Appreciate what you’re saying but I slightly disagree.

with mason, besides the aches and pains of going through the works to get his fitness back there won’t be the proper aches / painkillers needed to be taken like shaw had to do and the mental barrier of going into the tackle again. I think his talent is natural an L’s his finishing will come back very quickly

if anything, he should be fully taking in how lucky he is to be given this second chance and how close it was to be taken away and come out all guns blaring

I think for him, it’s going to be the mental barrier of having to travel to stadiums and take abuse that will make or break him.
I'm pretty sure he will regain fitness and his ability is a natural thing that you don't really lose, whether he can overcome the mental side is a different kettle of fish, nobody can tell how that go until it actually happens, and it will happen

He can play on either wing as well as up front - wonderful option to have during the run in (if he can mentally deal with the first few months).

Tbf I'd imagine outside of a kit he's always looked like a stick figure.
Yeah most young players look so in normal clothes. Except Rooney. Professional footballers are actually quite thin. Same with the marathon runner. Guess running a lot does that to your body.

I'd love to see him go on Loan. The Atalanta rumored move would be a great thing for him.

Keeps him out of the media spotlight and let's his play do that talking for him. I'd be afraid what the media would do to the poor kid if he came back and played for United this season.

I'm really really curious how the club is going to handle this going forward. If he hadn't shown more talent than arguably any of his generational peers in our club we probably would have shipped him out a long time ago. I truly thought he would fill in the void RvP left behind. That quick trigger/explosive shot from any angle was truly a sight to behold.

Ronaldo played twice & nothing happened. He will return.

Whoever wrote that should know it's absolute Bullshit. You can't ignore the elephant int the room - you can't speak about anyone's future in football before he comes out to the media himself and clarifies everything that's been going on around him.

Agreed - and given his past record of not being the brightest spark I do have concerns.

hopefully during his time off he’s improved in that area with the help of therapy and he’s going to turn into the player we hoped he would do.

his level of ability, like you said, will be hard to lose. Might be a bit rusty but that will go quickly

I think the club has already decided TBH, they just haven't figured out how to announce it

I think they want a loan move to see if he can reach the level of football required to play for United, and if not then sell him

Yeah I agree with everyone else who says the same thing: a loan move is clearly the best move. Imagine we d get rid of him and he returns to former form or better, we would look like proper mugs regardless of the situation outside the pitch. At minimum we should get money out of being able to sell later if he doesn't return to play for United.

Imo the most possible outcome is we'll sell him. That way we'd still get some from his value without suffering any damage commercially or to our reputation.

Imo the only scenario where he'd return is our new #9 flop badly and it's impossible or too expensive to replace him.

Most gifted prospect to come out of our academy since 92 by a distance in my opinion. If he's brought back, his career will live or die with his ability to handle the abuse he'll take during away matches.

Loan makes a lot of sense. Needs to get back in shape, no sense adding that to the pressure here. Let him hopefully regain his ability, hopefully keep working on himself, and then if he shows that he's ready then bring him back

His current value is pretty negligible TBH, that's what the loan move is for, the problem then is if he actually does well what do they do?

Commercially to the club I don't think it matters, they're not going to lose major deals because of one player, as for reputation I think that ship has long since sailed

Play him, we've no strikers and other teams have had guilty players playing for them that have done worse so I don't know why United have to be the team that holds the standard for morality.

Also same thing when it comes to ffp, every other team cheats around it yet we hamstring ourselves all them time.

When it comes to it in football no one cares when trophies or success are involved, not that I agree with it, mind you.

Another point that this has made me think of. Are we overestimating the amount of abuse he would face, and the uproar from sponsors and such if the club were to bring him back? There seem to be loads of players around with cases hanging over their heads that don't seem to have been an issue. Similarly, were there ever any issues with fans and sponsors after Suarez or Terry had their incidents?

For a club that relies so much on marketing and PR and optics as United, I was quite surprised that it seems like the club are considering keeping him around, which has made me wonder if they think it will not be as impactful in that regard as we think it might be?

Am i the only one that is not that impressed by him? Based just on football.

He started good, but in the end i felt he kinda lost hes shot. I felt so many attacks stopped on him looking for that shot. I also remeber players around him beeing frustrated.

I started to belive in him. But in the end a kinda frustrating player for me.

Came across a highlights vid of him on YouTube earlier. Incredible striker of the ball for his age.

I'm sure everyone celebrates Benzema and Ribery still even after their case.

He played exactly as you'd expect a young player to play, inconsistently

Yes, he got really selfish from what I remember.

Based purely on football. He was a top prospect in world football. He’s still only 21 so just goes to show how young he was when he was lighting it up.

His form did drop and we now kind of know why that was. It remains to be seen if he can rescue his career.

Business wise I’d probably loan him for a year and then sell him if I were you. Means if the loan goes well you can get a decent fee for him and if it goes badly then feck it anyway.

He's got that moment of surprise in him but once he it stopped going in for him, he looked quite underwhelming, especially in his general play - somewhat expected for a young player. Nevertheless disappointing off the ball effort and general application would just make him a Martial level player eventually. Will end up probably like Januzaj in a midtable club in Italy/Spain after the 15 month without football if something form his little desire is left..

Loaning him only makes sense if there's literally no buyers this summer.

We just have to accept we're going to have to accept a fee lower than his value before the incident.

If we're loaning him to then bring him back and integrate him back into the team, I don't see the point. Just get him back in the team now, no point waiting 12 months for him to have an impact for us.

But he should be sold this summer if possible. If not possible, loan and then sell.

He's a +100m talent mate. If he shines in his loan I bet we'd sell him for at least 50m. And I also bet he'd score shitload there as well.

There was talks about our marketing department was against him returning in the process we reportedly undergo to decide if we'd bring him back so there must be something negative there I think.

Anyway yeah you got a point here. I don't even know what is the current state of our reputation now anymore.

His breakout season was very good. 1 goal every 3 games is a fantastic return for an 18 year old in his debut season. Things did tail off a bit after that though. His goalscoring slowed down and his decision-making didn't seem to really improve. Overall a very promising player but not the "generational talent" some here make him out to be.
