Even if we did sign him we couldnt bring him in until January so no rush to do this today but would be great if we could sign him

Completely took the piss at times against Portugal's U21 national team today. It's actually insane how good he is at picking the right pass.

He's the very definition of "wonderboy". It's only a matter of time before he plays first team football for one of the best clubs in the world. I just hope he's smart about it. He should go to Netherlands, Germany or Spain first imo.

He was very good in the first half and faded in the second as he was naturally tired. It´s not easy playing against our u21. We have a very good team and most of the players are experienced in top flight football and european competitions. At 15 it´s incredible the impact he has on the norwegian team. I was very uninmpressed when we trashed them 5-1 in the first game. Even if they lost again 2-1, they looked much better now. Got praise from our manager Rui Jorge as well. If he mantains the work ethic and interest for the game, i think he will become a very good player.

Yeah that has done wonders for most of the Norwegians who have been here..

Eikrem wasn´t good enough. King wasn´t good enough. Dæhli did great for us and we wanted him to come back after we granted him to leave. That didn´t happen though. I dont see what we did wrong?

Only pointing out that he could probably do better that going to us... But don´t get me wrong would love to have a talent like him here.

Next week he's set to become the youngest player to ever participate in Euro qualifiers by almost a full year. A remarkable feat made even more remarkable by the fact he was injured for the entire season and then some a couple of years ago.

Who currently holds that record?

Who currently holds that record?

Siggi Jónsson. Icelander who played for Arsenal, Sheff Weds and Barnsley in the 80s/early 90s. Apparently, an exceptional talent who never fulfilled his potential due to injuries.

:nervous:

I don't know if I'm getting wimpy and consevative as I get older, but I'm really scared that the same will happen til Ødegaard.

Can happen to anyone but it was more common 30 years ago because players were more on their own. One of the best players Iceland ever had went through it. He was playing for Milan and inured his knee and Milan didn't want to let him have an operation, that the Inter team doctor wanted to perform to save him. He then bought out his contract to save his career, operation was a success and he went to France.

Regarding Odegaard, that's a record that will be hard to beat. The current record is a testament to that.

Yeah, there's no guarantee that won't happen. I was surprised to learn he has an injury-prone past, I figured it must have been smooth sailing for someone who's so far ahead of schedule. His decision to hold off on specific strength training for another few years until he's done growing seems like a sensible one, unless someone snaps him in half by then. Yet another reason to take a season or two at Ajax before moving to England or Spain.

He should stay away from overly physical leagues. I think Netherlands or Spain would be ideal for him. Consistent first team football is also a must. Being in the reserves for a big team for too long is a waste of time.

I think he should stay put and then move on to Germany when he is ready. Good country to live in and they generally take good care of young players. Culturally more similar than spain for example. Either that or Netherlands, but it doesn't really matter what I think.

As has been pointed out most Norwegians that have been here haven't been good enough. It's hardly the clubs fault. Ole was good enough and look how well the move to United worked out for him. That's the basically the same as saying moving to United hasn't worked out for most Portuguese players.

Updated Ødegaard highlights from Cmore Football. This video is even better than the first one!

Imagine how many more assists he would have if his team-mates weren't so s**t!

I want us to sign him so bad. He have hit the woodwork a lot also. So the 3 goals could have been better also. I remember Ronaldo hitting the woodwork a lot for us.

imagine how many fewer assists (and kneecaps) he might have if say
Nigel-de-Jong-006.jpg
was marking him

would love to see him here at some stage but I think its best for his development he either moves to say holland or portugal for a year or two - or at least is loaned there if we or another top team do buy him

So is he better or that's Belgiums biggest talent in 30 years?

#16, boy knows how to pick a number.

He must get his legs absolutely battered, getting outplayed by a 15 year old is probably hard to take for some.

Tielemans is probably more seasoned - playing in a more competitive league and even competing in the CL, but both have ridiculous amounts of potential that they could fulfill. I'd prefer Tielemans currently, just because he looks like he could become world class playing as a deep lying midfielder, a box-to-box, or a #10.

Why not both! Gaalacticos of the future!

Hope Sammer is already on the case. Some of our players aren't getting any younger.

Poach Draxler and some of the Barcelona talent Josep has honed. We want this one.

I had a dream that I was Man United manager and Odegaard lived with me until he found his own place. He also opened the scoring at Anfield on his debut.

Legend.

Hmm.

Could you talk about this dream in more detail? What was the nature of your relationship with the boy? Would you describe it as ..... intimate?

(Standing in for Pogue here)
