Martinez Injury | Out for the season with metatarsal fracture

That more than less confirms our best 11 won’t play once all year
That is mental, think of the number of games we have played this season to not have them all for even one game?

He won’t play again this season.
Anyone thinking otherwise is clutching

looked bad

Looked bad yes, but your guess is as good or bad as any other one. You have no inside knowledge on this.

I also suspect that his season is over, but it’s just a guess.

With all due respect.

What tendon are we likely to be talking about here then if not the Achilles?
Looked like the deltoid ligament on the inside maybe? Hopefully just a sprain and not a serious one. Could be anything from a couple weeks to months even so.

There’s only, what, a month left in the season? At this stage a fairly minor injury can end someone’s season. I’d be amazed if he’s back before pre-season.

Why do so many turn into medical experts based on very little information?

The rest of the what now?

Peroneal tendon injury (most likely dislocation) wouldn’t be 8 months out.

2-3 months? 6 weeks if he’s very lucky. It’s a bad injury. But back for preseason. Which is the main thing.

My initial post was a worst case scenario projection so I edited it. But if he requires end to end suturing, it's usually 7 to 9 weeks of total immobilization.

Anyway, enough speculations.

Lisandro Martínez is not going to do any more examinations today. Tomorrow he will know what he has. The Achilles tendon was ruled out (good news). He left on crutches. It could be the fifth metatarsal and the outlook is better than expected.

Not sure if they're reliable but metatarsal was my first thought (not a doctor though) from the way he grabbed at his foot

How long are we looking at if it is? Guessing out for the season?

Presumably we won't know straight away, as there will be too much swelling to properly scan/ x-ray so will have to wait a couple of days

Read this thread from the beginning. It was an emotional roller coaster. From him never to play football again or returning in 2024 to Ten Hag saying that he is most probably not available this Sunday..

What's the metatarsal recovery rate like? Surely its not broken or anything, there was no one around him and he only appeared to roll his ankle. Just a sprain?
