Mason Mount | Confirmed

Saw a few articles yesterday that we are preparing a double swoop for Tielemans and Maddison. I rate both of these players higher than Mason Mount.

I think Tielemans on a free transfer is a no-brainer. Maddison is probably Leicester's best player, and a boyhood utd fan, but we are well stocked in the number 10 position, and both wings, so I'm not sure we really need him. He would also cost a lot unless we wait until 2024 when his contract is up.

What do you see in him that we are all missing?
The same thing every manager he's ever had sees, that every pundit who sings his praises sees. He's a good player who has done it at the very highest level of the sport (he was excellent in our Champions League winning campaign).

I know most of Redcafe thinks he's shit but 85% of Redcafe wanted Rashford gone just a few months ago.

I mean you didn't really answer the question. I'm not being smart. I've posted many times here that I don't think I've ever seen him have a good game but i don't watch him every week.

I was genuinely asking what you see in him.

He’s absolutely bang average and I just can’t help but hear Frank Lampard saying ‘Mason Mount’ with his cockney accent every time I see him. No thanks

Please don't make me have to support this fecking twerp. It's bad enough when he plays for England, there again the last few times he's apparently played I've had trouble spotting the twat.

He has no outstanding qualities.
Imagine Bruno without the engine and unreal final ball.

He is a very good player - but I just can't see what role he would play for us.

Not a fan and suspect it’s just media nonsense.

That said I’m fully in the ETH camp…so if he wants him…get him in

This season apart (where he's been shit like every Chelsea player apart from one or two) he provides goals, assists, is a great team player, joined the club when he was 7 and has worked his way to the very top of the game, playing a big part in our recent Champions League win.

I joke about the "85%ers" (fans who are clueless when it come to judging players) but there's a lot of that with Mount. Because he's not always doing stepovers and doesn't have his own brand of underpants, modern football fans think he's shit.

Like I said though, he has been shite this season like every other Chelsea player.

I see "I just don't get it with Mount" posted a lot and to me that says more about the poster than Mount.

I don't think he's top tier but think he'd be a really good signing on a free and surprise a few people.

Would be a smart signing IMO.

Don't really see where he'd fit in here and he's not good enough to justify changing the structure of the team to suit him. Will do well in the right system, I'm sure.

He wouldn't be free though. The Matt Law piece said he would have to agree to a new deal or the club would look to sell him in the summer. His contract runs out in 2024.

Hate that argument. Almost every midfielder provides goals and assists. Does that mean they are all amazing? Unless your numbers are very consistent or your output is crazy ala lampard, that statement means nothing.

At the club since 7, again a nothing statement. So? Where does it prove his quality? Lingard was conceived at carrington. Doesn’t mean anything, does it?

Worked his way to the top - every god damn footballer average or elite work their way to the top, even the shit ones. Does it mean they are all awesome? Again a meaningless statement.

Playing a part in champions league win- few moments or purple patch doesn’t define a players quality. Jose bosingwa also played a huge part in your champions league win. So did Eder for Portugal and so did Origi for liverpool.

Lampards illegitimate son!

Don’t get me wrong Mount is a very useful and effective player but I still categorize him as maybe peak Jesse lingard level.

I was asked why I like the player. These things might be meaningless to you but they're not to me.

Working your way into the first team from the academy at Chelsea is practically unheard of over the past 20 years. I absolutely have more affection for the youth products than those we buy.

Player can be 'not amazing' and still be liked by his coaches and fans.

Hate this argument, like how player should be elite to be loved by fans or the coaches.

Mount is having terrible season but before that he did good job, especially tactically. His work rate, ability to press and tactical discipline was good, that's why with 100s of players in their squad, Tuchel still played him regularly.

He is a good enough player for a team that already have him but not so good for other clubs to spend big money. Easy to see why Chelsea fans love him or at least loved him before this season.

Imagine asking fans to be like Robots and not have any love (or bias) towards the academy player who grew through the ranks at the club. It's not like he was doing a Bogarde, he was on smaller wages and was a regular for first team all the time, worked his socks off too. I remember Chelsea fans posting his pressing numbers, which was very good.

Yeah Tielemans on a free could provide us with another creative midfield option alongside Eriksen

Ahhhh my bad. Even so, Chelsea need to sell players so If he was on the cheap I still think he's surprise a few......... massive upgrade on Weghorst as a number 10 !!!

Seems a bit of an upgraded Lingard, as in he's homegrown, fairly limited but works hard, so you keep him around.
You certainly don't make a move for him if you're a top 4 aspiration club.

Mount would be a smaller Weghorst at number 10. Change my mind.

For the salary he asks from Chelsea , no way we would move for him , especially as a squad option only .

Why is this thread kept alive? Makes me nauseous seeing this thread top of the forum each day.

Why on earth would we sign him? He is just as useless as lingard, and he isn't even an academy player, and he probably wants 150k a week. We should rather give Mejbri or Amad a chance as I assume he would be Fernandes backup if we were to sign him.

And honestly, I wonder if ETH don't rate Sabitzer a lot higher than all three of these guys. Maddison and Mount don't really fit our style and Tielemans just isn't anything special. ETH will want someone who is dynamic, really smart, got a great passing game, etc.

I'd take that, Tielemans should work with a force like Casemiro behind him. Maddison is keeping Rodgers out of further criticism.

The feck is this?!

Who wore it better?

I didn't expect this level of disdain when opening the thread.

I think he's a good player, albeit having a bad season. At the right price, he'd be a good option.
