Obviously the guy looked like a donkey in his first year here, but he needs to be given a chance to prove himself under LVG, just like anyone else.

Interesting to see LVG call him a 10 when stating about unbalance in the side. I think if he sees him as a 10, he'll definitely be gone! I'd just rather we start conducting some of this business sooner. Get rid of some of the extras, LVG is obviously assessing.

Saints could do with a few replacements, he obviously did well at Everton who I would say were a similar level, but also a different style.

I really want to see him gone... purely because it would act as 100% confirmation that we a quality replacement lined up. We could hardly go into the season with our current midfield, minus Fellaini! (Could we?:nervous:)

I think Fellaini is better than what he showed last season, but at this point its probably best for all parties that he is moved on. He doesnt look like the type to fit LVGs style and philosophy, and there isnt really much point him sitting around as 4th/5th choice in any role.

Better to just cut our losses.

He was just listing players who could play there. He didn't actually pigeon hole him as just a #10.

Based on the fact that he was no worse than Fletcher, Carrick, or Cleverley last season and they are all getting a chance under LvG.
that's arguable. he was pretty bad in my books and buck stops with the manager anyway

Moving to one side the footballing reasons for selling him, the most significant factor is just how symbolic it will be. It really draws a line under Moyes era.

Strong Managers like to throw their weight around early and MF is easy pickings.

Nobody deserves anything, he is employed to a job that doesn't exist at this club, so he needs to find somewhere else to play.

He seems to have developed a close friendship with Adnan. They post a lot of photos together on social media. I hope he stays, despite what the vast majority of you think. Cleverley didn't impress me against Roma at all. Carrick is injured for the first three months. I think Fellaini would compliment Herrera quite well if he played in a more defensive position. Hopefully he at least gets a chance under LvG anyway.

What games you have see that are indicative that can Fellaini play a DM role for MUFC?!
He cannot tackle and is near immobile. He has no shot and has no real passing range to speak of as well.

one thing is for sure: lvg will make decision on fellaini completely ignoring journos, twatters and caftards opinion. And that s the way it should be

If FSW takes him to Napoli I will immediately start rating him as a great manager! I know this doesn't make sense, but it's true!! Come on you penguin!

Great if this interest from Napoli materialises into a bid. We need to cut our losses on him, wasn't a Utd player in the first place so don't buy this second chance nonsense. Napoli will more than likely want a loan move first with a buy clause though.

I can't believe the number of posters who are supporting Fellaini and insisting he is actually a very good footballer. It's like his family has joined the caf. Fellaini played his best football for Everton in the 10 position. A role in which we have 4 players better than him. He doesn't fit in with any style of football that will be ever played by a United manager not named Moyes. His passing is meh. He is slow. He gets booked in every match for cynical fouls. He is also responsible for the worst ever midfield performance I have ever seen against Bayern Munich. Anyway I think he will be with us for some time. No manager not named Moyes will bid 15m + 100k/wk for him.

People have their opinions and views. That's what a forums about.

Fellaini isn't that bad. Is he on tour with the squad yet? I would have liked to see him eager and join up early to prove a point to the new manager that last year was a blip.

Absolutely pal,

It's hard to believe that the man was even signed in the first place, to say he has a limited skillset is an understatement.. Will never make it here.

What he is good at however is the long ball, a no.10 with crosses bouncing off his head every game. We look to play good football, a game with the ball on the deck not in the air and with the arrival of LvG, there is no future for him here.

Surprised Big Sam wasn't interested, pub team manager with bad footballing philosophy. Fellaini would do well there.

In terms of fee, it's going to be a heavy loss about 15m or so. Would expect around the 12m mark.

It took 5 or 6 years before people would admit that Anderson was a fat waster. They think being loyal to a player makes them a better fan or something, if there's a player stealing a wage at the club I want them out asap.

Fellaini never had the tools to play for a club which aspires to a top four finish, but he's certainly at least a championship caliber midfielder.

I haven't kept up with QPR lately but I could see Fellaini joining Rio there.

Don't hold your breath buddy

Of course Ando got a few "last chance" seasons here. Florentina wouldn't pay what 5m, difficult to move on. He's just collect his wages and then more than likely next season return to Brazil.

Or they just support the team, like a supporter.

Big Sam won't sign him. Westham have Big Sam's lovechild Nolan in Fellaini's best position. There's also footage somewhere of Marouane losing an aerial battle to a minion Philip Lahm.

Had 17 goals and assists during 2012/13 which is only 5 less than Rooney who was feeding balls to RVP. If LVG wants to send the ball to him and get him to bring those around him into play, he'll be a valuable asset.

Do you mean include him in some quick, technical play with Mata, Rooney, Januzaj or lump the ball onto his head/chest and hope he can get away with elbowing the defender to take it down?

I mean the type of performance in the 4-4 draw which basically cost us the league in 2011/12. He's capable of both, but I don't mean for LVG to start him, I mean for him to come off the bench and do something for us. If we keep him or sell him, I'll be indifferent, but if LVG see's something in him, then that's great because we're never going to recoup the £27M we paid for him.

My daughter just texted me that Fellaini "is gone".

Is it truly time to pop open the champagne now?

No thanks. I'd rather stick to Plan A. Can't revert to Moyesball. I saw 3 seasons worth of longballs and crosses last year.

LVG used that tactics with great success against Mexico at the WC. If Plan A has failed for 80 minutes, why not bring Fellaini in for the last 10 and try something different? He could be another tool in the box for LVG - horses for courses and all that...

Agreed. Sometimes, after 80 minutes of futility, you just have to lower your standards and go hoofball.

But if Napoli are willing part with decent cash for Fellaini, then why not?

I wouldn't be against using him as a no.10 - if mata isn't cutting it then he offers something different.
Kagawa is fairly similar and if mata isn't working out you'd expect he wouldn't have much impact.

Just please keep him the hell away from our midfield.
