So we just met in the middle? Chelsea wanted a face to face meeting for that?

the final offer was 50 + 5, now it's 55 + 5 - so nothing to do with the add-ons. Tell me again why tacking on 5 more million after saying "this is our final offer!" makes sense.

if I'm called a bedwetter for a bad deal (or at the very least, a bad negotiation), then so be it.
That's exactly what you are. It's a decent deal for all parties involved, and we get a player who seems to be quite set on joining us.

How creative is he? Is he like Bruno creative wise? I know he’s like Bruno as in a workhorse. Works hard

My unbiased (and relatively uninformed - I’ve not watched him studiously) opinion, is that he’s worth the money or thereabouts.
Will he be a player that slots in and makes a team perform better overall? Well I look forward to finding out as the new season progresses.

What I don’t have to wait to be impressed about was the negotiation process, which I must say was very un-United both pace and price wise. I recon it bodes well for what you can expect from the rest of the window.
Happy days eh?

A player with one year left on his contract, who was fecking shit last season, who is playing for a club where is he massively surplus to requirements, who desperately need to bring funds in and we bend over for them.

Feck the brainless shitheads who signed off on this. This club will never, ever be fixed. In a decade of atrocious transfers this is up there with the absolute worst. Jesus fecking Christ, this has angered me so much.
Hey man relax...........It really aint worth that much anger.

Gives more legs in our midfield, makes a tidy pass and can score goals. What's not to like?

But....but ....but we're United and we don't sign anyone....ever ....

...why are we spending so much on a player that only has one year left on his contract....

....why do we relent and spend more money all the time....

...he's not even that good ....

....do we even need a proven premiership player, a champions league winner and Chelsea's ex player of the season...

Am just getting in there early before the obligatory meltdown of the miserable crew.

What a bunch of absolute fannies, claiming we're buying Chelsea Caicedo.

The Saudis have chucked £16m at them for Mendy and another £17m for Koulibaly, Arsenal chucked £65m for Havertz and City £30m for Kovacic but apparently only our money counts towards that potential signing. fecking bedwetters.

The reactions on here  plus it might make some people shut up about being unable to do business early.

Very intrigued by this signing, I trust Ten Hag's vision so I'm curious to see how Mount will fit in! I'm sure he'll look much better in red than in blue :)

Or able to do business at all. By the look of it United are even negotiating with two different clubs and agents at the same time.

Caicedo/Enzo is such a dominant young core of mids as well
Enzo has to show he can handle English football first though. Man gets bypassed in every game he plays. You can’t be a passenger off the ball, or aren’t able to cover ground, when you want to be competing near the top of the table

He is a good player and I hope he becomes a great servant to this club.

However I can not understand the club briefing earlier how we are not gonna pay the United tax than we proceed to do so. At least act like the big dog pay up and shut up.
We didn't, 5 million add on is something very unrealistic. It is basically 55 mil like before.

Agree with this sentiment

Never been a fan and not convinced how he will work in a deep midfield role but hope he proves me wrong. Let's get it mase

Personally think we've been overcharged slightly too. But he is 24 and Chelsea didn't want to sell him, so they were probably more inclined to hold out vs Kovacic who is 29 and probably on bigger wages than Mount. Also you have to take into account Kovacic probably agreed with Chelsea ages ago to leave for Man City, so it was a much simpler transfer.

Agree though, always wanted Kovacic here and thought we'd go for him.

I rate Kovacic as well, but we already have so many important players in his age bracket that will need replacing in the next few seasons that I think Mount makes more sense in the long run.

Kovacic has also had niggling fitness issues for quite a long time, and we don't have Pep's magic doctor.

the "final" offer was already nuts for a player with one year on his deal, but caving and adding 5 more million really takes the cake. What a clownshow.
Apparently the add ons are really difficult to achieve so Chelsea saves face.

60 Million is a rip off for mount, especially with just one year left in the contract. But happy with the purchase nonetheless.

How the feck have Chelsea made 200m in outgoings already (the Saudi cheating thing obviously helps). We should have been shot of Henderson and McTominay by now.

More Eriksen level. Creative but not top tier creativity. Quality set piece delivery pads his stats a bit

People upset we didn’t squabble over £5m add ons

Carrick’s problem is that he was replacing scholes and he wasn’t scholes, not that he was Carrick
He was replacing Keane, which was the issue for fans rating him.
Or able to do business at all. By the look of it United are even negotiating with two different clubs and agents at the same time.
And doing well at it, by the looks of it.

Yeah, I can't think of another big money transfer of recent years with a similar discourse. Even Maguire/Lukaku wasn't as 'bad' iirc because even if we had doubts at the time, we still understood we were strengthening a really weak area. Whereas with Mount, it seems a like sidestep when we were hoping for a more transformative player after all the progress we've had under ETH this year.
I wonder how many folk thought Martinez, Eriksen and Malacia as a fringe player would be as good as they turned out to be for us. You could add AWB and Rashford to that list as well. Hell, some folk were concerned that Casemiro would be shit from day one because "he can't do anything other than tackle".

But Ten Hag got the best out of them because he knew how to use them. Granted, Antony wasn't great but he had his moments, and his defensive work was handy.

If Ten Hag wanted Mount then I'm sure it was for a reason. It helps that this isn't the end of the window either. This is an early signing, a targeted signing. I'm not saying Mount is going to be world class for us but I'm more positive than negative about his signing and I'm looking forward to the dynamic he'll bring to our team.

We are going nowhere in the coming years without a proper DOF, dumb signing and awful business again.

From the discourse online, Mount has to be up there with most divisive big money signing in a while.

I think it doesn't help that we don't really know how EtH plans to deploy him. If we needed a 10 I would be annoyed at the price but happy at the signing. Right now all I am hoping for is that ETH's plan works out. Wijnaldum was a 10 who klopp used as an 8, you never know.

I initially read it as "obsolete" and was in full agreement.

So some saying they are pleased that after initially offering £40m we got the responded £70m down to potentially £60m, great avoidance of United tax?

Personally think he is a bg upgrade on Eriksen. Eriksen ddnt have the legs when he arrrived here and actually degenerated towards the end of the season. I think his effect due to good technique was overhyped in the first hal of the season, and defensively, he was a liability.....but maybe it is just me not understanding the ETH philosophy, I am not excited about the signing....I still feel that like Eriksen, really he is closer to a number 10 than, certainly a more advanced mdfielder and I think without the ball, though he brings more energy and of curse helps with a co-ordinated high press....I dont see how he helps with our midfield getting over ran as it often did against the better sides last season even when we had Casemeiro.

Not disappointed by the signing, but not highly excited either and for me, its still another deal where we have over paid considerably considering his cotnract situation
