Martinez Injury | Out for the season with metatarsal fracture

Not sure if they're reliable but metatarsal was my first thought (not a doctor though) from the way he grabbed at his foot

How long are we looking at if it is? Guessing out for the season?

Presumably we won't know straight away, as there will be too much swelling to properly scan/ x-ray so will have to wait a couple of days

Most of metatarsal fractures on football players are avulsion fractures that happen when a player rolls his ankle so considering what we've seen, it would be surprising. Then again though, it's impossible to know, we'll have to be patient and wait an extra day.

The full recovery of a metatarsal fractures usually goes from 6 weeks to 4-5 months if he needs surgery.

You would assume he is out for the season but sounds like it may not be something long-term at least.

Some saying tendon some saying metetarsal. If it’s tendinitis that’s not too bad. A few weeks hopefully.

If he’s broken a bone in his foot then I guess he’s wearing one of those protective boots when he leaves the ground. Same with ancle ligaments I guess. A ruptured Achilles and he’s straight off to hospital. Speculation speculation speculation we know ape shit.

Now count how many games the teams ahead of us in the league have had their best XI available.
Take Arsenal for example take out the same calibre of players we have lost for periods from their team

Am talking Saka, Martinelli, Odegaard, Saliba and Zinchenko.

They would definitely be struggling more than us

Varane was in tears when he got hurt before the World Cup. Hopefully this one also ends up being better than initially feared

I’m tellin ya it’s a calf muscle tear. What are the odds on the type of injury? Anybody know?

Oh no, I can’t bear another game of Malacia.
Was more thinking around the Martinez injury, feels like he could be out for a while and Shaw can play LCB. Varane could be out for a bit too so we may be stuck with Maguire and Lindeloff.

Our build up play will go back to the prehistoric age (pre '22)

I inferred that Shaw would take LCB, meaning Malacia would stay in LB. I can’t handle another game of Malacia.

And with that (And Rashford) our season is over. I expect we will be knocked out by Sevilla and fall out of the top 4

We should do OK against lesser team with current MF and strikers, but I definitely don't fancy going into any Final with Lindelof + Maguire.

Can we just bin the fecking Europa off and focus on the league and FA Cup?

Every single manager we get seems to think we have to play our best players in all competitions. We simply haven't got the squad for it.

Rest every fecker for the Sevilla game, play the tea lady upfront (or Weghorst). Top 4 is in our hands IF we have a fit 11 who aren't shattered from playing Thursday-Sunday every fecking week.

Feck off.

Biggest lesson for ETH this season. There’s a reason why managers usually write off the league cup and europa league, they just aren’t worth the hassle of extra games.

I thought we should’ve binned it against Barca, in hindsight the comeback has only made things worse.

fecking feck this shit. The one player I wanted to stay fit.

Really big blow to the team losing him. Really hope it isn't as serious as initially thought.

It's not a lesson for EtH... We are on course for achieving our league target while still winning the league Cup and going far in the other 2 cups. This is the standard that the squad has to learn to play to, and the standard of squad we have to build to.

Biggest blow from today. Couldn't give two shits about the two own goals, in relative terms.

Disaster vs tough shit, move on.

Thank goodness it's not the Achilles

On another note I've been feeling chronic pain in my upper ankle. Adjacent to my Achilles. What could it be?
Sorry mate, your career is over. You can’t recover from that.

It sounds like he might be in season.

It complicates our transfer-business quite a lot if he's out. Not easy to sell Maguire now. We'll probably have to change our targets. Doom and monger, yes.

Need to get Min-Jae & N'dicka/Bella-Kotchap that is for certain especially with Varane concern

Will have to use this injury as an opportunity to properly take stock of our options and to seek additional investment at CB. Varane needs to be moved on from as unreliable fitness-wise anyway. Good opportunity for Maguire and Lindelöf to be properly assessed by ETH over a period of matches before acting in the transfer market.

They don't need assessing

Yeah the Jesus one never really hurt them, however like you said Saka/Odegaard and they wouldn't be top of this league
