Even though he would be relatively cheap regarding transfer fee he would probably be looking at a decent contract deal and would probably be eyeing up the sort of money Martial is on and that could be a stumbling block.
Of course that depends if we are interested him in the first place.
There has been no strong links to him which makes me think it’s pure speculation from the media

As a thought experiment, imagine him coming on last night to replace Martial on 60 mins.

He's a bit ungainly, not very technical, but he'd have offered an out ball and a threat in behind their advanced defensive line in a way Elanga didn't. Also may have been useful defending corners.

On Whoscored he is down as having heading as a weakness.

With his playing style and physique he will quickly adapt to PL. He would defenivtive add to the team both on the field and on the bench.

None of the top clubs have a strong striker at the moment. Being tied for second after 15 games means nothing.
It means something that he’s scored more than all our current forwards. He’ll add something different to our frontline. He’ll bring physicality which none of the others have.

Yeah he gives us a different dimension in forward line for a very reasonable price as well

I think if the Glazers are to allow a move for a forward in January, this guy is much more likely over Joao Felix. Felix would be a short loan that will not increase the value of the asset (the club). Whereas Thruram can be got for £15m and would immediately be worth £30-40m, just by not being in the final 6 months of his contract alone, thus increasing the value of the asset.

On the football side I think he’s the better fit than Felix as well. A strong hardworking centre forward, with an eye for a goal, that can also help on the wing if needed.

10 goals in 15 is a club record over the past 7 years.
It's not THAT impressive I know but I think he's doing quite well there.

I went to mönchengladbach forum to check how the fans rate him and they have 50:50 divided opinions. Some think he is mid table player but some think he has potential.

Although a useful exercise imagine if other fans came on here to see how certain supporters rate our players

Because he looks terrible, even on YT which makes John O'Shea look like Bergkamp
If he can help facilitate a high press and put away the chances he's provided (and he does have good underlying numbers and decent shot selection) it doesn't really matter how he looks or if he's slightly clumsy looking.

Thuram's a cheap option and has very little risk attached whereas Joao Felix, a clearly far better player, presents far more risk due to his high cost and his unfamiliarity/potential unsuitability with the role we want him to play. For the delta in the amount of goals each would score, it doesn't really make sense to take the riskier option here. Also, with the Thuram signing, if it doesn't work we can pursue our ideal profile in the summer whereas a Felix purchase at the sums involved might prevent that.

Just watched his highlights. Tbf nothing amazing but imo he'd be a very good deal for us especially considering the quoted price. Only thing I don't like is he doesn't score a single header the entire vid despite looking very tall.

We should still pursue a number 9 in the summer because our forward line lacks one

Gladbach just isn't a crossing team (they are dead last in the league in that regard, only played 76 crosses this season so far, Köln at the other end have 209), so he gets very few opportunities to score a header.

For the price quoted and the lack of potential suitors I'm not expecting much but even someone like Bebe would be helpful at times right now.

Maybe he is concerned about the constant impact of heading the ball on his brain.

For Gladbach? The last good "proper" no9 they had was probably Heiko Herrlich.

Why the sudden desperation to get anyone? This guy will be surplus to requirements in two years and the Caf will be out yelling to get rid of him

People are complaining too much.

He’s a young player who has experience playing high level games for his country and he’s affordable and playing a position where we need someone in. Martial can’t be trusted to stay fit and even when fit he’s still shit sometimes when he can’t be arsed.

The signs are clear, this signing makes too much sense and we wont sign him.

Yeah we definitely need someone in that position. I totally get what people are saying about that YT compilation but feel Erik's coaching can get something out of him

Oh I see. Thanks.

Totally agree. And imo he's quite a decent player. No idea why very few wants him.

Hope not if he does want to play in the prem.

Couple hours ago I read an article says he wants to play for us over Newcastle. And ETH definitely will sign a cheap striker before 31st Jan. But we do not want to pay the asking 15m because he'd be free in six months. So we'll sign him for 30m on 23:59 31st Jan I guess.

A mid table quality forward as depth will do fine for 6 months until we can secure a long term first choice in the summer. If he's not good enough shouldn't be a massive stretch to double our money. Bit of a Daniel James low risk/high reward feeling to this one.

As long as we don’t give this guy big wages contract. James wages was very small.

13 in 17 for gladbach, good enough to play for France and did well in the final. I can't claim to know much of him but he can't be that bad as a back up striker or plan b option. We desperately need numbers there and players that can come on and offer something different

Worth a punt imo. I don't agree that he looks ungainly on the ball, seems quite technical and an instinctive finisher. He also doesn't mind coming back and holding the ball up, and he's really quick and nimble which is surprising considering how big he is.

We need a CF option other than Martial

"Creeping into the conversation"? I'd like to see some sort of GIF of that
