£140M for Mount and Antony is just a terrible piece of business, could and should have got Kane for that and would still have change left over.

You can add the 40m for Onana to that as well but at least Onana has settled into being an average keeper, no longer terrible as he was earlier in the season but nowhere near the world class keeper we were told we were getting.

For the money we spent on those two, Mount and Antony, we could have brought in Kane and still have bought Onana in the event that hatred of De Gea was so great that he had to be gotten rid of. No goodbye, no thank you...just a fukk you, Dave. But since the Glazers have taken over classy moves hasn't been a hallmark of management by United.

I feel really sorry for him.

You're joking, right?

He came here on 250k a week, on the last year of his contract, had the ego to take on the #7 shirt, then has massively under-performed every opportunity he has been given.

You feel sorry for him because "he's one of the Chelsea boys". If this was some random player from South America we bought for 60m, in the last year of his contract, on the back of an abysmal 18 months of performances, would you be feeling sorry for him?

Nothing player. Absolute dross. I hope we feck him off at the earliest opportunity.

a bit too harsh i think. The problem with Mount is signing him for a CM position while he is not one. I do not know what kind of discussion went on during the transfer period. He is not a CM and has not played enough consecutive games to conclude on whether he is a flop or not.

i feel sorry for him from a football perspective. He is a decent player when playing in his favorite position. Money is great, nothing to be sorry about here. I also feel sorry for us as a club not being able to do a better business over the summer.

Why does everyone preface their posts about Mount with "I think he's a really good player, good player" etc. then follow up by saying what they really think about his time at United? It's not a sin to admit that he's not been good since being here, nor that you were underwhelmed with him before.

Prior to him being linked with us, I would have liked to have seen how much of our fanbase thought that Mason Mount was the player to elevate our team or how many people actually rated him.

Yes I feel sorry for him because he’s a Chelsea lad who’s going through a rough time on the pitch. I thought that was obvious. Why would I care about a random South American bought for £60M that I have zero connection with?

He's a Chelsea fan. You really should calm down. The way you're going on about Mount, you'll have a heart attack in a few months.

He’s just a player we didn’t need. Doesn’t offer anything we don’t already have and doesn’t have any outstanding qualities either. Can’t even get a start. Not a player to come off the bench and make a difference either.

Of course Chelsea fans will show more affinity to one of their own players..

Your last ten posts on this forum have all been in this thread over the last several days. And when you are not in here, you are in the Mainoo thread complaining about Mount there. Really think you need to try and move on and put Mr Mount to the back of your mind, this isnt healthy.

Why should I?

This guy epitomises everything wrong with our club and transfer policy since Fergie left. An absolute fraud who we should never have signed. Has came here, on stupid money, wearing our iconic 7, and done absolutely feck all.

In case you missed the memo, this is a message forum. I am entitled to air grievances; much like you and everyone else is.

And right on cue. . . The RedCafe Mason Mount apologist shows up to defend all that is rightful and holy.

You aren't innocent in this - you will have a heart attack trying to defend him constantly, like you do. At least I have substance to my argument (read: he HAS been shit), while you arguments to defend him are based on performances from almost two years ago.

Like he has been for the past 18 months?

A good portion of United fans didn't want your Chelsea cast-offs, for the reasons we are seeing right in-front of our eyes.

The part below genuinely made me laugh. Thanks! By the way, what do you think of Antony, Maguire and Onana transfers?

Wank also.

But in defense of those transfers, they were for positions we needed at the time. I could see the reasoning behind those transfers - as they were half-decent prior to their transfer, filled a position that needed filling, and just became shit at United. Much like everyone else we've bought in the past 10 years.

Do we need a weird and fake confusion/criticism every time he doesn't start? It's simple. Ten Hag has seen he can't work in the same midfield as Bruno with what we have available. Eriksen provides deep passing and control. His original plan is Shaw and Martinez doing a lot of that, giving space for Mount to push higher and press, while Casemiro sits. We don't have Casemiro, Shaw or Martinez. So that plan doesn't work. Without them, Mount is nothing more than a 10, so it's him or Bruno. It's not a good signing of course, but it's a very obvious reason why he isn't playing and it won't change til January.

Imagine chasing a priority signing over the summer, spending big money on him, calling him the 'complete' midfielder and then not playing him all season because he doesn't fit? Shite management at it's finest.

Imagine calling under 10 games "all season". Counting only when he was fit and available of course.

I have them the benefit of the doubt that there was a plan for him in the summer but it's clear there wasn't. Scandalous signing.

The poster said he won't play until January at least, and that's apparently only if we have a completely fit defence. When your marquee signing doesn't play, it's a big deal no matter how many games it's 'only' been.

Oh of course it's a dumb signing all things considered. I like him as a player and I get the intention. Intention is in build up to have him push up next to Bruno, while Shaw, Martinez and Casemiro handled the build up, Dalot/AWB stayed wide and Varane was just the RCB. Tons of those are out injured but the role of deep build up then is only able to be handled by Eriksen, so the system drastically changes and reduces Mount to simply #10 competition.

Now, whether that was an entirely predictable situation is a different matter... But that's the tactical reasoning which I get. IMO he should've just aimed to built a 4-2-3-1 anyway with a deep build up guy in midfield next to Case which would help dominate games, sign mount on a free in a year if you want to cover Bruno or have that versatile option.

It's a big deal only for drama Andys. Other people look at context.

There was, I wrote it above. Shaw/Martinez being out mainly hurt that, but also Casemiro being out/declined. We can't do a system with one 6 and two 8/10's without Shaw and Martinez, and especially not without a world class 6.

What's the context then? Because most people see a bunch of money being spent on a player that isn't good enough and doesn't fit in the team when we could have improved other areas of the team instead that badly need it, and it would appear that the managers actions back up that point, but yeah sure, drama or something. I guess there's some solid context in there you can cling all your hope to maybe?

If a plan relies on a perfect scenario otherwise it's scrapped then it's not a good plan.

Of course not a great plan (and IMO not the right direction), especially when he was available on a free in a year. I like him as a player though. But yeah fit is a weird hybrid role which you really need the rear situation to be settled, which last season it was (minus goalkeeper), but this season is not.

I think he's a good player. It just never made sense to me unless they'd seen something as a direct Eriksen replacement.

The £65m on him and Amrabat could have been spent so much more wisely.

As ever, spending money wisely just isn't a thing we do sadly... Hopefully that changes with Ratcliffe and Mitchell if they come. Todibo, Andre and Taremi coming in for reasonable money while we get rid of Martial, Varane, Maguire, Amrabat and possibly Casemiro or McTominay would be a good start imo. Need to clean up the wage structure and I think we will given the players that we've been benching or rumored to want to sell, but unfortunately Mount sticks out like a sore thumb going forward. On big money, new signing so can't get rid, but is firmly behind Bruno in the 1 realistic role he'd play.
