Film Martin Scorsese - Marvel movies are 'not cinema'

I just hate what Marvel have done to my boy Spider-Man. I don't know how they went from the great representation of him in the PS1 games, 90s cartoon and Tobey trilogy - pretty much EVERYTHING - to everything they've done in any form of media since. Scandalous.

Into the Spiderverse was an absolute masterpiece

I watched Gangs of New York today. Almost enough to make you side with Marvel tbh.

That's worse than Marvel for me. Uncharted is a mediocre series from a narrative standpoint, which is absolutely fine because you at least get to play through the exciting action moments.

I figure no lessons were learned from the Tomb Raider debacle.

As a genuine Marvel fan having recently been promoted and having followed this thread since its inception....you guys crack me up! Very entertaining thread with some valid points about cinema....and a lot of old men yelling at cloud takes!

Out of interest, how many people in this thread have seen Belfast?

Gentlemen, here are the latest engagement numbers for our experiment regarding the previous generation of conventionally illustrated advertisement. We trust you'll see signs of potential for generational crossover appeal. As for this particular poster for Uncharted, some of you will undoubtedly see this is a reference to the Goonies poster from the year-

 that doesn't even look like Tom Holland

-okay everyone, we'll be pivoting back to unoriginal photoshopped collages. It's quite clearly what the unwashed masses want.

Seemed very patrionising I felt I would look on it as Northern Ireland's version of white privilege.
A fantastic film that anyone who loves film should watch.

Unless the main character who we can see clearly hates the script and is only there for the money develops superpowers, wears a wrestling outfit then goes to the Golden Gate bridge to fight a cgi 100 foot goose I doubt there will be many fans in the Marvel generation

Was more wondering if the marvel are killing cinema brigade would go and spend money to watch it in cinema.

Personally I grew up in the troubles and not really interested in watching a film about them let alone from a Protestant view point without trying to be offensive.

The experiences will be different.

I'm sure I would be likely to watch it of I came across it on TV in the future.
