This could be nonsense but them trying to sign Enzo and Mudryk this January is most certainly fact. As are the 11 players they’ve signed since Boehly took over. Plus they’ve signed Nkunku for the summer - so we’re at 12. I’m also confident them trying to sign the majority of Richarlison, Gordon, De Jong, Alvarez, Raphinha, Kounde, Marquinhos and Gvardiol (I’ve likely forgotten some others Todd went after on his summer magical mystery tour) was true as their bids were widely reported by multiple reliable journalists across the patch at the time. And then there was the Ronaldo interest on top. As such I’m fairly confident in my joking assertion that they want to sign all the players in the world - much like certain posters on the Caf.
Why is it strange we don’t want to sign another right footed attacker who’s best position is where rashford plays and who hasn’t shown anything to date in his career indicating he’s better than a fit martial as a striker? Most of us are 50-50 on if Martial is good enough after this season so why are we bringing in an inferior player? You bang on about it only being 10m - even putting aside that is actually real money this guy isn’t going to play for free - he’ll want a wage and a 4/5 year contract on top. So what’s the total cost? Is he good enough to be a viable option in a squad being built to win the big prizes? Or do you want him simply because he’s available, has 2 legs and anyone will do for the next 5 months - and then in the summer you’ll be screaming for yet another signing to replace him? Not really convinced that’s the way top clubs build squads. If we’re bringing in a player who ultimately isn’t good enough going for the future and is just cover it needs to be a loan. Oddly enough that’s what the club has briefed we want to do. Maybe ETH and co know what they’re doing.
