Mark-Andre Ter Stegen

Yes he's 21.
But IMO Ter Stegen is overrated, just watch his last game against Monchengladbach.

Und du glaubst was der sagt? ;)
Don't really care actually, just posted the news. I wouldn't be surprised if it's true though, it's not like most of the rumours in the media are true. The rumours about Müller meeting some Barca guys for dinner were also bullshit, even though Müller really was in Barcelona 2 weeks ago.

I like Gladbach, so I would love for him to stay a few years and help them getting back into the CL. But I also think it'd be interesting to watch him at Barca. Whatever happens is fine with me.

Yeah, that game cost us the record for the best first half of the season ever, in Germany called 'Herbstmeisterschaft'. One of Dortmund's records from their league titles with Klopp in charge, we didn't break last season. Annoying game, still like him though.

There are some good saves in that video, three or four of them in total, but 80 per cent is literally him catching loose balls with no one around.

Well, yeah, I rally don't understand those videos showing every single touch of a player during a game, it's already boring with midfielders, but with a goalkeeper it's just stupid . I'd probably fell asleep after 1 minutes if I watched it.

Last year during the game, I thought he had a great game though, not one of those where a keeper saves 10 shots with spectacular dives, but he showed great awareness and positioning, kept a few difficult shots out and really tried to catch the ball whenever possible. That's what I always like a lot about young goalkeepers, not giving away second chances, trying to keep hold of the ball instead of punching it out in a spectacular way.

This was a done deal ages ago according to FCBarca (the poster).

Who's Rafael Hernandez?

Google translate:
Terstegen # will leave Borussia. "Marc has informed us that he will not accept our offer," said sporting director Eberl

Borussia's sporting director, Eberl, alluded to Barcelona being his likely destination as well which would confirm what has long been believed a pre contract (Whatever that means really) agreement. Although I imagine all that is left now is agreeing on the transfer fee between the clubs.

Pinto is rumoured to be offered a position on the coaching staff rather than a renewal, thereby keeping Messi & teammates happy. If that succeeds then it will likely clear the way for Reina as the 2nd keeper as has also been rumoured for some time as well. Would make sense considering the transition that is likely to be needed for the young German keeper who was not only the #1 rated keeper in the Bundesliga last season but highest rated by Whoscored thus far this season too. Reina, being a La Masia product, will be the perfect #2 to bring along Ter Stegen, IMO

Keepers can be a crapshoot but Ter Stegen ticks a lot of the boxes you hope to with a promising prospect at a crucial position. Plus, while I am never too thrilled with some of the decisions of the board, Zubizarreta knows the position of goalkeeper better than most - especially for Barcelona. So I think it's a promising direction to go in once Victor departs. 18 years for Marc at Borussia, pretty incredible stat really.

Look forward to seeing him in action wearing blaugrana colors

Do you think Reina will be happy to sit on the bench?

Actually having said that he always seems the most delighted when on Spain duty...

Yeah, it's a good question. I can't imagine he'd be happy but then what goal keeper is content with playing the understudy? I'm sure Reina knows the club and their longterm plans quite well. Particularly that Ter Stegen would be viewed as the heir apparent, it just might not happen as quickly as some may think, of course. Then again, maybe Marc will settle in quite easily, never know. I don't think, however, that Reina will rock the boat

Yeah, also I think Reina's getting on a bit "age wise" so I'd imagine his sunny hometown, with his national team friends & the prospect of winning a shit load of medals at club level might be seen as a decent way to end his career.

He's only thirty-one. Hitting his prime as a 'keeper.

Same age as Valdés, younger than Iker. Yeah, age isn't an issue with Reina. Truth is, coming back home for him might be the boost he needs as well

According to his team-mate Håvard Nordtveit he lacks a bit of aggression to be truly top notch. Personality-wise he's the opposite of Schumacher/Kahn/Lehmann and it's somewhat holding him back. Still, young'n learnin'.

Strange because his personality is often cited as one of the reasons why he'd fit at Barcelona, something similar to Kahn in fact. Guess we'll see

Will this speed up Valdes announcing where he's off to, or is that still up in their air, do you think?

Feels (& looks ) like he's been around forever!

Yeah, would be a good move for Barca. But would Napoli be interested in selling him so soon?

Reina was de Gea's age when he came to Liverpool, the baldy bastard always looked older.

Isn't he only on loan from Liverpool?

I imagine he knows but wasn't going to announce first despite the club implying he would. It's comical really (When you're not crying, of course) how poorly the board has dealt with Victor and he's not obliged them in one way except to do or say nothing to harm the club while he wears the shirt. He'll be missed, no doubt.

My guess, as has been rumoured, is Monaco or City

Any German speakers to give a rundown of his pressy after training today? Seemed to get emotional there towards the end

Sammer compared his personality to Kahn's, when he was director of football for the German FA and responsible for the youth nationalteams. Surprised to hear someone say the complete opposite. I've never noticed a lack of agressiveness when I've watched him play.

He's basically saying that he don't want to say anything about his decision, neither why he won't extend his contract nor where he's going. He promised to tell the fans if he stays or not in January and that's why he made it clear now. Then it's a lot of the usual 'I love the club and I will give 100% until the end of the season and hope the fans will understand my decision'. He's basically saying nothing, but it looks like it was a very emotional decision for him.

Ter Stegen is already class and I'd expect he'll get better and better. It's a massive signing IMO considering how overrated Valdes has been for a while.

I don't really see the sense in Reina to Barcelona though. Despite a couple of big errors for Napoli, he's still a good keeper who surely will want to be playing regular football. Ter Stegen is already good enough to become an instant starter for Barcelona and I'd be surprised if he doesn't. I think this could open the door for a full move to Napoli for Reina, which would make sense really.

He's been very good for Napoli. Reina is the type of player who I think needs to be in a title challenging team in order to get the best out of him. I think he'd do fantastically well at Barca.

Bild claims the two clubs agreed on a transfer for €11.5 million but that nothing will be announced until the end of the season

Me too. Now only need to work on CB, CM and a #9

You guys, or us? ;)

Barca should be well stacked in the CM and #9 department, not?

Fabregas can fill in for both Iniesta and Xavi. Pity about Thiago.

Anyone in the cantera coming along nicely? I think last I read, you weren't convinced about Sergi Roberto making it at Barca.

I was listening to some piece of radio last night and the pundit suggested that Reina will go back to Barca even thought they're signing Ter Stegen. That seems pretty ambitious to me. Surely he'd be on massive money and Ter Stegen's not going there to be a backup.

Xavi is about 35 and on his last legs, they need a CM.

Yep, that's been the speculation for almost a year now that it'd be Mats & Reina with Pinto either retiring to join the coaching staff or moving on. That's the one issue with bringing a player of Reina's caliber in as a mentor - will he be satisfied with that role or unsettle the young German? I think it'll be his swan song as a keeper and coming back to Barcelona will bring his career into full circle. Plus, despite how greatly rated Mats is, there is sure to be a bit of a learning curve and bringing him along slowly would make sense. Look at the capital, they have Iker & Lopez. I think having two quality keepers is ideal, if you can afford it and the players know their roles in the squad, of course

You're thinner than us but we have needs to address like other clubs too

They mishandled the Thiago situation and while Robert is a great squad player, he's not the solution there. The club needs a deeper CM than Cesc and Samper is still a few years away so the club will need to address this gap in the squad and soon.

Not in midfield, not anytime soon anyway. Roberto, I'm still unsure of what his potential is but he'll be remaining with the club...even if that would mean a loan although I assume when Song is gone, he'll be in the regular rotation
