Mario Balotelli

Some of the sensationalist comments in this thread made about a lad that none of us have ever met, let alone spent time with are ridiculous.

Makes you realize the power of the media over the average twat in the street
.

I know feck all about Balotelli as a person, he's a class young player who's had problems at Inter for myriad reasons. Most of the problems seemed to have their roots behind closed doors, but getting racially abused by your own fans in this day and age is utterly disgusting, and United we prefer to kung fu kick racists than ignore them.

I'd be really excited if we got hold of him!

I agree, it's incredible really

Ditto, people have to remember that compared to Cantona this boy is Prefect.

This sums up posting on message boards nicely. People are too easily swayed by press articles

Yeah I cant believe the amount of stick Balotelli gets on here, you'd think he won #19 for Liverpool and then pissed all over the grounds of OT

Have you lot seen this lad play? At 19, he is fecking incredible.

I have seen him play in 10-12 matches, and tbf they have been hit or miss, but I have seen him score a few stunners, that in all honesty very very few players in the world could that are his age. He already has 28 goals at Inter in three years, sure not the highest total but given his age, and the fact that Inter are the best team in Italy and last year Europe it is a stunning figure.

All strikers are hit and miss. The only one that was consistently devastating was Ronaldo while at Barca and in his first year at Inter, before the injuries.

The word cnut has lost all meaning for me. Brits throw it around like a Priest saying Jesus. Everyone's a cnut. Some bigger than others. Meaningless.

It's always funny to see how people judge famous people by some few actions spanning couple of years or simply what the media writes. I mean what has he done seriously that's so bad that his age isn't an excuse? Not much really. Throwing his jersey on the ground because the "fans" booed him at the slightest touch and constantly make racial remarks. Eto'o probably had his back.
Wearing a Milan jersey in public whilst playing for Inter. Well, he's a known Milan fan isn't he? It's a very stupid thing to do yes but it's not inexcuseable.

I think he'd be a great buy. Can put him on the wings or stick him up front. We've got plenty of non-Inter Italian youths in our squad to mingle with (hoping that the Lazio boys ain't the fascist kind) and there aren't many times where Fergie hasn't sorted the kinks out of troubled youths.

This, says the chief:cool:

With all due respect but it wasnt the media that forced Balotelli to attend AC Milan's games and say that he wouldn't mind playing for them. It was not the media who forced him to throw the shirt on the floor in on of the most epic games for Inter (Barcelona away) and its not the media that forced him to get red cards when there weren't any neccessity to do so.

I am not against Mario Balotelli. Talent wise he has the potential to become as good as Rooney if only he gives his 100% to it. Its also true that opposing fans can be bastards at time and that he is still very young. Stating that the boy really needs to put his priorities right and stop being a cnut.

Inter Milan coach Rafa Benitez says selling Mario Balotelli is out of his hands.

Balotelli is wanted by Manchester United and Manchester City.

Benitez says his main priority is coaching the players, and not buying or selling them.

"If we need to sell someone this is the responsibility of the club as my responsibility is to work on the pitch," said the former Liverpool boss .

Ancelotti backs Move To OT

Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti says a move to Manchester United would be a good option for Mario Balotelli.

The Inter Milan striker is a top target for United.

"They (United) are a team with great tradition, which helps that type of player," Ancelotti told Sky Sport 24. "Here, the environment is different and I think a player with his character could find it better than in Italy. It's difficult to find a player so young with his quality, and England has a lack of players at that level."

According to this site,Balotelli's agent met United officials in Amsterdam yesterday..and united made a formal offer to Inter of about 35 million euros (29m sterling)

While i like the potential of Baloteli, I don't really see him as a player who would stay at United if he did reach his potential. Also, I simply think he would be a bit of a luxury signing - as I have said many times, the strikers we have won't really matter if we don't have a central midfield capable of supporting them - and right now Fletcher is the only central midfielder I would trust to give us consistently good performances.

Talent wise, he obviously has a lot of potential - although I'm not convinced he would have an amicable relationship with the fans.

This is the strongest we've been linked to a player this summer, everyone is giving his two cents about it.

I haven't watched Balotelli enough to join the "we've got to have him" camp, but I've watched him enough to see why we might want him.

I don't think SAF or United can fix major personality problems - we can't in our own teenagers, never mind in a player who's almost 20 and that'll go through a tough language/culture adjustment to come here at all.

Cantona was 26, married, and knew it was the last big chance when he came to us. Plus he was cheap. It was a gamble for SAF but it wasn't a big one if it hadn't worked.

People can make Ronaldo comparisons if they like but his teenage reputation was for working hard in training and being a good bloke in the dressing room. He did have a temper and a stroppy side though - and we never fixed that.

I can believe Italy may be bringing out the worst in Balotelli - fans abuse him, he reacts, his teammates get annoyed with him rather than helping him, cycle repeats.

Choosing Ronaldo over Quaresma (forget the one foot thing for now) may have come down to some inside knowledge. Do we have that for Balotelli (from Mourinho say!) if we don't then I can see SAF being very cagey about the price he'd go to.

The Gazzetta's usually reliable is it not? 29m is about 5-6m too high, but if he develops at OT, worth it IMO.

The lad is 19. This is an awesome collection of goals and good bits of play for a player of this age.

My two cents on the report is that it may be true that someone representing united met Balotelli's agent but the fee being cited is not real.

Note also that real madrid have also been linked with the kid, (maybe to replace City? ),
Now i see it very unlikely that someone like Balotelli with all his personality problems would want to go to that media circus at madrid.

So i think that Inter are encouraging these rumours in order to get the best price possible for balotelli. Moratti knows that he must sell in order to give Benitez money to spend.

Probably utter bollocks.

Could be ..I mean if we continue to play half of our games with just one striker, i do not see much sense in going for yet another striker...

that is, unless fergie thinks that this lad is something really special

I've hardly seen him play, what are his qualities? £29m seems a bit steep though.

Great technique, fast, good shot with both legs, can dribble, decent header and confident in front of goal. In other words he can be a complete striker

Main problem - he is totally indisciplined, .

Sooner or later he ll leave inter for sure because he does not have the best of relations with their fans and it seems that moratti knows this and he is trying to get the best possible price for him - that's why the 29million fee is being mentioned

Doesn't "heavily linked" mean that the press are reporting it very heavily?

a lies still a lie though at the end of the day. The media have to fill the papers somehow

I know the definition of heavily linked.

The point here is that most articles are copying information from one another, which means nothing. The other day we were "heavily linked" with Sneijder, complete with quotes from Robben saying he thinks he will end up at OT. Today - not so much. There are only two possible states a story can be in - transfer speculation or confirmation from both clubs and player that the transfer has been completed. Heavily linked is a meaningless effing term.

Why were United officials in Amsterdam? Double signing of Suarez and Balotelli?

But in all seriousness, I don't want Balotelli here. Once Mourinho comes to United there's going to be war between those 2 again. Would be a waste of money

Well he openly declares his love for Milan. I can understand why Inter fans hate him. He was also pictured wearing a Milan jersey if i'm not wrong.

Exactly - his agent will "leak" the story to one source - and then the multiplier effect starts to work until everyone ends up reporting the same story.

it's basically works to the same effect of what Goebbels used to do: Repeating a lie will eventually make people believe it, even if it s a big lie
