This is a back up player we are signing not a first team player. Currently we have Martial and Ronaldo. Rashford could play up top with Elanga playing out wide. Garnacho who is involved in the first team squad and has looked promising in pre season could also play either out wide or up top.
Yes he is PL proven but at which point do you stop going for him when Bologna want more money for a 33 year old and the fee becomes beyond reasonable.
Elanga is trash, and I hope he ends up being better but he 100% needs a loan out to a relegation fighting PL club or a Championship club.
Rashford as a CF is trash, he himself has said he doesn't like playing centrally.
Ronaldo wants out, so we have to prepare for his exit if a bid comes along.
Garnacho looks like he has a lot of potential but is not proven whatsoever. Would be daft to hang our hat on him like we did with Elanga and hope he can step up.
There is also Amad, Pellistri etc. If Ronaldo is going and its a big if as no one wants him then it would make sense but essentially he will be 3rd choice if not and with the bad PR it is bringing by his past behaviour, its not worth it.

Honestly any club can point to bodies. None of the players you named can be depended on in the league. Amad couldn't even have a consistent pre-season let alone find the bench on match day.
As I said, no one dependable is in the market it seems, so we have to trust Ten Hag on his solutions.

The only plus is he's experienced and maybe coming off the bench could be OK I'm not a fan of him at all at West Ham his attitude stank, he's 33 or so. Plus side he's an aggressive front man can bully defenders and Can hold the ball up . Cheap 2 year deal maybe.

Ten Hag - We need the RIGHT Players. Is this where this great club is at. Why can't we bring in Milinkovic Savic. We have spent the whole summer chasing a dead horse in De Jong.

I am certainly not saying Arnautovic is the right player , but it is clear that ETH is looking for an option with a bit more physicality , as Rangnick pointed out numerous times we are lacking in this area. And the likes of Amad , Pelliistri bring nothing in this regard.

He wants a striker who can hold the ball up and is a physical presence up top. Rashford quite literally refuses to jump for headers. From a footballing perspective it really isn’t hard to work out why it makes sense - he’s a cheap, experienced, proven PL striker happy to be on the bench who offers something entirely different to anything else we have.

We knew all the forwards that were out of contract and were moving on since the start of year or even longer. Surely we should have been looking at this, and have someone ready to come in.We also knew for some time that we need a proper DM. It seems to be getting worse for this great club every season now.
I hope sponsors pull out as a result of this signing. I will really find this one hard to stomach.

The guys you mentioned would be killed by the CBs in the league. They are nowhere near the level needed yet. Some are seriously underrating Arnautovic on here. The guy is strong as an ox and good technically. Too old now and injury prone but leagues ahead of the likes of Pellistri yet.
The board really need to take the pressure of ETH this season. Forget top four. Forget top six. Forget any type of trophy.

I will fully back ETH this season, even if we finish outside the top 4. But if this transfer is being pushed by him rather than be a Glazer money saving exercise then serious questions need to be raised as to his suitability for deciding on transfer targets.
