Mason Greenwood

This is the thing. He's such a great talent that he should be playing real matches but I'm always scared of loaning players. These clubs do not think twice about mismanaging loan players.

Yeah I definitely don't wanna see him loaned out only for the loan club's manager to get sacked a month later and the new one decide he doesn't fancy him. Chong I think would benefit from a loan more than Greenwood, the latter looks to special to risk something like that happening.

Is there such a thing as being naturally two-footed? I didn't think so but seeing this lad play makes me wonder

I agree that superior talent sometimes imply that a kid can play against men. Greenwood might be one of those cases. But I do not think a kid will take damage playing against other kids. If he was fully grown it would be a bit different. Rooney was a man at 17. Greenwood is clearly not.

No way will Greenwood be loaned out he's very highly thought of so I can't see the club jeopardizing his potential with a loan which might do more harm than good.

Players with the talent of Mason should not be loaned imo. It's very very difficult finding the correct club to loan your talent too and thus the majority of them are failures.

Loan him to Molde in Molde as a replacement for the Haland young lad? Anyone?

How long before it's Rash and Greenwood tearing people up?

Really hope the kid can learn from how Rashford has settled in. Would be incredible to have yet another academy lad lighting up the pitch.

What if we see another tactical cycle in football and 442 comes back to fashion, and in 5 years' time we're playing him and Rashford up top?

One thing worries me about our youngsters, Mason included, they're all fecking skinny.

I was watching some RM and PSG youth teams and their players look better built.

For all his flaws, Moyes did point that out when he took the job. The physical aspect at youth levels has been slightly neglected.

I've realised what it is that reminds everyone of RVP, he's got the same bandy legs. They look slightly curved outwards. Can anyone else see it? If you watch the latest highlights video which shows him up close you might notice it. Some aspects of his playing style are similar too though.

I always wondered if you're more liable to pick up injuries of you have legs like this, particularly to the knees.

EDIT: Just checked and RVP confirms he had it. So not just my imagination

Sounds legit

When he first joined Feyenoord, Van Persie’s mother issued him with a note, passed on in turn to Arsene Wenger, stating that he had ‘delicate bones, delicate ligaments, delicate hamstrings and especially, delicate nerves – he is my delicate little fairy artist boy’.

 feck. Should have read the full article.

Like a two footed RVP with more pace. RVP's right foot isn't bad as well.
I miss that man.

Nope, you only achieve that with hundred hours of training. Perfecting it.

If this kid fulfills his potential here it will effectively be the end of Lukaku which would be a very good situation for us. The sum splashed on Rom would not be that big of a deal if we upgrade on him from our own academy.

Honestly that level is probably beneath him tbh. It would be much more beneficial to have him in and around the first team.

Yes, I remember. Maybe we're cautious with young players. If they bulk up early it increases the risk of injury. I think we're trying to let them finish their growth spurs. Anyway it seems a bit of an issue for me.
If Mason would be a bit better built I think he'd be able to step up to the 1st team quicker. Same goes for Chong and Gomes.

This is what fecking wrong with modern football. Greenwood is a first year U18 and people are bloody talking about loaning him out.

That could be a function of age. At that age using so much energy playing football all the time you're bound to be skinny!

Im getting tired of waiting for his senior debut. The lad is a stand out in the academy and deserves a chance like Gomes and Ching have had recently

Lukkaku is poor at the moment and Mata is not an attacking wide player, so there is a spot on the bench for Greenwood to get a chance. If he does not perform then fine (but we won't know he is not ready until he gets a game), send him back to the reserves. But in the spirit of 'everyone deserves a chance', I'm scratching my head as to why he has not been given his.

Can definitely see the RVP likeness, I also see shades of Best in his movement. Exciting prospect for sure. I never saw much of Rashford at that level, how did he appear in comparison?

Because the entire coaching staff who are professionals watch him every single day and are better positioned to identify when is the best time to promote him.

Then of course you have the opinion of a bunch of people on social media who aren't professionals and don't see him everyday who think they know better.

Work that one out!

Hear hear.

This is a talent we're not going to throw caution to the wind with, he'll he gradually installed in the first team set up, when he's ready. We can't rush this one or make any hasty decisions with him. The same goes with Chong and Gomes.

If he doesn't get first team action this season it'll be nothing to do with him being ready or not and everything to do with the manager preferring to give those games to Lukaku and Sanchez.

More worrying is that if he isn't given that chance this season no doubt the new manager will come in and stick to the seniors in their first season.

He's just 17 and you're just already tired of waiting for him to get his chance? Christ.

Great prospect but let's manage his career appropriately
