Im so excited for him to come back. So many people here are playing moral judges, but before being moral judges, one must first possess the ability to give people the benefit of the doubt. Especially when he hasn't been convicted of anything illegal. Luckily, you have no influence on the decision.

There is no need for doubt. We know exactly what sort of unrepentant scumbag he is.

Because I don't think what will happen? I am not saying Greenwood won't come back, I'm saying that your reasoning for how they may justify it makes no sense.
So abandoning someone and not giving them a second chance does make sense to you?

C'mon now mate this is very very different, you can't compare what MG did to those very minor things. This is a whole different level.
I am just interested in what the Manchester United fan base think about it as that is what he will be playing in front of and will be a big factor in the decision that INEOS make and this site obviously has a big following.

Or was two years ago. Who knows, people sometimes change, if not rapidly, at least with age.

Are you concussed? You originally said this:
And the flip side of that is that they will not want to be seen as abondoning a young man that the club has had from an early age and will not give a chance for him to redeem himself and surely a poll would reflect that.
I said that if we do bring him back (really hope we don't) the idea that it would be affected by INEOS not wanting to be seen to "abandon" a former youth team player is ludicrous.

I'm honestly not sure what you're trying to argue at this point. To answer your unrelated question, though, in this instance, yes, not giving him a second chance at United makes perfect sense to me. I wish he didn't have a second chance elsewhere as well, but we are where we are.

Actually fan outrage had a massive influence on the decision.

I know what I heard. I know what he is

I am not arguing anything mate, I simply gave you a point of view which you failed to understand.

Greenwood has the same number of Goals and Assists as Vinicius Jnr, playing for Getafe. 11
Factoring in that Greenwood has just come back from missing nearly two years and is playing in a terrible team makes it even more impressive.

He's also created more chances in general, so he's not as greedy as he was for us. Vinicius has more dribbles but Greenwood is still in the top 10 in the league. It was no exaggeration when people were putting Mason in all these most talented youngster lists with Vinicius, Haaland, etc, which is why some of us think we'll get more than what others thinks despite the baggage.
You're probably not too far off the mark here.
Sir Jim probably knows he's our most talented player. We have a potential world class player on our hands and that will always be factored in alongside what he learns from speaking to him personally. It's also why the La Liga president is hyping him up. He wants the most talented players in his league.

I don't know if it's legit but apparently he requested the stuff with Bellingham be dropped.

I just think SJR is more likely to view the issue from a business and football perspective, first and foremost. If the player is doing moderately well after 18 months out of football and wants to return then he will bring him back, which will require a proper strategy and plan. If the player wants to stay in Spain or go elsewhere in Europe then I’m sure SJR will accommodate that as well. A lot will depend on Greenwood and his family’s direct interactions with SJR imo.

Or was two years ago. Who knows, people sometimes change, if not rapidly, at least with age.

Those who don't even admit they have done anything wrong rarely if ever do. I want this scumbag away from the club based based purely on the recording and pictures.

Please explain what I'm misunderstanding

I don't think you are misunderstanding. Many are simply starting from the viewpoint that they want Greenwood back because he kicks a ball well, and reverse engineering an opinion that facilitates this, to avoid the moral or ethical issues with doing so. Even those who don't have the self-awareness to realise what they are doing. Hidden in amongst that number there will also likely be the odd genuine woman hating (attempted) rape/DV apologist, but I hope not.

My brother in Christ. I don’t care if the poster called Mason a rapist or his neighbors grandma. I took umbrage to the poster referring to him as a thug which today is just a nominally polite way of using the N-word. It’s a racially charged word, no two ways about it. Whether it was toward Mason or any other person of color, my reaction would be the same. So if you want to jump on me for calling that out then by all means, but it doesn’t reflect well on you. Just goes to show what a complete circle jerk this thread has become.
What the actual feck?:wenger:

The girl’s family and the girl herself don’t seem to take this matter seriously and they are happily to forgive Greenwood. Why should I take this matter seriously if the victim doesn’t care and now living in a house with Greenwood?

I don’t care and I don’t have issue whether he’s going to be part of the squad again or sell him. As long as we don’t do loan again because it’s not benefit us for our FFP if we want to improve our squad.

Well, he's still with the girl, so I'm pretty sure he admitted he did something wrong.

Negligence? Huh?

I think many people just think that the club statement is PR doublespeak for "he wasn't convicted of the crime he was charged with".

You’ve got to let this go. The club expressly said that they had concluded he didn’t commit the offences, not that he was not convicted. It’s fine if you disagree with that finding, but don’t pretend it’s anything other than a very clear “single speak” statement that he’s innocent.

I don't take an enormous moral interest in his situation (I think many players/famous people do probably worse and it never gets to the public in the way that what he did became famous) but he absolutely did it.. the audio is a slam dunk. There's no point denying that. For that reason alone and the circus bringing him back would bring I hope we just sell him in the summer and never have to hear about him ever again.

Such naivety is almost endearing. Almost. Not really

And people being willing to let morality and ethical behaviour go is exactly the problem.

Are you? Why? I'd guess you have no idea that people return to (alleged) abusers without an apology all the time.

Well taken goal. He's having a good season.

Would immediately improve our team if he was brought back.

Haha how dedicate is not the X:er, " Mason Greenwood , what a goal. I will sacrifice my l!fe to have him back at Manchester United. He is the redemption. Mason Greenwood is better than Jude Bellingham. I have seen the light" - has to be the quote of the year.

Anyway wow what a goal, world class - his pace, dribbling, balance, left foot and playing as a RW producing better numbers then our attackers combine so far. And that is playing for weak team to be honest, focusing on keep it 0--0 and hoping to get 2-3 decent chances to score. He would be at the top in all stats if he was playing for Real Madrid or even Barcelona.

If we sell, we lose out on of the best u23 players in the world with potential being without limits. A complet player that really has it all and is ready to be a key player for any team. We will also lose out on 50-60% of his value, we can as it seems right now get 40m euro, but if players like Joao Neves, Antonio Silva are worth 110-120m euro, then so is Mason - although we are in a situation that we will lose no matter what we do.

Either we choice Mason as a player or get rid of Mason as a person.

He was so talented.. obviously he wont play for us again.. hope we get a good fee so we can at least try to get a good replacement.. just keep Ten Hag away from the transfer talk.

Seems to be slowly getting back up to speed. Granted, it's La Liga, but then again he is playing at Getafe. Garnacho - Hojlund - Greenwood would be a good lineup to have. Lots of power, speed, and technique. Maybe bring Kvarastkhelia or Nico Williams, if the price is right. Would be fantastic! Failing that, sell him for a good fee and bring a proper RW.

I do think he's back to where he was prior to the hiatus, which is impressive. Still has his flaws, which we knew about already, but this is very positive when it comes to securing a good fee in the summer.

...despite the baggage....but apparently he requested the stuff with Bellingham be dropped.

One does wonder why Greenwood would like been branded a rapist being quickly forgotten about, rather than thoroughly disproven.

Either we choice Mason as a player or get rid of Mason as a person.

The framing of this as a battle between 'football reasons' versus 'moral reasons' is a dangerous, albeit useful, narrative.

The reality is rehiring mason greenwood tells our staff as long as results are okay, they're justified in behaving however they like.

Consistent performance has been a serious problem at United since Ferguson retired. Players playing the odd good game or being rewarded with contracts for a month or two's quality, only for their form to dip whenever the pressure tells.

It's fair to claim the last problem United need, especially with young players, is these type of problems recurring.

That's exactly what I think as well. It's pretty dispiriting to see the sort of mental gymnastics people are willing to indulge in to excuse what he pretty clearly did.

Not too mention seeing new posters pop up with unrepentant insanity like this:

You show no respect to treat different opinion. I expect more from older poster.

They should remake the film 12 Angry Men. But instead of a court jury, the moralists should be 12 Angry posters on the Caf arguing of the MG case. "12 Angry Caftards"

I'm sorry I don't live up to your expectations but then your take on the situation seems to be entirely based on the fact that Greenwood is now back with the woman he allegedly beat. It's been noted again and again that this is not uncommon in domestic violence cases and doesn't make the crimes committed any less serious or any less worthy of punishment. Without meaning to be rude, I honestly don't think the opinion that 'it's all ok because she's back with him, so we should just move on' deserves any respect.

I never express it as okay or not okay. I just don’t really care because this circumstance is not normal. In normal circumstances, Greenwood and his girlfriend shouldn’t be together and living together again if his girlfriend is unhappy. But the reality is it’s the opposite of normal circumstances. Rather than wasting our time acting like we know everything what is right and what is wrong, let the club under Sir Jim to make the decision. And that’s where my stand is.

I’m afraid based on your lack of respect calling my post as unrepentant insanity, I think you will only accept one choice. While if the club or Sir Jim somehow making the other choice even if they state the reasons are, you will go berserk and call it as repentant insanity no matter what.
