Mark-Andre Ter Stegen

Would be a brilliant signing I'd expect, been one to watch for a while now, quality keeper.

It's quite amazing how long Barcelona have gone without a top quality keeper. Valdes works in their system I guess, but he's a massive level below the top keepers.

Because a 20-seconds video of a 21-year-old player does not allow for any conclusive evidence as to his abilities, which is what this thread is about. It can almost be seen as changing the information regarding the overall ability of this player considering the sample size, accompanying description and overall tone of the post - making it useless.

To which I could add a more personal take further repelling it from me; the act of showing a young Borussia Mönchengladbach goalkeeper lying on the ground in shame on the eve of his move to Barcelona, regardless of it being the product of a malicious will to misinform or a benign one to look amusing / aware in front of an internet crowd, is highly tasteless to me in light of the recent events which befell a German football player who took his own life just a couple of years ago.

Altogether though, the name of said player and his personal history might now be lost to the Youtube-wired, transfer-forum frequenting average poster reflecting on this, which would then let me invite you to focus on the first paragraph of this post to get the most accurate (if plainly simple) answer to your concerns.

:wenger:

Wired up.

For feck's sake, a thread is not meant to be some kind of accurate evaluation of a player. It's just a place to post news, footage or opinions about that player. It's bizarre that you have a problem with putting a video of a keeper making a mistake in that keeper's thread.

The USA game.. And you are making a judgement and calling him the next Richard Wright on 1 game?

No, I'm making a judgment call based off the 20 seconds I saw him tbh. He's the next Dick Wright.

Monchengladbach keeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen (21) will replace Valdes next season. Barcelona and the player already have a verbal deal [ser]

The same guy also tweeted that Barcelona are considering Pepe Reina as Valdes' replacement.

I think Reina signing for Barcelona - if it happens - is to try and ease in a younger goalkeeper. Transition is hard, especially at Barcelona, plus Valdes has been immense this season.

Reina is 31, Stegen is 21. Makes no point to get Stegen and Reina both as Reina still has a good couple of years left in him.

If only we could infuse Pinto's zeal into all of the players in the squad, they'd finesse everyone & scrap as well as the worst of them

Bild reporting that Barcelona have reached an agreement to sign him.

Spanish radio: Barca sporting director Zubizarreta visited Gladbach today to finalize Ter Stegen negotiations. Should sign contract to 2018

Yes

But if Valdes maybe has the choice between PSG and Monaco.......i would go to PSG (Only the weather is better in Monte Carlo).

Its a tough one, PSG have Sirigiu who has been brilliant for them, Monaco have gone between 2 keepers this season, one of which is on loan from Sampdoria, so clearly Monaco will want him more, PSG would want Casillas ahead of Valdes I would imagine if they are in the market for a keeper

Apparently Ter Stegen urged Barcelona that Monchengladbach had offered a decent renewal and to move soon if interested which led to Zubi flying to Germany. Apart from the rumours linking him for about a year now, this latest seems to have some legitimacy although I've never heard of rkb radio in Catalunya

Eberl, Gladbach's director of football, again denied that anyone from Barca talked to them about Ter Stegen, not yesterday, not ever.

Ter Segen's performance vs. Bayern Munich away last season was really good. He'll be one of the best in a couple of years.

So we can still go for de Gea? Cool.

By 'go for' you mean tap him up all summer, have your whole squad talk about him and then bid £3.5m for him? Looking forward to that.

Or offer you a straight swap, Tello for de Gea. Whichever works for you.
