Really not a fan of the Mandzukic addition, we'll be wasting minutes on a past his best player when we could be playing Greenwood.

None of our strikers offer what Mandzukic does, the man presses like he is possessed.
I guarantee players around him would have a field day with the amount of recoveries he can make in their own half.

In his prime he would have been a strong addition, but the squad is bloated as it is so not sure if we need him.

Totally agree. He's a completely different style of forward to anyone we have, he's got experience our forwards lack, would accept a squad place (in a way Lukaku wouldn't) and gives us a real option off the bench. I'm a huge fan of this move (if we can get him).
Honestly, if I had to choose between Dybala and Mandzukic, I'd choose the latter.
But if we can get both, then grand!

If we're after something different then we should be after a player of his ilk that isn't 33, I'm sick of players past their best getting loads of game time for us and us being unable to get them back off the wage bill. It'd be fair enough if it was someone as good as Zlatan, but it's Mandzukic.
Again, he is not being brought in to score and lead the line ala Zlatan.
He is a defensive forward and wins the ball back so much.
I genuinely can't name another striker like him to be fair and I imagine after his 2 year deal he would move on.
I'm extremely happy with this signing for two reasons. Firstly Mandzukic is great at holding up the ball and heading the ball. Our strikers are so poor at getting on the end of crosses or winning long balls. Secondly he could provide a great foil for Dybala to play off. Dybala is very similar to Griezmann and we've seen how effective he is alongside the likes of Giroud and Costa.
Obviously he shouldn't be a guaranteed starter but he adds very valuable qualities to the team.

Greenwood is 17! We need a personality like Mandzukic around the place. We have a team full of fannies that wilt way too much. Players like Maguire and Mandzukic are exactly what we need. If people can't see this glaring issue in our squad then i give up.
Totally agree. A great option to have and very physical. I want pressure on Martial and Rashford too. They both need to improve a lot this year for United to be successful. Greenwood can still get minutes if he is doing well, Mandzukic will not keep him out of the lineup.

Looking just at our attacking options we currently have Rashford, Martial, Sanchez, James, Lingard, Mata, Lukaku, Greenwood, Chong, Gomes. Take out Rom and bring in both Dybala and Mandzukic that means we will have 11 players for 3 spots in the team. On top of this the Maguire signing takes us to 7 first team center backs. We have 5 players for the full back spots too. Only in midfield I would say we lack numbers. Hopefully we can trim some of the fat before the window closes.

Experience, energy, and presence needed around the squad at the moment, especially if Lukaku goes to Juve. It is low risk, and he (probably) would be used like how Spurs utilised that tall spanish striker whose name I cannot recall at the time of typing this. It might work something like how SAF brought Larsson to help his young team at that moment of time. Greenwood has plenty of time for him to develop, and hopefully be the main player in the team.

Mandzukic is a winner. A nasty kind of guy at times. All these things which are missing in our dressing room. He would be a similar signing to us as when we signed Zlatan.
This is like the Daniel James signing, an extra for the bench, not really bothered one way or the other as long as we get Dybala, in truth if Juve were trying to offload another player we shoulve tried to get Bentancur as they've brought in Rabiot this summer.

You just need to see the bigger picture. We aren't interested in signing him for him to score 20 goals a season. He'll offer us way more than you can imagine, small details that we are lacking on the pitch and dressing room. This is a very smart signing if it gets done.

Good bit of experience that I think our attack really needs. We’re still very naive in that dept, plus he works his arse off. Not exactly pricey too.

I second that. A very good option to have in the squad. A warrior. If we somehow manage to offload Lukaku and get Dybala and Mandzukic in exchange then hat's off to Woodward for getting this done.
We can only get who wants to come and is available. The clubs paying his wages and fee, whats the fuss? Zlatan ain't coming back.
I think this is the type of signing that could help us win the Europa League. Bit like Zlatan. He's very experienced and a good goal scorer. Probably be a real asset to us short term like Zlatan was.

Well the role of a target man isn't primarily linked with crosses from wide players. A target man is a player that will occupy the opposing CBs and impose a physical battle, a player that can be used on the ground as well as in the air from the middle whether it is in the short or long passing game.
