimp suit on and greased us up for a good pegging.

£50m top whack, not a penny more.

80m? £40m is stretching it already. Honestly he belongs in the £35m category.

strange strange signing if it goes ahead at quoted figures.
obviously hope it works out but can't help but think it's odd.

Chelsea are in no position to demand such a fee. They have a huge squad and players that want to leave.. anything more then £40-50m would be ridiculous for him.

So fans aren't allowed opinions anymore?
We are but hoping we don’t get a player that the manager and club wants certainly is a choice you’ve made.
It’s not even an opinion, it’s what you want to happen. There’s a difference?

Genuinely staggered that this looks like it's happening. Such an average footballer.

Of course I have a compulsive need to support our existing players so the second we get him, I'll get on side. But seriously...
