I am happy about the signing but feel embarrassed about the way we handle the deal. It's mix feeling really.

Yup welcome to United. All those who wonder why we did not activate the clause, we don't know what conditions came with the clause. If there was an obligation to give Everton a cut of the sell-on fee, would that not be a good reason not to activate the clause. Contracts can be complex people. Stop feeling embarrassed for nothing.

Yes. Could be more to it too. A clause would generally be full upfront payment. I don't think it was particularly smart to leave it this late but we don't know all the details yet.

Welcome to the club, mic man! Hope you'll be a success.

And feck off Glazers, Woodward, and anybody associated with these horrendous bastards!

 Well said

Welcome to the club, Mr. Fellaini - hope you kick some ass & have the time of your life doing it - just don't get sent-off all the feckin time though

ANYONE CONNECTED TO THE DAYS EVENTS - APART FROM MOYESY, IS AN UTTER cnut TOO!!

Welcome to Fellaini the colossal feckup this summer isn't his fault.
27.5m is obviously overpriced but I feel he will add to the squad.

Fellaini cons:
2. Question marks over his passing ability and his positional sense.

 He's done pretty well in his first three games this season for Everton playing in a variety of roles.

Think he'll do well for us. Not sure how well though, because I'm sure about how good exactly he is.

Also, we've paid 27.5 million for him, so I hope he's much better than I think and won't merely do "well" for us.

It will be interesting to see where we deploy him? As the deepest midfielder (DM), or alongside Carrick/Cleverley in a CM role.

Alongside one of them. Can't see how we play can play him deepest in a three man midfield on a regular basis. We simply don't have the midfielders for it.

It's his dream club. He always wanted to play for United since he was a child.
Is that actually true? I like him a lot more instantly if that's the case.

Still baffled by the price mind you. For 27.5 million you usually get a top player.

If that's the case then he should have focused more on his technique and less on his physicality. Creativity and technique is usually what big clubs expect from a midfielder expecially when big fees are involved.

Thank god United went shopping to Lidl in terms of managers. If a real top manager was signed (ex Guardiola), Felliani wouldn't be here.

There are some question marks over his passing. So I am not sure he would excel in a midfield two (I mean as a CM). He can be a DM though, with Clevz and Carrick alongside him.

Fellaini: This is my dream

After completing his transfer from Everton, new signing Marouane Fellaini spoke exclusively to MUTV. Here's what the Belgian had to say...
How do you feel now you’re a Manchester United player?
I’m very, very happy. It’s a big moment for me. I waited for a long time, I’ve worked hard for this and I’m very happy to join this big club, this great club. I hope to do everything for this club.
When you knew Manchester United wanted you, did you always want to come here?Of course. It’s the biggest club in the world so of course I wanted to join this club. I tried everything to join the club.
What’s today been like? It went right for the deadline…
It’s been difficult, a very long day. I waited to the end… I know the situation, but this day has been very long.
You’ve played and scored at Old Trafford, but what will it mean to run out with a red shirt on?It’s a big stadium, a big club. I hope I can score a lot of goals for Manchester United.
What do you hope you can achieve as a Manchester United player? When I was young it was a dream to play for Manchester United. Now I’m here so I’ll try to give my best to the club. I want to win trophies. That’s the most important thing.

There ya go. :)

He's pretty happy for someone who was blatantly our plan D.
Not everyone can nonchalantly stroll into a club and be pretty blasé about it all.

feck off you cretin, take your whinging elsewhere.

yes, play alongside with Carrick or

Then I'm not sure why we've signed him apart from big games where we sit deeper.

For a three man midfield to work, we need to have our iniesta in there to provide flair from that position. Arsenal have rosciky and Wilshere. Bayern played thiago and gotze recently. Carrick, Clevelrey and Fellani is pretty average ability on the ball in comparison. It's an option we can use but I don't see this as being the main plan.

I see him starting next to Carrick as a box to box midfielder who has to hassle and Harry off the ball and drive forward on it, with Carrick sitting and holding.

we're in for the best players right?

His passing is fine/good but only if you judge him against someone like Carrick. Its obviously nowhere near the likes of Scholes, Xavi, Fabregas etc. He's not going to be a big creative boost, but he involves himself in good passing moves and with one twos and passing in triangles with 2 other players, he can help us fashion a chance that way. Think of his involvement in the 4th goal against us in "that" game. His movement and passing werent out of this world, but they were good enough to set up a goal

Cleverley will be our Iniesta.

:nervous:

On a serious note, I do think Fellaini and Carrick would work, but it would be similar to how Carrick-Fletcher operated. No creativity in the middle, Just 2 industrious midfielders shielding our defense and providing support to the wingers/forwards.

For me, he'll be perfect for closing play. Much like Fletcher was at his peak in 09. Which will allow Carrick to play his 'interceptor' role a lot more freely. He won't have to divide his defensive duties between closing the player (and in his case standing off him letting him run freely) and making interceptions.

It will also free up Cleverley to be played closer to goal which imo he clearly needs as this deeper role is not really to his suitability at the moment.

I think some of you will be surprised about how good he actually is. He's gotta great touch "for a big man", he's box-to-box & if he control that aggression of his - he'll be a great signin for us.

I aint comparing so stop right there, but Keano was never blessed with the most gifted footballing talents & he was very aggressive - probably more, but my God what a player he was for club & Country. Bloody legend of a player & Captain.

We've been cryin out for an mid-field enforcer for a good while now. We've only got light-weights in the middle of the park - bar Fletch, but we cant rely on Fletch to come back the same player he was nearly 3 years ago or is it 3 or more years ago - feck sake :(

Anyway, great to see he's buzzing like a kid at joining us. That's dying out amongst footballers, most of them couldn't give a shit where they play as long as they make as much money as they can. Must be pretty sweet for him & Bale to play for their dream-teams & earn a nice little crust also - lucky so & so's...

See the video, he can play good passes.

I'm really excited about this, he'll be a great asset in the big away games when we often get overrun and outmuscled in midfield.

Yeah I agree. But it's better than Cleverley looking a bit lost in there.

Btw, I hope he's a first choice central midfielder for us now.

We have enough attacking talent up front and on the wings to offset that. RVP/Rooney/Kagawa/Nani/Valencia/Zaha/Young are all players capable of producing something special, we just needed two midfielders who could secure our back four against counter attackers and we've got the 2nd midfielder, I'm very happy.
