Marquinhos

They still asked to leave, you rarely see players not surplus to requirement pushing for a move.
Only at the bigger clubs, every club not at the top of the food chain see regularly their top players asking to move to bigger ones. Replacing surplus players by fresh ones is good policy and will keep a happy and motivated locker room.

That's true, but PSG are a big club. I just remembered that PSG contracts include good behaviour bonuses though...:D

@FCBarca

More interesting quotes from him today, we should be all over him if not Stones in the Summer;

"Like everyone else, I always want to be a part of the starting line-up," he told JDD.

"But we all must respect the choices of the coach and management.

"I will continue to work to get my place. But it's true there will come a moment where I am older. You cannot just get used to sitting on the bench.

"There are six months left for PSG to win titles. After that, we'll see what happens."

This is the one for me. He has already admitted contact with United last summer and is flattered by our interest. He can't get into the side and when he does he isn't played in his preferred position.
Ridiculous talent. Must have ahead of Stones IMO

With Luiz looking more and more like a good defender for PSG, the likelihood for a Marquinhos move must increase. I'd be very pleased with landing him. Fantastic talent.

It will difficult to acquire him considering that Silva will be on the decline soon and he is effectively 3rd choice. But if Silva is still going strong for a while yet, Marquinhos may consider moving

Another one prick teasing United until he signs a new contract or ends up in Spain

Thiago Silva shows no signs of decline. One cannot say with certainty but it seems likely he will continue at this level for another two years at least.

Is he better than Stones?
He's the creme de la creme of Talent, the only thing that is a genuine negative is his height. I believe he's 5:11? which means his centre back partner would have to be able to cover the deficit or you could end up getting out muscled at set pieces.

So, Him + smalling = fantastic potential partnership.

Him + Blind = probably an absolute disaster, wheras a more gifted athlete like smalling can work with a blind or mascerano at the back.

He's 6'0" (183 cm) but not especially strong physically.

Just like alves and Ramos.... Woodie is getting played as per usual. Neymar is going to play us next. Just throw money at stones and be done with it.

His height disadvantage has always been a real concern for me but one cannot doubt this kid's sheer athleticism. He's quick, dogged and reads the ball well. Of him, Stones and Laporte, he is the best but he still needs an able partner like Smalling who still has some improving to do.

I'd rather Stones be our priority. This is one of the rare occurrences where the English player is just as good as his foreign counterparts and I'm all for keeping a British core if the quality is virtually the same.

That's what Brasilians love to say during renegotiations. PSG cannot be pressured to sell or renegotiate
Maybe he is tired of winning the league every January.

True although I suspect he's tired of drawing a fat salary warming the bench - hoping a fatter check might make his life in Paris a bit more enjoyable from the comfort of the bench

Since he is a nice guy, I will guess that he is just after playing time.

So there are some issues between Marquinhos & Thiago?

No, I don't think so. From what I understand Thiago is more comfortable with Luiz, it's maybe because Luiz is a more physical player when Marquinhos is similar to Thiago.

Would be too logical for Barca to buy him. They're not exactly the sharpest knife in the CB-buying department.

He was pursued by Barcelona, like T.Silva but both just used the club to get a bigger deal with PSG.

Once again from what I heard, Marquinhos didn't use Barca to have a bigger contract, he asked for more game time and at the time he was promised lot of time between RB and CB, but the club bought Luiz and Aurier took the RB position.

Edit: In 2014, I don't think that Barcelona cameback after that.

He played 32 games in his first season
42 last season
19 so far this season
Plus this season he has played more games than aurier, the same as Luiz and has more league games than either... His contract expires 2019 and psg are now largely free of ffp restrictions
Move along nothing to see here

He has not played more than Aurier, he has played 770mns while Aurier played 1440, he has not played more than David Luiz too, he enters at the end of games.

Where have you found that by the way?

15 million that's just feckin laughable.
Unless it's written incredibly badly and we are offering a £15m salary (or signing on fee) on top of presumably an astronomical fee to PSG
Still can't see it happening myself even if we do offer him crazy wages... Why swap living in Paris with a shot of winning the cl for Europa league action in Manchester... Even if he is in any doubt I'm sure Di Maria will advise him against it

As in he has played more games according to wiki anyway...
Either way he ain't leaving for us even if he does go

I never said that he would join us, he wants to join Barcelona. But PSG will make any move really difficult and expensive.
