Not a Utd player. Never will be.
Not a Utd player. Never will be.
A few of us said the same things about Fellaini before he signed. Hope we dont make another similar mistake.
Not a Utd player. Never will be.
There has to be some literary term for this. Technically, he will be a United player if we sign him. But as for his quality and this ideal embodiment of the United player, it's hard for me to make such a decisive statement before the guy is given a chance.
Recently, Di Maria and Falcao were signed with rather high profiles and I doubt most questioned the 'united player'. But they both left rather unceremoniously. Id say its fair to question whether they had the United mentality. Or how about Cleverly or C Eagles or Lingard, coming up thru the club itself? I've heard they weren't United quality either. Lingard , despite growing tremendously in the space of the last couple years is unanimously regarded as a squad player looking towards next season..not United quality .
So what is a United player? Seems being from the academy isnt enough nor joining as an established class player. Why can't it be defined by the level of heart and performance once the player puts on our shirt being contractually bound as a United player? I'll go back a few more seasons here and highlight an example:
Alan Smith. Ill be honest and admit i didn't think he was suited for the club, between his previous clubs, temperament and overall quality. He didn't light old Trafford up and I'd say he was in the end, a squad player..but he left with me feeling very much the opposite of when he joined .
I don't think some of yous lot would recognise a good footballer if you fell over one, deary me
Not sure what everyone means with "utd player" or 'utd quality'? the likes of John O'shea won a lot with us , He won more than most player who deemed as 'Utd quality'Not a Utd player. Never will be.

It makes sense for one, but not for the other.Done said similar about Matic.
That's all hell be bought for, a back up to Lukaku. It makes sense for one, but not for the other.
Starter for PL champ vs Midtable player
He has been my country's best player for the national team so I would be happy for him - I understand that people aren't too thrilled about signing a 29 year old career midtable player when United are a club with aspiration of making a title challenge and a deep CL run.
You could argue that his mentality has been holding him back, but I think he just doesn't have more than squad player potential for a club like United to be honest.
West Ham doesn't want to sell if you look at the rumored price tag. Had a bad relationship with Jose at Inter too.
nothing needs to be added! Not a Utd player. Never will be.
We need to have an applause icon for posts such as this
He wants Champions League. We're safe.
Even though he's now playing as a striker more than previously, his best ever goals return in a league season is 12 (in 2009). He scored 11 last season and a couple of seasons before that. As anything other than a squad player - and even then I'd be very dubious - he's just going to leave you very short of goals.I was open to the idea at the start of the season. Would probably rather have him up too than Lukaku really.
Although I think we need a better player than both of these up top. Just not sure there is a wealth of strikers better available at the minute.
If we can bring Arnautovic in for a reasonable fee in the january transfer window I feel he would be a very good signing for us.
What even is this thread.
People rating him better than Lukaku?
The guy has got into double figures a couple of times, and Lukaku has a long history of double that.
If Lukaku is looking average and barely scoring in our system, what makes anyone think this guy will suddenly go the other way?
He's a quality player...We've a squad packed with decent players. We need real quality.
He is more than just a lump. He is tall and strong but very talented and technically good.No thanks we don't need another big lump
Individually he's decent but he's not anything special and wouldn't fit with the type of football we should play. Plus he's 30 soon and we already have another 30 year old in Sanchez so that'll require to replace both after 2/3 years maximum. He is more than just a lump. He would fit any style; possession, long balls, high press - he is almost complete. Similar to Firmino but stronger and better with the ball at his feet. I think he's a very good player to have and wouldn't stop us from signing young players. Wouldn't mind signing him and getting rid of Sanchez. I think he is good enough for a top club in terms of skill and talent.Individually he's decent but he's not anything special and wouldn't fit with the type of football we should play. Imo the next attacker that comes needs to be an upcoming talent ie Sancho or a Dembele
